  • Missing one thing.

Great navigation, but i just wish it could announce directions out loud while I was driving. I don't know if adding a CarPlay app is possible, but that would be pretty cool. Just need it to announce, and it would be perfect!

EDIT due to developer response: turns out it was just messed up and it can announce! absolutely lovely app guys, keep up the good work!

Hello! Thank you for leaving us your feedback, it is much appreciated. To enable directions announcements, please follow OsmAnd menu - Navigation - Options - Sound On - three dots - choose your language for voice guidance. As for the CarPlay, we are working our best to get the corresponding permit from Apple and implement this feature in 2021. Stay tuned not to miss it. If any further questions arise, feel free to contact us via contactus@osmand.net Best regards, OsmAnd Team
  • Highly recommended

Download this app! Uses Open Street Maps data, can download entire country maps to use offline, TONS of features. I’ve used Apple & Google maps, HereWeGo, maps.me, & a countless number of little known navigation & travel apps & prefer this app in conjunction with Apple maps. Car navigation times are longer than actual & there’s no traffic data but amazing on the ground detail. In app purchases to unlock more features are reasonably priced.

  • Incredible app!

This app has every single trail and little crevasse of the world mapped out, plus you can see where you are even offline, 11/10!
  • Crashes on iPad

App does not work on iPad, crashes every time you try to download a map. Useless
  • Lost all my maps

I paid for all the maps now it’s back to o only have 5 free maps tried to restore purchases but no go. It’s in my purchase history but not recognizing it. Something is seriously wrong. That makes this useless for offline maps

  • The best offline OS map app

I have 36 paid and free map apps. They are all good for different reasons but this one is the best overall simply because the screen looks great, particularly with the contours and shadowing.

Having said that, here’s where a great app could be better, in order of priority:

There needs to be a choice of the type and size of waypoints and other Pois . They are too big.

The same thing applies to GPX tracks, trips and routes.

When reading a large description that has been added to a point, the text size is too small to read.

The app is quite clunky and takes quite a lot of getting used to. For example the system for saving things could allow folders that could be named by the user to place pois, routes, tracks, photos, notes etc.

The map doesn’t seem to adjust to your current position.

    Works very well
  • Great for cyclists.

I found this map to be awesome for cycling. Once you put in your directions you can view lots of details about the route that are not available in other maps like google and definitely no Apple. Things like the type of road surface. Asphalt, concrete, dirt etc. Max and minimum altitude, along with elevation gain and loss plus a detailed elevation profile. Unlike google maps, you get this info in the car drive mode and not just the bike. The map is very customizable so it may be frustrating to use initially, but if you spend the time to learn how to use it, you’ll be rewarded with getting detailed info not found in other maps. I gave it 4 stars because they could have made the navigation around the map a little more intuitive to use.

  • Essential.

A long-time review that’s very deserving: I’ve used this app for three bicycle tours (ie. wilderness) over 7 years and its never let me down. Its fast and precise at loading open source data, views, highlights, ways of navigating. The GUI is clear and keeps things simple when dealing with these levels of granularity. A special delight it loading geo-located Wikipedia articles. Route-mapping is infinitely better than Google, Apple etc. I basically would’ve been in a bad spot many a time without it. Big respect to the devs and people designing this; online mapping seeks to reduce the world to tarmac-roads-and-businesses-you-can-visit, this app exposes all the complexity and beauty of it. Thanks!

  • OSM is free...

I don’t like being charged for something that is free. Something that I contributed to.
People submit things to OSM under the impression that it will not cost any money for others to use. So why are you making me pay for “unlimited map updates”? It shouldn’t cost you any money at all for server hosting or anything like that. OpenStreetMap has their own.
