  • Simple to Use

Great app for keeping track of word counts and motivating you with progress and stats. Very easy to use.
  • Requires a ridiculous subscription. Don’t bother

I would give it zero stars if I could. So sick of these companies ripping people off with subscriptions. You end up paying thousands of dollars for a 2 dollar app.
I hope this business model dies soon. Please stop paying subscriptions and companies will stop that model. Let’s get back to when apps were a dollar.

I just want a tool I can buy and not pay monthly for. I’d gladly pay a one time fee for an app. Even if it was 30 dollars.

We are aware that some companies try to trick people into subscriptions, this why we state clearly in our apps description and before you sign up that it is a subscription app. We take our app very serious and want to continually provide our customers with updates and new features and to do that we need money to pay designers, software engineers and other costs the app has. We did try it as a paid app and unfortunately it would have to be a really high priced app in able for it to work out. Perhaps a solution could be to offer a “lifetime subscription” at a higher price, but it would have to be high enough to cover the costs of a user for a few years which would be pretty pricey. We are always listening to our users and if you have a better solution that will work out for our users and continue to let us continue to keep updating the app, we’d love to hear it. Thanks again for your feedback, best wishes to you and your writing.
  • Still as good as I remember and excellent customer service

I stopped using this app for a few months. When I downloaded it again, I saw that it is now subscription based. Of course this infuriated me. When I bought it, the fee was for a one-time purchase. I contacted the Devs. They responded back within a few short hours, confirmed my information and promptly activated my account so that I would have the lifetime subscription that I had technically already paid for. The person was pleasant, helpful, responsive and quickly fixed my problem without a single one of the headaches you would normally expect from this type of issue. I am beyond happy that they honored my initial purchase, and highly impressed with the service and fast response time. The app itself is also just as wonderful as I remember. THIS THIS THIS is how you run a business. Other app companies should take note. Thanks for the wonderful service, and I will now be keeping a sharp eye out for additional products you may offer in the future. 👍

Thank you so much! Glad we could get the issue solved fast and easy. If you ever have any more issues just let us know! 😊
  • Nothing is Free! Read Carefully

Though it states “in app purchases” when you can install the app, it’s very misleading. You begin by creating an account and are IMMEDIATELY sent to a “choose which subscription you want...” Yes...you do get a week free, but that’s a marketing scheme.

Recommendation for the app creator: give the user SOME small thing for free if they’re going to provide you with account information. If not, then allow the user the opportunity to delete their account once they realize their only “next step” after creating one is to choose their subscription. This will sound unusual, but my advice is to look at a push up counting app, and see what they offer for free, and what “add-ons” the account holder can purchase.

Better late than never, but we've changed it now so you don't have to commit to a subscription before trying it out. Just create a new account and immediately enjoy a 7 day free trial. No strings attached. Give it a try and let us know what you think. 🙂
  • Features?

The listed features look amazing, but I can’t seem to find where they are. My home screen tells me I have no scheduled writing for the day, but there’s no place to schedule anything. I thought this was because I don’t have the proper subscription, but I can’t find anyplace to add a subscription or check what it actually is from within the app. I wish I could love this app but so far I’m just frustrated that there are no instructions for how to use the features listed on the app page.

Thanks for your feedback. Don’t worry, everything is included in the subscription available. We understand this can be frustrating, we are working on a better tutorial, sorry for the inconvenience. The idea of the app is this: You create a project and you enter writing sessions for that project. When creating a project, you choose which days to write on and daily tasks are automatically created each morning for those days. Those daily tasks show up on the home page. Feel free to contact us at contact@wordkeeper.app and we’ll answer any more questions you may have. 😊
  • Awesome

I really enjoy this app. I like that it knows the ideal length per genre, and that I can also make my own word count. Uploading an end date, cover, description, are all nice touches too.
I just wish they had it for the MacBook so I could update my progress on there too.

    Developer Response

Thanks, glad you like it! We are working on a Mac version as well, stay tuned! 😊
  • Really don’t care for the update.

I liked the old version, but the new version trades convenient tracking and viewing for bells & whistles like uploading images. The aesthetic and maneuverability through the app leaves a lot to be desired.
  • Where is my account????

I bought this and now I don’t have access anymore to my account...

    Developer Response

When did you buy it? All users that bought it before the latest update should have access. If you don’t then please send us a mail to contact@word keeper.app and we can help you sort it out.
  • Disappointed

I most likely won’t keep this beyond the free trial. I can’t update my one and only project because every time I go into settings, the app closes. I was really looking forward to using this, but I won’t pay for something when I get no use out of it.
  • Data representation 😳 and other suggestions

Hi word keeper, this new version shows great potential, but the way it presents stats is a little disappointing.

    Data representation:
The “words” section is definitely not working right. I entered the word count in the writing phase but still the “highest” per day shows a number that’s clearly wrong. And the pixels look weird.

Also, please display the corresponding dates for “highest”. The “lowest” in words/day really isn’t necessary as the lowest would be days when I didn’t write at all...

I believe a rank of most productive days with the word count + dates (as in the older version) is much more helpful than simply “highest”. This way you eliminate the outlier days when I happen to be writing much more than I usually do, hence give a more informative / realistic representation of my productivity.

Another old version function I found to be helpful is the recent daily / weekly / annual word count graph. Personally I’m more interested in how much I actually wrote instead of how long or when I wrote. After all, I use this app as a word count tracker, not a habit tracker.

If you could label the Y axis in Phases it would be great. I’m still trying to figure out what it means.

The “time” session doesn’t display the current date/week/month. The month is in MM instead of MM/YY. I recently realised that all this time I’ve been looking at Nov/2018 stats in stead of 2019. When I click on a date I should be able to bring up an analogue from which I can select the date I want to see.

    Other suggestions:
Should be able to click on tasks to add session.

Vertical list of project makes more sense than horizontal. For one thing, that way you can show project names under the icons.

Petition to bring the surprise achievement badges back!

Would love to see new themes/fonts.

What’s so great about the older design is the simplicity of its interface. This newer version feels cumbersome for some reason. I’m sure with some minor tweaks the functionality will be much improved.

I understand that to polish this many functions all at once is a lot of work, but this really is an unique app and I cannot do without it. Keep up the good work!

Really great feedback, thanks for sharing. Would just like to say that we are constantly collecting feedback, polishing and working on new features. So thanks for the suggestions, it helps us make Word Keeper better. In the next version (should be out by the time you read this), tapping on a daily task will take your directly to the project where you can either start a timer to create a session. Also back in the next version is a toggle switch on the projects view so you can switch between horizontal and vertical project layouts (along with a tittle under the horizontal layout). Achievements are definitely coming back! We have them in the planning as well as color themes. As for your other suggestions, we are going over each section and polishing/improving/fixing and the Words section definitely needs some love. We’ll take your suggestions with us when improving them. Thanks again for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. If you have any more feedback or issues please feel free to contact us at contact@wordkeeper.app.
