Greatest Check-in App

There’s like one other check-in out there I’m aware of. And this one I like better because it catalogs my trips monthly and yearly. And it’s great for sharing with a small group you trust. Sure, you can use the one apple has or other ones that are jumbled into one as rating places & checking in. But I like how 4Square keeps that separate. And by using it year in and year out. I really enjoy it. It may not be a need for an iPad app. But if it ever comes. I’m downloading this one. Not some other random one.

can’t add new places

I’ve been using Swarm née Foursquare for ~15 years and find great value in it as a journaling tool — super useful when you’re traveling and want to remember a specific restaurant or shop you went to before, etc. However, the app clearly is no longer maintained. I’ve been unable to add new places for months — I go through all the steps (setting the map pin and address, selecting a category, etc.), and every time I get to the end of the flow it says “Oops! Something went wrong. Try again.” Super frustrating and nonspecific error that they clearly don’t plan to address — but hard to see how Swarm will maintain value over time if you can’t add or update places. And this coming from an *extremely* loyal user.

Accessibility for voiceover needs to be improved

I am blind and I use voiceover in order to use my iPhone as a second generation. I like the concept of this app and I used to use it when I was cited. Now, there are many accessibility issues with this app for voiceover users. For example, there are many and labeled buttons and so it makes it hard to know what function the button performs. Also, it keeps giving me an error when I try to sign in with Facebook. Additionally, it is hard to locate items such as home, check in history, etc. There should be designated tabs at the bottom that are easy to locate with voiceover. Please improve the Accessibility!

Love it!!!

I love swarm because it helps me go back to the places I’ve been and what I ordered because it allows you take pictures. You can always share with your friends. If you forget to check in you can always go back. Only thing I wish you are able to change the date. Other than that I’m this gets 5 stars from me!!!

Great app for tracking history of where you’ve been but needs tweaks

I have used this app for a very long time, back when you didn’t need a separate app to check-in to places. I love being able to look back and see where I’ve been on certain days.

The check-in suggestions need improvement when you visit some place that houses multiple locations, such as Costco. It constantly suggests I check into the food court. I’ve never checked into the food court. It should look at where you check in for that area and suggest the last place you checked in as the suggestion.

This app is HORRIBLE

I have been using this app for years. I hate that it won’t allow you to check in retroactively, and you’re forced to use more battery power for it to always be checking your location all day long. I get that for the convenience but I’ve been doing whatever I can since the Blackberry days to preserve battery life throughout the day, and my new iPhone is no different. What crime is it to check-in retrovactively? Even Facebook allows this. I may stop using this app due to this frustration. There should be no issue allowing a user to check-in through airplane mode and date/time manually modified.

No one updating sites anymore

Have made a number of suggestions about venues, some incorrectly marked as permanently closed during the pandemic due to no check ins, but it seems no other super users check for suggestions and support doesn’t acknowledge requests anymore.

Seems like this app was pretty much killed when they split it from the parent app, foursquare 🤷‍♂️

I miss the original 4Square

This app is not what it used to be. I just tried to submit a help request and I keep getting stonewalled by the need for a valid url that is my account. I have an email address and I have an account ID but if I have a url it is very well hidden and efforts to find it result in a complete loss of my editorial efforts.
I have been trying to fix some venues in my area that have been Mis-named by someone who thinks that a big-box department store is only an auto-service centre. Despite having SU1 status, repeated efforts to correct those errors go unprocessed. Swarm/Foursquare sells the tracking data that comes from our check-ins. To be honest…. If people can’t correct bad edits then what really is the value of the data sold when one can’t have confidence in venue descriptions. Definitely not what this app used to be.

Suggestion for the app

I have been usin Swarm for a long time now. As someone who is blind I appreciate the accessibility and how easy the app is to use. The one thing that is difficult for someone who does have some vision is the contrast of the app. At the top of the screen it is yellow with white letters. If these was a way to have the colors different so it is easier to read it would help those who have low vision a great deal. Thank you for the app. I do love it a lot.

Not a fan of recent update

Have always really liked this app, but certainly feel as though this most recent update made things worse, not better. The spacing is really awkward (and looks almost broken in addition to unnecessary white space) and will also chime in that I really dislike the missing timestamps from the main feed (and personal feed). When looking back at a day of mine I like to see the specific times I was at places and it adds a lot of extra taps to have to expand every check-in to see this.
