Horrible new update

This used to be such a good app and one of the best credit card apps out there. This new update is horrible. It looks as though it has gone backwards and feels clunky when using it. It’s not as easy to find information you are looking for. For example, pre update it would tell you how much you owed, if there was a payment due, the minimum payment due, and the date it was due to be collected (if paid by direct debit) or paid. Now some of the most useful information has disappeared and you have to open up a statement just to see what your payment is and what date it is due. And even then, it doesn’t apply it to your recent transactions. Please update this and revert back.

Great banking app

I find the app to be user friendly and offers a great range of banking functions which can be executed entirely via the app. Often in my experience with other banking apps, functions are seemingly available on the app but it’s only once you try to use them that you find out it’s no more than a link to contact the institution by telephone or email.

I’m very happy with the service and I trust that my further feedback is not required for a while therefore I would be grateful if the requests for feedback at the end of each use of the app could be stopped for a period of time (say one year).

Full functionality.

This is the only credit card company whose app lets you do everything you need, and lets you see all the information you need, as long as you press all the right buttons. In particular most firms make it almost impossible to work out when an interest free period ends, and therefore how much to pay a month to avoid paying interest, especially if you have done multiple balance transfers. The only improvement I could suggest is that a page showing all balance transfers, with amounts, and when they revert could be shown in one screen, as you do have to visit different places at the moment. Having said that, bonus points for showing it properly at all !

Hi, thanks for leaving a great review, we really appreciate it.

Can’t remember my password

The functionality is fine, but I cannot give more than a one-star review to any app that requires you to input your password every time you use it.

It actually comprises security, as it encourages people to use simpler, less secure passwords and to use the same password for a range of different accounts.

On an iPhone, you get biometric security and secure password generation, so there is really no excuse for this. And, of course, every other app for my card and bank accounts uses the fingerprint sensor for me to log in securely!

Until they fix this bug, don’t bother with the app, just log in to your account via Safari. Your phone will then remember the password for next time and you can set it up as an icon on your home screen. The mobile website is like using an app.

I’ll keep checking the app from time to time and promise to update this review if they ever fix the problem. And, unless you are actually going to give an explanation for why your app is pretty much the only one with this weakness, or better yet, tell us when it will be fixed, developers - don’t bother to comment on customer reviews, it makes it obvious that you don’t actually read them.

Nearly perfect but desperately needs TouchID

This is a great app and let’s me do everything I need to - I use it all the time and it’s very fluid and intuitive.

It was good to see log in made slightly easier recently when the need to press ‘go’ twice was removed - now when you press it after typing in your password it logs you in, where as previously you had to additionally press log in.

However, it’s incredibly frustrating that after all these years of Touch ID existing on iPhones, that MBNA have ignored this wonderful, time saving feature. Not having to type in my password manually every time I log in would be a godsend. My RBS banking app has had it for about 3-4 years so I can’t understand why this is not being added.

Very comprehensive for an app!

I have literally just installed and used app for first time so maybe I am mistaken but my perception is that it does almost everything that I can do online.
I only briefly looked around but it had LOTS of functionality - which all appeared to work correctly - which is generally unusual for an app.
The only thing missing that I would like to see, is the ability to set an alert. This feature is only recently starting to become normal practice, but more and more financial services are realising how useful this is - even if it is only to choose from a few obvious preset alerts.
But on first impressions I am VERY impressed. Definitely recommend this !!

Good app, but.. please read to the end for an update.

The MBNA banking app is very good. Navigation can sometimes be a little obscure on a mobile device but I’ve always managed to find what I’m looking for eventually. Perhaps it’s just designed for the younger generation! The reason I only rated it 4 star is simple that each time I log out I get two very irritating question buttons. Firstly the “have you been able to do all you needed to do” question, which is just about always “yes”, and if I had a problem I would have addressed it from within the app and not on my way out! Secondly, and the mist irritating, is the “do you want to leave a review” question. As I use the app on a mobile device and as I generally don’t want to sit and tap my screen after I’ve completed my banking activity, I don’t usually want to leave a review, however, this time I have left a review but to complain about having to press those irritating butting each time i log out!!! Please remove it. Thanks.
Update. I was extremely surprised and pleased when I got the feedback from Apple and the developer saying that my issue had been fixed. It took just one day and now I can log out without any problems at all. Many thanks MBNA for a great customer service. 5 stars well deserved.

Pleased with this app

Got a new card, asked to activate. Had forgotten all my online login details after setting up over 5 years ago, but quickly sorted using my PC. Some people are moaning there’s no finger print or facial ID for logging in. Is it really so onerous to remember your password If you use this regularly? It saved my name, so now I only have to remember the password I use for everything else. On my locked phone. After all, a dead head and a severed thumb could give nefarious people access to all my credit! So as long as I have a password, I might live long enough for the police to find me 🤣
