  • great app

I love ecosia and wholeheartedly support it's cause! For the most part, it is a great browser. However I do wish there was an option to open links in new tabs rather than either manually copying the link, pasting it into a new tab yourself. Sometimes it is a bit slow / freezes and sometimes the search results aren't as accurate as others like safari, but for the most part it's great. Would also like to see a 'top hits' kind of function where you start to enter a URL and the browser predicts / suggests a URL based on past websites you've visited.

  • Amazing

It’s the same as google and everything you search comes up why use google when you can use Ecosia it’s really good and helps the world around us you can even see how many trees you have planted even though you have done nothing just searched for something you need I would really recommend this app think how bad our world is trees are constantly being chopped down and animals are suffering but you can make a change everyone says one person can’t make a change but in the first 10 mins I had this app I planted 3 trees already that’s 3 more trees for animals and 3 trees to give people oxygen

  • It’s Purpose

When using Ecosia, we must take into mind it’s purpose - planting trees, helping our planet. The idea, and honestly even the execution, is close to perfect, and I am so happy to be using this application on a daily basis.

Of course, there have been problems, mainly in the outcome of my searches; they often come up short especially compared to google and others. Or, and this really isn’t that substantial, but it does hurt my little OCD heart, and that is that the application’s icon is slightly off, with a dark line on the left side.

Nonetheless, I must thank you, Ecosia. You are doing a wonderful and incredibly innovative thing. And I will continue to support you and spread the word, it’s the least I could do. Hopefully I will come to do more.

  • Pretty good but can be improved.

I love the concept for obvious reasons that I won’t dive into but I would just like to give the developers some thought about how to improve the app:

As most people trying out this app will be migrating from Safari, they will be very familiar with Safari’s UI e.g. having the tabs button in the bottom right hand corner. I think it would be a good idea to mimic Safari’s UI so that it doesn’t feel awkward to use and that people are more likely to give the app a chance. Also adding the history button etc. I understand it’s easier said than done and might not be possible for some reasons but basically the app’s interface could be more efficient and easier to use.

  • Good Browser Overall

Ecosia is functional, easy to use, and I love the whole plant-trees-with-searches thing. My only problems are that it opens a whole new tab every time I click on a link, when it’s usually just fine to open the link in the same tab (a setting could be added to choose which happens), and often when I try to open a new tab it’ll instead go to the homepage in the same tab I had open, which I want to keep, actually. If I didn’t want to keep what was open in the current tab, I would do my search or nagivate to the website I wanted through the address bar in my current tab.

  • Very Well Put Together

The designers of this app did a great job of creating a clean, simple interface. It’s both easy to use and more ascetically pleasing than the majority of other search engine apps available, which is impressive given that Ecosia directs most of its revenue to planting trees. There are a few things that could be improved upon (most notable to me was having to press multiple buttons to refresh the page) but knowing I’m doing some good just by searching the web easily outweighs those types of issues. Thanks to the people at Ecosia.

  • Great for the most part

I genuinely like using this on my phone. However. There are some problems with the computer version. First off, for some reason, while using it on the computer, one of my old google themes was enabled. I had not even searched for google themes, and it appeared in the background. Ecosia was still the search engine, however. Oh well, I took it out and continued. A few minutes later, I went to look for one of my bookmarks, which I had organized into folders when I was still using google, and I saw that they were completely out of order! They were not in the folders I had placed them in before, and I was a bit upset. I feel like the extension was undoing my settings. Anyways, there are plenty of good reasons to use the app, since it helps to plant trees and everything, but the computer version seems to have various issues, which I do not understand.

  • Suggestions ((-:

I love love love this app & it’s cause, however I do have some suggestions to make as encouragement for improving & to help increase the number of users.

    1. Changes to maps/location features, as they are very poor & automatically reroute to google anyways. Personally, it makes me wonder why not just start off using Google Maps in the first place, if that’s where I’m gonna end up going to? It also affects the relevance of search results too which can be irritating.

    2. Photo viewing under the images tab is not as smooth or fluid as maybe Google’s viewing screen, which I think could appeal to more people than it currently does

    3. Overall fluidity I would say could use some improvement, actually

    4. Highlighting information at the top of the screen for specific searches that way users don’t have to click through links and manually search for information, Ecosia can just provide a snippet of information above all search results for users to view

    5. Tab navigation/buttons are awkward to use & don’t seem very efficient for browsing as well

  • I really want to like this app

Honestly, there should be more apps like this. Apps like Ecosia can really help conserve our planet’s resources. However, this concept alone is keeping this app on my home screen. From a UI standpoint, Ecosia is a watered-down version of Google. Simple functions like refreshing the page require you to press an extra button (a solution I actually admire but is not very efficient). And what I dislike the most is that certain links that work on any other browser out there do not work on Ecosia. This is extremely frustrating.

Many things about this app need to be fixed. Simply taking inspiration from the Google browser would really help improve this app, and I feel that many more people would download it if it were improved. Regretfully, I probably won’t use this app a lot until its problems are resolved (right now, it’s just not practical to use), but I really, really hope this app is improved on.

  • Yay

I love Ecosia. The layout is so cute and I don’t even really notice the ads. I love being environmentally friendly and reading about what they do with the money on the site.
