First impression

I recently downloaded this app, and it everything seems just fine, however, the very first thing I noticed was the the word “organization” was spelled wrong. I understand that this is not deal breaker, but as a business owner myself, I know that first impressions are extremely important, especially when small discrepancies can be easily avoided. Once again, the app appears to work just fine. I would recommend fixing that typo.

Too expensive

If you need more than 20 entries a month (which is basically 10 trips) you need to upgrade $13.5 a month, seriously? If it was a one time thing that’s ok but $162 a year? That’s too much

Response from developer

Hi Maher, thank you for taking the time to give us a review! I'm sorry to hear that you find our pricing too expensive and we are currently looking into adjusting out prices. Perhaps we will be able to offer a price that you also find reasonable! If you have any other feedback, please let us know at support@∂riversnote.com. All the best, nadja from driversnote

Great app!

For over 25 years I have worked as an outside sales rep, and keeping track of business miles has been a major headache for me, especially when I had two or three different cars in one year! In addition to the hassle of trying to keep up with it everyday, I dreaded separating personal miles from business miles and compiling all the data for each car on the IRS Form 2106 at tax time! That task consumed many hours and was a major headache! I just downloaded this app about 5 hours ago.... still much to learn about it. But this a great mileage app! Now I can easily track my small fleet of four vehicles that I use in one business, plus my personal vehicle. I can easily track mileage for all of them and switch back and forth between “business” use and “private” use with one touch of the screen! Wow! And how easy to print a PDF report for each car by week, month or year.....and it’s so easy to send the file to my OneDrive cloud and save the reports to my laptop! It amazes me that it does all this in the FREE version! Great job, guys! I can’t wait to learn more about the iBeacon automatic tracking feature which apparently tracks your mileage without you needing to turn on your phone! Unbelievable....

Hi Joe, thanks for the kind words! We're so happy you like our app so far, and we hope it'll serve you well. One thing to be aware of: The iBeacon will help you track trips automatically, but your phone still needs to be turned on. Happy tracking and best regards, Thomas

Better than the rest

I tried MileIq and this is way better. It tracks my mileage and doesn’t stop and reset at lights or in traffic which is good to track my mileage for business purposes. I also like the notes features it allows me to add/edit information about the trip. I have recommended this to my coworkers who also track mileage.

Terrible

I liked this app when I initially had it. Then it started to “jump” my driving around. It did not track properly the km I was driving and clocked random roads that don’t exist (as the crow flies instead of on the actual roads). I sent photos of what it was doing to the developer. They couldn’t help me. They offered a refund to me (that I never received) and I cancelled my subscription. Only to my surprise to be notified that I was charged for a new year subscription for an app that I cancelled and one that does not work. Emailing the developer has been useless as they are not returning or acknowledging my emails. Stay far away from this app. There are far more reliable ones out there.

Hi Sgcj, we're so sorry to hear this. If we did not get this sorted, will you please get back to us so we can rectify the situation? You can reach on us support@driversnote.ca. Thank you!

20 trips/Month limit

I somewhat enjoyed the app until I received an e-mail saying I went over my 20 trip/month limit. It counts return drives as a separate trip, so it’s easy to go over the limit. I thought the upcharge was only if you do iBeacon and $10/month is too costly. I also would forget to log a return trip or run an errand after a job, and those instances need to be entered by hand. Otherwise, I enjoyed the option of choosing whether it was for charity or business since I drive a lot of charity miles.

USES WAY TOO MUCH DATA

every time I open it to use it, which isn’t too often it eats up all my data for the month in just a couple uses. Otherwise it’s been good but don’t get this app. It will cost you way too much to use.

Response from developer

Thank you for your message. There's no precise estimate of data usage. It varies and is relative to how often you use the app to track trips. The app itself actually doesn't need data to track trips, it utilizes the GPS network to track your position. It only needs data to synchronize with our server, which can be done when you're on a wifi network. Just remember to have the Driversnote app running in the background. If you have it running on the main screen it consumes data, because Google Maps are showing the route you're driving, which it uses data for. Feel to write again if you need more info or have questions about mileage reimbursement. Plain rude.

I’ve been using this app for almost a year for free, now they’ve limited the number of trips I’m allowed to 20/month. Ridiculous.

Perfect app for occasional users.. can’t believe it is free

I just wanted to take a couple of minutes to write and say thanks for making such a great app and website. I only use my vehicle for work trips very occasionally so needed an app that works for my low use and yours does exactly that. Being able to retrospectively add journeys through the website which then calculate the distance and tax allowance is such a great feature and I wish I had discovered your app before having to do my U.K. tax return in January.

One possible suggestion would be the ability to choose route options when adding them in manually, although now I have discovered the app I hopefully won’t have to add things in the future by hand!

I don’t use my car nearly enough to justify a monthly or annual subscription but would happily pay a one time fee to keep the service exactly as it is now. Maybe you could offer the first 20 trips for free then as well as your existing plans offer an “X” trips per month one time purchase for a few pounds? Must be kind of crazy a user is asking to be charged something! I just think there must be other self employed people like me who are very light users who would also just pay once as they can’t justify the ongoing monthly cost.

Anyway, thanks again for making a real great app. I hope that you are able to keep it maintained now I have found it and made it part of my work journeys.

Promising app but expensive.

The App is great and easy to use but when I reached 20 trips I was informed that I had to subscribe to a 6.99 per month fee to extend this. Which is just far too expensive. I now have to delete all my personal trips and for buisneses trips keep the app recording for the entirety of my return trip to minimise the number of trips which has taken some of the shine off my opinion. A modest one off fee of 2.99 would be better for a 'lite' version maybe 6.99 for the automatic version using smartphone GPS rather than a separate device... It's a competitive area so I'm going to try another...

Hi Chris, Thank you very much for taking the time to write. I have forwarded your mail to our sales department, so they can have it in mind when updating and revising our information about pricing and subscription in both the app and website. Currently, you're on the Lite Version of our app, which is free but has a limit of 20 trips per month. A very minor detail: the monthly subscription is GBP 6.50. We wish you all the best and good luck with 2018.
