Its an outdated piece of software that is not actually improved anymore. It tends to crash, screw up text layers and it cannot save correctly. If you want to spend your time for it to be wasted by the recent failure of the developers that reduced the quality of their apps performance. The UX is terrible. It used to be my goto for year before the update changed the look of a lot.Show lessBran321

Thank you for your honest feedback. We hear you — Pixelmator is, indeed, one of the older apps out there, but we're still dedicated to making it better. We're fixing problems that popped up with iOS 17 (the app quitting unexpectedly) and tweaking things to improve Pixelmator without changing it too much for our long-time users. It doesn’t do it every time but sometimes mid project I’ll leave the app via multitask and I see the Pixelmator canvas go black and I lose the project.
Also one quick edit: can there be a version of the a-b line that doesn’t start in 45 degree angle? Either vertical or horizontal? I’ve utilized the “rotate” option but it still seems un-levelShow lessMike__Hawk

Amazingly powerful, but prone to crashing or freezing in Fall 2023. Have to force-quit often. If you exit app mid-edit, when you return via multitasking, the app will often just show a black screen.

Implementing HDR in Pixelmator is challenging because of certain technical limitations, which prevent us from providing a seamless HDR viewing and editing experience... However, we're working on bringing HDR support to our other app — Photomator — where it will be fully and smoothly supported.What a great option for those of us on older IPads…
I recently purchased Pixelmator. And let me tell you, this app has been a dream come true! I currently run 4 IPad Air 2’s in my music, film and graphic studio. And there just is not many options out there for those of us running older IPads to edit decently, without having to pay monthly fees, which I have always refused to do on any software! The more I learn how to do on this software, the better and better it appears to be for all of your basic and even some more advanced features! For the price, to features ratio, you simply cannot go wrong. There are ways to do almost everything basic you need to do. Some of the things are a different way than you may be used to. But it all works in the end. After spending about 8 hours so far on the software, I can say, I am very happy with my purchase. The only issue, was how hard this software was to find initially when I was searching options for my situation. Not enough people talk about this software in reviews or articles. Feels Abandoned
This used to be an amazing app, and Pixelmator puts out some amazing products in Photomator and Pixelmator Pro on the Mac. However, this app feels forgotten about. It doesn’t have any of the new ML tools in Pro and Photomator, it doesn’t have a UI that feels cohesive with those apps, and it just feels dated. I mean, the tool navigation alone is enough to put anyone off this app.
Also it has weird quirks like how there is only a color dropper on the paint and erase tool, but not on any other tool with a color picker. It just doesn’t make sense when Pro and Photomator have such wonderful, thoughtful UIs, and this app is still stuck in 2010.Show lessAMcKWolf
Very good but there’s some things that could be added
1 able to add textures to your text
2 able to change the opacity on the shadows
Also when I go to erase parts of a text I can’t use a brush to add back the text
3 able to add more than one shadow

iOS interface
I absolutely hate unintuitive Pixelmator’s iOS interface. Nothing is obvious like in desktop apps. Everything is a detective work. How do you reverse a selection? Where is it buried? Wher is the cut and paste menu? Why just not make same interface as on Mac, so whatever was learned there can be easily use on iOS and vice versa. Frustrated beyond belief.Show lessperiskop
Can’t Use This App
Just paid $9.99 plus tax, downloaded and launched. iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16.6, 700 Mbps internet connection and can’t even create a new blank file. App just hangs with the timer circle going around for more than 10 minutes before I give up, multiple times. Wish I knew how to get my money back.Chontong
