  • Powerful, a little rough around the edges

I’ve been playing with Money Pro for about a day and while I like it, I’m not 100% sure if I’ll stick with it or move to Jumsoft’s Money.

The biggest pro I see with iBear’s app is its power: entering transactions manually (or importing) is easy, the system of adding/organizing wallets (accounts) is solid, there are a number of useful reporting options, and it uses iCloud sync. Budgeting seems to be comprehensive but a little clunky at first; the Today view is nice, though I’d like the option to change it to a monthly overview of transactions (and not just the temporary view by tapping the date header).

I’d like to see better themes; most of the choices feel tacky, childish, or inconvenient to me (bright fuschia with a patterned background isn’t the easiest on the eyes!). Support for dynamic font sizing would be nice.

Overall, it’s a solid finance app with a lot of options, and if the appearance is tolerable or enjoyable to you, I would recommend it.

  • Great app, but crashes all the time

Don’t get me wrong. This is very good app with a lot of features. The only reason I took out 2 stars is because the app crashes all the time when I hit the back button after creating a budget subcategory. I am not 100% sure whether it is crashing, because when I launch the app switcher on my iPhone X I see the app there. When launch the app from app switcher it is very clear that a new instance is launched. But this is very annoying. I will gladly give the extra stars once the crash is fixed.

  • Just moved from iReconcile

I had been using iReconcile for years, but the recent iOS 11 upgrade killed the app as it has not been updated in four years. That led me to try probably a dozen or more apps yesterday in order to give me the options that I wanted below. It seems that multiple apps give me part of iReconcile that I enjoyed but not the whole package like it had. I tried your Checkbook out and I enjoyed the way that it shows the category with payee’s name, the date, the amount of the transaction, AND the balance after the transaction. That ending balance is what I’m searching for. Also, Checkbook will show you in that same list your upcoming bills and what your balance will be after those bills are paid. IReconcile had these features and it was a huge help. I like Money Pro better than Checkbook, but Checkbook definitely has a couple of the features that I really want and need. Really, the only reason I don’t care for Checkbook is it’s user interface.

    Developer Response

Hi! In order to view your planned transactions for the month, go to the calendar and deselect the current date by tapping it.
  • Just what I wanted

This app is pretty much everything I was looking for in a financial management app. I love that the reports function lets me see how much money came in/out for the month. The customization in icons for transactions is also quite entertaining. The app can be a tad overwhelming at first glance, but once you understand it, it is easily my favorite finance app.

    Update

Lately the iCloud sync has been defective. Twice now, at least two accounts have been de-synced, to the point where there is a twenty dollar discrepancy with the accounts at all times between my MacBook and iPhone. I tried to fix it via backups and the backups ended up getting corrupted. I have now lost all of my accounts and have to build them from scratch.
