  • Pay wall

Once you finish your trial you will have to subscribe. You won’t be able to enter your account until you do that. I find it really silly to do this, the app is very outdated to begin with. It doesn’t give any sort of motivation to keep writing. It’s a simple app, but way too simple and so boring to look at. They should have made it as a paid app instead of a subscription base. It’s not really worth a lot for a subscription from the way it looks. I’d turn to something else.

Thank you for the review and feedback. We are currently working on a new version that addresses these issues based on your and others feedback. Because it is quite a big update it takes some time so we are aiming to have it out at the end of this year (2024). Thanks for giving Word Keeper a try and check back with us soon, we have big things in store for writers. 😊
  • Simple, Yet Perfect

I had gone on a hunt for something like this app, perusing articles and review sites to find what I wanted, but found that the apps people recommended were way too involved. I wanted something simple, clean, and easy-to-use. I wanted to be able to track my words and also have a goal in place so I could watch that progress bar fill up and get my little boost of endorphins. That’s it.

What I found in this app was precisely what I needed, and I’ve used it ever since. I now have two projects in progress on the app and it keeps me happily churning forward with both. My critique partner (also an author) is using and loving it as well. Great app!

  • Fantastic!

This is such a simple and perfect app to track writing progress. It has a clean interface and a clear concept, which ensures it is not over the top with needless features that overcomplicate.

I use this app to track my progress on novel writing and to keep myself accountable. Daily word count target and easy percentage based progress bars. Perfect!

The only feature I would like to see (nice to have), is a PDF export of a project that includes the existing numbers and charts.

  • Scam-what irony in the name “word keeper”

It says one week free trial, then it charges you immediately. DO NOT GO FOR THE YEARLY OPTION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE $30 in your account before the 7 day trial is up, because they will charge you immediately. I went for the $3 option. The 7 day free trial would’ve ended after I received my monthly income, but they CHARGED IMMEDIATELY. I wrote them and ask what was going on. They always have the option to reverse it immediately if it was a glitch. No explanation. Just said to talk to Apple if I wanted a refund. The problem is a refund takes a few days, and this morning the overdraft is already on my account. A few people in my writing group said the same happened to them. I have done free trials before subscription cost, and nobody has ever done this before. I have app subscriptions for 4 TV channels that offered free trials as well as writing app subscriptions. They have so little confidence in their product that they need to lure people in this way, or are they a company on the fritz and need every dime they can get.

  • My Favorite App

This app does exactly what you want it to do!! in fact, it will almost certainly exceed your expectations. I keep it on my home screen and use it basically every day. It’s like a little accountability partner you carry around in your pocket. Love it!!
  • Unethical and secretive marketing practices

I downloaded this app and it immediately wanted my email address for a free trial. They have a subscription model that they want me to pay for, but after spending half an hour searching the Internet, reviews, and the app itself, nowhere does it state what the subscription price is. Even after entering my email address into the app it does not tell me how much it's going to cost me if I want to keep using it. So over these bunk, manipulative subscription models. Stop trying to rip us off. I deleted my account and deleted the app immediately. Transparency = a feeling of honesty. Lack of transparency = looks like you're hiding something that you don't want me to know about. I'm not playing your ridiculous, manipulative sales games. Goodbye.

Update: the developer responded by saying they made these changes to comply with user feedback. So in removing the requirement to create an account to take part in a free trial, they've found the only possible option is to completely remove any information about plan pricing? Ok.........

That sounds like a really complicated dev problem to resolve, so I sat down and brainstormed solutions. I came up with one! Here it is: add a pricing page. lol

Thanks for your feedback. We used to have it so that users had to sign up for the subscription in able to do a free trial, that view showed the subscription price. After listening to our users feedback, people wanted to be able to have a tree train without having to commit to a subscription first, so we implemented the ability to do that. You won’t be charged for anything, when your free trial is over, you will be printed with a screen on how much the subscription costs. There are also ways to sign in without using your email,l via Apple or Google. We do appreciate your feedback as it makes Word Keeper the best productivity app for writers out there, so we’ll put more information about pricing etc when you sign up. Thanks again for you have any more questions feel free to contact us at contact@wordkeeper.app
  • Dark theme please

Hello writing app. Can you give a Dark theme option please?
I can’t see it on white screen. Yours sincerely

    Developer Response

We have many themes to choose from. If you tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the Home tab there is a menu with Themes on it. Tap “Themes” and choose from 4 different options, including dark of course. If you have any more questions or feedback please feel free to reach out to us at contact@wordkeeper.app
  • It could have been okay.

I bought the yearly subscription, then it logged me out and would not let me access it again. I asked for a refund because I don’t know what else to do.
  • Amazingly useful tool for writers

I have tried using many time management tools in conjunction with tracking my word count, but nothing rivals this app. I can see my progress and projected finish times based on my actual productivity (assuming, of course, I’m entering accurate times and numbers). I also like the built-in timer—which would be a great widget at some point in this app's developmental future.

It is user-friendly and interesting to follow as I work on my projects, and it deserves support.

Thanks for the review! We appreciate your feedback and are really glad it helps you with your productivity. We’ll pass the feedback on to our team and can hopefully get that implement, thanks again!
  • Frustrating and buggy

Started ok though not all that intuitive at least for me. Now when I go into a project it just bails on me. I had a full year subscription paid for but canceled. Now even though apple says my access runs though May 2023, the app says deadline exceeded and password no longer works. Wasted $29.
