  • Rough Start

    Although I have enjoyed a variety of Wyndham Hotels in my 56 years of life I am always hesitant to enroll in rewards that involve my credit card. However, after hearing so many good things about the program from friends and family I decided to enroll. Following my enrollment I booked a two night stay at a Dallas location. I booked it in my usual manner but I wasn’t clear where to add my rewards number. I called the rewards helpline but it was closed so I was unable to get through until today. I was made aware that I was unable to receive points because I booked through a third party. I was very dismayed and decided to cancel my appointment and rebook. All in all the third party was willing to cancel w/o penalty but was told that Wyndham would charge me a $50 penalty for cancellation. I explained to them that I was still going to book so why must I incur a penalty. There was no loss of revenue on LaQuintas end because I was still booking a room. They would not budge on this penalty. So all in all it cost me an penalty of $50 to get started in my Wyndham Rewards benefit. I’m still feeling the pain; hence the title “Rough Start” If there is anyone that could help me remedy this situation I would certainly be grateful.
  • User-friendly and no frills!

    If you’re someone who travels relatively frequently and you oftentimes find yourself staying at hotels by Wyndham—because let’s face it, they’re everywhere now—you’re doing yourself a great disservice by not getting this app. Don’t get me wrong, this app isn’t going to find you the cheapest rate on every hotel in the town you’re looking in, and it’s not going to make you breakfast or put the coffee on for you, but it’s a no frills app that is easy to navigate and find a room that suites your needs. (See what I did there?) Most of the hotels they list are by Wyndham, but not exclusively… anymore. Now they have partners and the like, so it sort of opens up the options; though I prefer to stick with the hotels by Wyndham since they’ve always stood behind their standards in my opinion. Long-story-short, if you’re already a Wyndham’s Rewards member, you really need to check this app out. And if you’re not… well I don’t see why not, since it’s free to sign up, and it saves you money on travel. For the Rewards members: the app also has numerous promotions and additional ways to save and earn more points for future endeavors. It’s really a no-brainer!

  • Depoe Bay Travellodge

    Unfortunately, they’ve changed management once again. Every time I’ve gone, there’s someone new, & when they’re foreigners, it leave’s a lot to be desired in the communication aspect of thing’s. I’ve loved staying there for well over 9 + years, but the constant rollover of management is a bit unnerving, because they don’t know me at all. They’ve changed policies as well, & started by deducting the first night before I even get there. I’ve ALWAYS paid when I get there with no problem. I had to put up with someone upstairs walking across the floor above us like Big Foot until late, & then waking us up at 7am in the morning with the stomping. I was there to enjoy my mini vacation, not wake up because of an inconsiderate person. My companion & I are both disabled & retired, & when we got ready to check out, they had blocked off all the close-up parking, making us haul our belongings up the hill numerous times. It wasn’t particularly appreciated whatsoever. I’m booked again for September & I’m hoping there’s no more surprises & inconvenience, because I love staying there, going to sleep with the door open to the balcony, & listening to the buoy’s & wave’s crashing soothes my mind & soul. I booked a room on the top floor that has a fireplace for my next stay, in the hope’s that King Kong isn’t in the building. Consistency is what I truly appreciate, along with courtesy to guest’s.
