  • Does not work

I agree with everyone else that the timers are broken. I just logged a session, set a 15 minute timer on my apple watch, THEN opened the medela app to start a session. When my 15 min watch timer went off, the app said I pumped 16 min on the left and 21 min on the right. I double pump and also didnt touch the app the entire time. Both numbers should have been less than 15min since I started my watch timer first. I also prefer to set a timer and enter it in the app vs using it as a timer but they make that really hard to do in the new version. It is almost impossible to change the time you pumped and the duration because the boxes are so small and your keyboard just pops up then closes over and over. I really liked the old version but am very close to giving up on this one. If it didnt have my historical data i would have deleted it by now.

  • Delete this app, use Huckleberry instead

I was really happy with this app before the June update but, like other users have noted, the bugs and UX issues made it a total headache to use. I feel like whatever moms that supposedly tested this were other Medela employees and had to give a thumbs up to an already-implemented bad design. I’ve kept up-to-date with the updates, but I’ve yet to see any actual change. Another new mom recommended the Huckleberry app to me and I was using both for a while in hopes Medela would fix the issues sooner rather than later, but now I’m solely using Huckleberry for my tracking. It far exceeds the Medela app in usability and experience (and doesn’t have any noticeable bugs), and the only reason I’m keeping the Medela app around now is to check the battery life on my Sonata when I’m not plugged in.

  • New Version needs major work

**update** Medela contacted and said I was one update behind and that updating my app again will fix my problems. It seemed to for a week. But just now I was nursing and finished and my time seemed off. Sure enough it says I started at 6:45am, finished at 7:03am, and recorded 21 min of nursing. Not sure how this is possible when only 18 min of time had elapsed. My original review below stands. My girl will be one in a week and I won’t be using the app after that.

I used the old Medela App for over 2.5 years before they switched to this new version. And while the old one was annoying to travel between tracking and stats, the new one just doesn’t work as well. When I’m tracking breast feeding and pause for a min for whatever reason, then go back to tracking, it will jump from say 7 min to 12 min. Yet I KNOW it has only been 7 min. This happens more times then it doesn’t and is extremely frustrating. I also dislike when you go to the track session it doesn’t tell you which side you last nursed on. You have to go back to the my baby page to see that. The slider bar to input ounces of formula or milk is annoying. The stats used to be much easier to edit and now it’s like I need a manual to Use the app. It’s glitchy and inconsistent. If I wasn’t a month away from being done with nursing I would find a new app

Hi Jilian52 we released the 5.0.7 update end of last week, could you please install it? Apple says here you are still on v5.0.6. You can enter the volume without using the slider bar just tapping on the volume boxes.
  • The old version was much better :(

In 2019 and the beginning of 2020, this app saved my life. My husband and I both used it on our phones to track bottles and diapers, and I tracked breastfeeding and pumping. It was user friendly and well organized. With baby #2, I just reopened the app to use it again and it’s just terrible. :( It’s very unorganized, timers automatically start when you click to log breastfeeding or pumping that you have to immediately stop and then manually put in your time (unless you have a pump that will connect to the app via Bluetooth). And don’t get me started on logging previous happenings - I came home from the hospital and wanted to log her first 36 hours in the app so everything was in one place, and when it takes about 10 tries to change the time on logging something and the date because they make it so small that you fat finger everything. They have what feels like 5 millions categories now for logging when it was nicer to have the basics - breastfeeding, pumping, bottles, and diapers. Stats gives you the overall for the day but it’s laid out different for each day in a different order depending how what order you logged things. It is just SO hard to navigate efficiently now and it’s difficult to find things!!! Medela, please fix these issues because I am losing my mind after using the app for only 24 hours! I really don’t want to switch to another one but will have to if it stays like this — it’s giving us headaches.

  • Can’t stand the new version

I downloaded this app when it was still the old version. The new version is not user friendly and has glitches. Logging a pumping session after the fact is annoying. I don’t get service in the room where I pump at work, so every time I pump at work, I have to log it afterwards. I finally figured out how to see the actual time of my last pumping or breastfeeding session. On the dashboard or home screen, it just shows how many hours ago the session was which rounds. I like to be able to see the actual time. Lately when I have the app running in the background during a session, when I go back into the app, the time doubles, so I always have to adjust the time to what it should be. I know for a fact the time is wrong because my pump has a timer too. I miss the old version. I wanted a simple app where I could keep track of my pumping and breastfeeding schedule.

  • DO NOT USE THIS APP!

I wish I could give this app 0 stars. Before this last major update, it was the best app. Easy to use, everything made sense, definitely the best tracker app I had used. Now, that’s changed. They said they took feedback from moms to make this new app but they apparently didn’t because I don’t know if any mom who wanted this layout. Nothing makes sense. It is not good for exclusive pumping due to not being able to track both at once (well you can, it just says you pump for an hour instead of 30 minutes🤦🏽‍♀️) and every update they have sent out since the end of June has been to fix mistakes with the new app, yet none of those updates are actually fixing anything. I’ve used this app now for 9 months and now I can’t even use it. Don’t waste your time on this app!!

  • New Update is Awful

After the recent update of the app, it is extremely difficult to use. Logging pump sessions are so difficult and often save inaccurately. I track my output as a whole rather then each breast and for the first week of using the new version I noticed it was doubling the ounces I recorded thinking that was the output for each breast rather than the total. Reading my daily stats is frustrating as everything is summarized into one line. It’s difficult to view individual pump sessions and took me awhile to figure out how to move the display to show every session. Manually entering information takes twice as long and is such a hassle now. I’ve been using this app for 9 months and after this update I’m trying to figure out how to transfer my pump long to another app as this has become too frustrating and cumbersome to use. It’s worth the hassle to figure out how to transfer my data rather than continue using this each day.

Update: I have updated my app to the latest 5.0.6 version and it is still glitchy. I’m finally downloading a new pump tracking app and just keeping this one for historical records.

  • Time is wrong

I used this app two years ago with my first child and loved it. I had my second and quickly redownloaded it- my first week home they changed to a new version which I didn’t love from the beginning. I gave it a shot - currently 4 weeks later and I’m noticing in the last few days that while it’s tracking in the background, the time gets doubled each time I go back to it. Example: I was at 8 minutes at 11pm - opened it back up at 11:05 and it had jumped to 20 minutes - it also seems to mess up my start times. I make sure that the app was closed, then open it to track. It always ends up saying I started 10 minutes earlier than I did when I know for a fact I wasn’t even sitting down at that point. I only use it for tracking feedings and am disappointed and will probably delete it soon because I’m doing more work adjusting to keep track

Hi there We released the 5.0.6 update last week. Has this update solved your problems?
  • Does not work as expected

I’ve been using this app for over a month now, and it’s performance seems to be getting worse. I primarily use the app to keep track of nursing sessions, and here are some of the issues I’ve been experiencing: (I) The start time of a nursing session changes as the session continues. For example, I started a session at 2:51 PM today, but at some point during the session it changed to something like 2:35 PM for no apparent reason; (II) When timing a nursing session, time is randomly added. For example, suppose I’ve been nursing for 9 minutes on the left side, all of a sudden it will say I’ve been nursing for 17 minutes; (III) Some of my saved nursing sessions have “disappeared” from my statistics.

These are just some of the issues I’ve experienced recently. It is frustrating when you cannot rely on the start time and length of the recorded nursing sessions - these are (arguably) some of the main reasons for using this app in the first place. This could be a great app if they could get the features to work correctly.

  • WORST UPDATE EVER

UPDATE: this app is so buggy, I tried giving it another chance, but it adds sessions that I have not logged, it’s really hard to read, it adds minutes or even hours to my sessions and it is very difficult to edit those sessions. This update has been awful.
    *******************************************

UPDATE: I saw the developer response, sorry but the app is super buggy and difficult to use, it really did not save my logs from the day of the update, the data is shown differently and it is hard to read , I can no longer track 2 different things at the same time because only one will continue to be timed, the other one will be paused, the whole update was unnecessarily confusing.
    ********************************************

This new update made the app less user friendly and intuitive, I lost some data and overall I feel it is much slower. It has a lot of unnecessary information that makes it difficult to find what you actually want to see. There was a login error today, which I understand because a few minutes later an error appeared saying they were doing some maintenance, that’s ok, but after I was able to log in the sessions I was tracking were lost. I really dislike that you can’t edit previously saved tracked sessions, it doesn’t show the start time of previous sessions and you can no longer see everything you tracked as a list but only in a graph.
