Swarm user for 11 years here…

The title should tell you enough, I really enjoy this app as I travel the world. (I used Gowalla before Foursquare/Swarm, but FB bought it and killed it.)

Unfortunately, for the last couple years, Swarm development feels like 1 bug fix forward, 2 bugs added backwards.

The biggest bug is that you can’t browse your history. Go ahead and try; after 10-20 entries, it will display the same 10-20 entries again. Infinite loop.

I was trying to look up the name of a bike shop I went to in 2014 in Geneva recently, and it was impossible to do so. Not only is it unusually hard to enter that date range now (really awkward UX for selecting dates) but the search filter didn’t want to respect those date constraints I had entered. It wanted to show me my most recent check-ins with Geneva, and scrolling down just creates that infinite loop bug mentioned above.

The latest update, released late May 2022, has mysteriously removed date/time from check-ins, although there is still room for it, the line is just blank for me for all my check-ins and my friends.

Foursquare still updates the app fairly regularly, but the release notes always just say “Bug fixes and improvements” without specifying what those are. I wonder if the devs even know what those are. And I wonder if there’s anyone QA’ing the app. I get the impression no one developing Swarm actually uses it regularly.

Nice addition idea to add to the app

The application is amazing but missing the ability to send voice notes and the chats getting deleted automatically. It would be nice to make a choice for users wether they want chats to get deleted after a certain time or stay👍🏻, and sending voice notes is way easier for some people than typing.

The love continueth...

Been using Swarm a long time now. Love the regular updates and (occasionally) witty comments 😉. Can you confirm what I'm saving coins for now as I note you can no longer upgrade your badges for bonuses? Also would be great to see more insight coming from personal data, love the last time you we here was, and I'm sure there's a whole lot more waiting to be implemented. Keep up the good work guys, you have a fan 👌

Wish there were more people using this app.

I’ve been using swarm since it was just Foursquare.. I love keeping track of check-ins.. I really hope this app continues to move forward and sparks interests in people using it. If the coins could be used in some way that would be great. I would love to see more people using this too. Always felt it was a clever app and a great way to track a persons journeys and adventures.

Great as a Travel log

Been using Foursquare/ swarm for ages and I’m surprised it’s still being maintained for usability. It’s great to check back on all the places and countries I’ve visited. Although, at this point I’m probably the only person I know using it. It used to be better when places offered coupons for checking in, now it’s not much more than a travel log. Idk what the point of the coins are, I have about 50k.. wish it would make a comeback to be something more.

Best of all the time

I have been using Swarm since I was at the secondary school, my dad was asking me why do you use this app its useless, then the time shows me that, its actually a memory reminder/hunter. Wherever I go i used swarm, now I can go back and remember my past by seeing those locations that I went in Swarm. Names of the places addresses are all there, its just amazing. Kinda writing a dairy :) feels good to see the countries that I went in my entire life

The perfect way to track where you’ve been

I’ve been using Swarm for over 10 years now. Back when it was just Foursquare. I wish I had it sooner to keep up white all the places I’ve visited. As someone who loves to travel I cant think of a better way to look back at all the places I’ve been. Being able to see the location, the day and who I was with is amazing. I only wish more people used it!

It fails all the time

I check in to places I am literally in an get ZERO points for it. This happens multiple times a week. I live in NYC (Manhattan) and walk to places. Don’t think Swarm takes that into account for timing issues. I don’t have to get in & drive everywhere. Hence, my check-ins are seemingly quicker but I’m being penalized by the algorithm for saving the environment & walking. Pathetic really & swarm support is of no help.
They promise to respond and NEVER do. Only thing I get is that they received my message promising follow up that never comes. They fail miserably to support their users. Without whom, there would be no app.

App crashes when viewing monthly recap

This has been an ongoing bug for a few months now. Every time I try to view my monthly recap, Swarm asks me to log in even though I’m already logged in. When I input my login info, the app crashes. I open the app and try again but the cycle continues. I even logged out and logged back in and it still asks me to log in again when I try to view the monthly recap and then crashes. It’s a shame because I enjoy seeing my checkin stats. It’s part of the fun of using the app and checking in to every place I go. Idk if it’s because my account was originally from Foursquare but if you’ve rebranded the app, I feel like that shouldn’t be a problem. It didn’t happen before so it’s worked before. Someone please fix this!

Too Much Background Activity

I’m a long time fan of your app. I appreciate its support for checking my location and suggesting missed check-ins. However, I’ve recently noticed it showing up as having been active in the background for hours on end in my battery report. This has even happened when I’m asleep and the phone is sitting on my bedside table (both plugged and unplugged). Is this a bug? I thought it was only supposed to look for missed check-ins when the phone’s location changes.

I’m a software developer and have collected some screenshots and logs your team may find helpful. Also, I’m willing to join your beta testing team.
