Making a payment 👎🏻

I preferred the old app much more sleek and professional looking and the most irritating part of the new app is the hassle you have to go through to make a payment. Why does it ask you if you want to leave or stay, very confusing as the first few times I was selecting to stay, as in, I want to stay and make a payment. But bizzarly enough you have to press leave, it then opens a new window and it’s confusing if you wanna use a saved card. The old app was way better and you could just click on pay and enter the amount and your last 3 digits without leaving the app

Upgrade from Hell

I don’t really need to say too much just look at some of the other reviews (recently after the upgrade) especially when it drops you out of the application in order to pay and the interface on the web is clunky inefficient and downright rubbish.
I just sent a payment now and my other card application interrupts to verify the payment - when I do this the web interface closes on MBNA meaning the application then disregards the transaction completely. I now really can’t pay as I have to authorise the payment before it will get the transaction processed.
Because the new application drops into a browser to actually do the payment when this closes you go back in the application and it therefore knows nothing about what’s happened beyond it.
In comparison to some other banking applications this is truly atrocious and someone really needs to look at this you must be getting many complaints now after this upgrade.

Current star rating relying on older version of app!

Don’t be fooled by the start rating of this app, it is heavily reliant on the previous much, much better version. The most recent update was a massive step backwards in functionality and user friendliness. The previous version was an joy to use, with everything you needed to know as soon as you logged in. Any info you needed that wasn’t on the home screen was easily and quickly available with minimal amount of searching. Now it is the complete opposite. I have had the misfortune of using this updated version for a good few months now so I feel that I have given it long enough to be fair with my review. The app itself has very limited functionality without even giving you all the basics. For example to make a payment you will be taken from the app to the website to complete the process. Really, really frustrating. Hence all the negative reviews of this most current version. I can see no other reason for the change other than to make doing the basics harder. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous version so why change it?

From excellent to stupid

Compared to the majority of banking and credit card apps, the MBNA app was by far the best one. Everything was clearly laid out and offered a tonne of features that I wished other apps had. The only thing is lacked that other apps had was TouchID.

However for some reason they decided to remove basically everything! - you can’t even make a payment or set up a Direct Debit in the app anymore, there’s almost no point in having the app! The only thing it seems to do now is tell you your balance and recent transactions.

As a software developer I truly understand some systems need an overhaul, especially if security is at stake, but since that wasn’t communicated, seriously who thought this was a good idea ?! I give it 2 stars for what the app once was, otherwise it doesn’t even deserve one.

How to turn a good app bad.

This used to be good. It’s now COMPLETELY RUBBISH. I used to be able to make a debit card payment from within the app. Now when I make a payment I am redirected to the web site where I am prompted to enter my debit card details.

When I log on to the web site I am prompted to download the app which will only end up sending me back to the web site when I want to make a payment! Why? The web site still has my debit card details as they are available to choose as a payment method, although even that option is not obvious, so why doesn’t the app use them. It used to!

Someone has made the design decision that this app will be annoying. Functionality has been removed that it had before that makes the app pointless and using it frustrating. Whoever made that decision should be sacked as it has made me consider whether I really want to continue using my MBNA credit card. The app designer is in the position of being the person who will cause MBNA to lose customers!

It is also really noticeable that reviews that give the app a high rating get a developer response but the negative reviews are ignored. That is totally the wrong way round. Accept all the praise you want while you still have a job ‘cos if the app continues on this route it won’t be long before it’s dropped by MBNA as an embarrassment and you’ll be looking for a job elsewhere.

What happened?

Before the previous update the app was great. All navigation was done in the app (even though sometimes it was a little odd) and it was easy enough to make payments and transfers and the likes.
Now with this new update the app has taken a huge step back. Most annoyingly is that when you make a payment you have to leave the app where you’re directed to a website to enter the details of the card you’d like to use to pay the credit card? Why? What happened to it being all in app and the app saving the details of the cards I use? The update has made things both long winded and frustrating. The only good thing so far to come out of this update is Face ID after the incredibly long ‘authenticating device’ wait time on start up. Go back to the old app this is a real step in the wrong direction for practicality

Used to be a great app :(

The old MBNA app was one of the best banking apps I had ever used but the latest update which has completely changed the way the app works which not only has made it far more difficult to use, it is less intuitive, slower, has less features and just a much poorer user experience. So dissappointing!

For example, it is now not easy to see whether a payment is due until a statement is available. Then when you try to make a payment you have to be taken outside the app to another website to make the payment. So then you don’t have a confirmation within the app to know that payment has been made. I used to love the feature where there’s a blue square obscuring sensitive information which fades as you move it away gradually, genius, but has now gone.

Seems to me like another case of fixing something that hasn’t broke! :(

Disappointing

So many function that once were available in the mobile app have been removed with this new app (e.g. setup of direct debit). Now I can’t even see at a glance when my next payment is due. Disappointed.

Zero stars!

Every update is getting worse and worse, less useful up to date. The only way to contact the team is by telephone which in 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. I am totally confused how is possible to have an account, pay my monthly payment and in other moment, the App says “there is no account that can be accessed through the Card Service App!” Do I have an account or not? If I don’t have any ( because the App says that), why do you keep taking my money? I can’t see my balance but every month I make a payment (without any account) 😳😡. What is my balance actually? No statements, no balance, no information at all... but I continue to pay money to you! Until when? What is the App for? My big problem is invisible balance and information about my account. I have no idea what I have to pay for the rest. And so on, if you are decided to close my account this should be after the balance is cleared. Also, it makes me feel that MBNA team given answers only to the positive feedbacks which is absurdly. They must pay attention to both positive and negative feedbacks. Only in this way the will meet the customers needs! At the end, the App doesn’t work properly, the website is the same. No information at all, the contact is only by telephone-in 21st century, very disappointed ex customer!

Now they not even trying to be good

There website and app is getting worse and less useful by the day. Contact them, only telephone. Want to know you have a new statement to pay? No chance if paperless. Want to change or get email or text notification preferences, no chance. I used to get notifications of statements, as of February they stopped so it looks like MBNA want you to log in every month to see if you have a statement, or go back to paper statements, or telephone them. They obviously don’t do chat or email, just telephone. What is the App for? So I will telephone when out of Andorra to find out why they don’t tell customers about statements anymore or let them check their notification preferences, is it for late fees? In the meantime Apple review is the only way to contact them, without a telephone. 2019, according to MBNA it’s still the year of the telephone and the time to have a nearly useless app/website! At least we can now see a statement on the App ! One thing added, a few removed.
