  • Just superb - and straightforward

Right from first launch this was intuitive to use which I found an improvement over the Mac version which I learnt and then forgot! It seems to offer every feature you could reasonably imagine and then adds even more and usually in a beautiful way. It’s gorgeous to look at and very easy to use. It’s really quick on my Air. The new watercolour brushes make an outstanding app even … more outstanding. Can’t fault it for creating, editing, retouching or whatever. Wonderful.

  • Amazing creative application

I have the desktop application which as extremely well supported with consistent updates and new features as this iPad version. I am a novice but Pixelmator has enabled me to produce some great results and have delivered value way beyond there cost. Highly recommended!
  • Good, but...

Pixelmator for the iPad is kind of a jack of many trades, but not really a master of anything. The new brushes are awesome, but doing any kind of layout with its many limitations (a tiny font size maximum and lack of gradient controls, for example) are a pain. So, there's a lot of good here, but it certainly isn't going to replace the apps that really are the masters of what they do.

  • Powerful

This app is rich in features. The amount of brushes you have to choose from is incredible. I enjoy having shapes and layer effects. The only feature I want is the editable shapes and text which I'm sure they're working on. The multi-layer editing is great for on the go graphic design. Pixelmator Has a great team behind it and having owned the Mac version for quite a while I can honestly say updates and fixes are common they don't release stuff and forget about it. It can only get better.

Just because it's a five star review doesn't mean it's fake...Some people will actually appreciate the work that went into this app.

  • Nice, but not quite.

This is one of the best photo editing apps for iPad. However, it's still light years behind the desktop version (which in all fairness, can also be said about the Mac vs iOS Photoshop). Some tasks which are simple and quick on the desktop either take too many steps on this app or are not even possible (there's no "Invert Selection" or a Paint Bucket Fill -- why?!?) It also does not support any shortcuts if you have a bluetooth keyboard connected, which would be very useful.

I should probably give it 3 stars but I do give them extra credit for being on the right track. I know an iPad app can never 100% replace the Mac version, but there are some glaring holes in the iOS Pixelmator which leave me scratching my head and thinking "Wait, I can't do the basic task of ABC, but they included the ability to do XYZ which I will probably never use???"

  • Not my cappuccino

I love art and only purchased as it was advertised high rated. Basically in my opinion photoshop express upgrade version is better with the effects plus a whole heap more , and then open up in art studio with same layer options, and art studio to edit and draw with not to mention a tone load of options plus the abr app is good to extract brushes and use with art studio etc .
I would imagine some creative work can be done with this app and is clean to look at, but I write my honest opinion and feel write up I have read is far fetched. Plus I think apps on AppStore should come with a 1-3 day trial version first.
But app is ok'ish and for price is good.

  • Exactly what i needed

This app is so well conceive. It's an almost complete photo editor and for my use, it is on par with its mac counterpart. I can finally edit my pictures on the go without traveling with my mac.

This app is worth its price.

    :D
  • Layers and selecting are amazing

I can't believe this app is only 5 bucks. It feels so powerful!
  • Great app

This is really nice. Simple yet powerful, it makes my iPad so much more useful. I use it all the time, as I take many photos.

I have bought hundreds of apps from the App Store, and this is the first one that is absolutely perfect. The best app I've ever had. I have absolutely no problem with it at all. Don't use this as an excuse to stop innovating, you can be the best of the best of the best.

I don't really get why you didn't make an iPhone version. I understand that the 5 and 5s are too small, why not the 6 and 6 plus? They are incredibly powerful and person, I take MUCH more photos with my iPhone 6. I would use Pixelmator a lot more. If I have a photo I want to edit, I have to take part in the lengthy process of transferring it over to my iPad. I think it would be much easier to add compatibility to iPhones. If you do is, then Pixelmator will be a truly great app.

  • Truly Impressive

It was a great pairing with my new iPad Air 2. I mostly use it for the repair tool, which does such a good job. I created a movie poster with it and was impressed with the level of control over the image. I was able to specify exact pixel dimensions, which I never would have suspected I could do.

It looks great, runs like a dream and I can see it becoming part of a serious workflow for both iPhone- and SD-card-based purposes.
