  • Good App, Great Support, Wish for Revising Mode

Now that I’ve had the app a few weeks, I have to say it has been quite a motivator. I have learned that if you are sprinting and lost the screen, you need to reopen (double click on iPhone) rather than opening the app again fresh or you will lose your timer and progress. There was a bit of a learning curve, but I am figuring things out. I will be receiving an Apple Watch next week and look forward to trying out that feature.

My only wish is that there were some progress monitoring for revision mode. I spend less than half of my writing time actually drafting, so it would be nice to track progress while working on editing my books.

Revised from 4 stars to 2 for the following reasons. I have had this app for several months. First off, don’t get excited about the Apple Watch complication. All it does is give you the chance to run your timer remotely. Now if it tapped my wrist when the timer was up, then I’d be happy. But see, that’s the thing. The timer runs but NEVER gives you an alarm of any sort when it is over! When I brought it to their attention, they said they would fix it with the next update. Apparently they don’t do updates because nearly a year later—nada. Second problem is no revision mode. Writers spend more than half of their time revising but there is no way to track that progress. If they fixed those two things, I would give it 5 stars, because I do still use it for the short time I am drafting. I’m just disappointed that they have told several customers that they will add a revision feature and they never do.

  • Great

    Great app!
  • Incredible tool

Whoever had a hand in the development of this app must have been a writer themselves. This is such a powerful asset for any writer. This provides the user with loads of helpful information to improve his/her craft. If you have a story to tell, and you want to do it right, utilize tools like these that are available to you.

Thank you! We do indeed have a writer involved in the continuing development of this app. Also we love to listen to the feedback that our awesome users give us. Thanks so much for the outstanding review and we wish you the best with your writing. :-)
  • This App's Description is Somewhat Misleading

When I bought this, I thought that it was an app that I could type my stories directly into (and be able to organize them that way), and that it would give me an overview of my writing from there - not having to manually upload only the word count and session times myself and then having it track that.

For what it is, it looks great. But, honestly, I wish I had known all of the details before I bought it :/

Also, how am I supposed to time my sessions with this app - with the in-app timer - while writing? I don't like that I have to use another device.

All in all, eh. I wish I hadn't spent six bucks on something I don't feel like I was informed well enough about.

Sorry to hear Word Keeper wasn't what you were expecting. Perhaps try an app like Scrivener, a great app for writing. (We are not affiliated) You can use Word Keeper on the same iOS device that you write on, simply start the timer in Word Keeper, switch to the app you write in. When when you are done writing, switch back to Word Keeper and stop the timer. The only thing you have to do after that is enter your total word count, Word Keeper does the rest. We hope that you can still enjoy the many statistics and charts that Word Keeper provides. Happy Writing!
  • This app is awesome.

I like keeping track of my writing sessions, it makes me feel more productive and it’s actually easier to get down to those brass tacks when I know I can be productive. I like the finely tuned controls of the app, and to be honest my only complaint so far is that I wish it was a little more finely tuned.

I have found several apps previous to this before and have never stuck with them. This one is different partially because I can sync it with all my devices, but because I can have a complication on my Apple Watch to show how much of my writing goal I have completed for today.

This app is super! I would buy it all over again, knowing now how much I love it!

  • Must use their data server

I don’t know I must register for an account to use this app when they could have simply leveraged iCloud. A stupid and unnecessary gateway.
  • Write On!

I'm really enjoying this app. It's helping me stay motivated and I love all the stats it provides.
  • So far so great

I've recently downloaded this app after using many other word count tracking apps. The creators of this one deserve a look.

They've put a lot of time into making the app attractive and functional. It's easy to use and it provides a lot of very useful stats. The way it displays your daily word count goals and tracks your sessions also provides a strong visual incentive to hit your daily goals. You see each day's time-clock filling up and really don't want to stop before it's full. It's a good use of human psychology to encourage greater output.

In short, this is a solid app from a responsive team and it has all the numbers you need, as a producing writer, to understand, increase, and even predict your progress.

    Thanks!

  • Great but...

This is a great app that I use all the time. But, it's crashing lately and I haven't been able to access in a while.

They've updated the app quite a bit. Haven't had a chance to check it out but seems like it's not crashing anymore

Thanks for the 4 star review! We've recently re-done the app from the ground up. This has fixed a lot of bugs and crashes as well as added a whole slew of new features. Give it a try if you haven't yet and let us know what you think. :-)
