  • Musical Mastery Made Easy! Waay is the easiest, fastest possible way to learn music theory

Discovering Waay has been an absolute game-changer in my musical journey! As someone who's sought to unravel the mysteries of music theory for years, I've finally found a home with this incredible app. The way it breaks down complex concepts into digestible, bite-sized pieces is revolutionary. Alex's crystal-clear videos coupled with practical application exercises have truly transformed my understanding. What sets Waay apart is its clever timer system, gently nudging when to revisit concepts for reinforced learning. For the first time, I feel grounded in music theory, and I can't recommend this app highly enough. It's a must-have for any songwriter or music enthusiast aiming to master the language of music.

  • Best music theory learning app out there!

I just want to say this app is completely amazing and incredible amount of work must have gone into this. I have been looking for an app just like this to complete my learning between music classes and this has everything I need and more. It’s easy to follow short lessons and exercises.

    I highly recommend!

  • Subtitles needed.

    Please add subtitles to videos.

Added after Developer's response: to be more precise: I'm not referring to subtitles for hearing impaired or watching videos without sound, but for people who aren't proficient in spoken English. English subtitles would greatly assist all foreigners using this app.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback! Because of the musical examples in the videos, I'd be hesitant to encourage low (or no) volume listening with the videos as too much would be missed. But I'd be happy to chat about this more if you wanted to drop me an email (just tap "Get in touch" in the sidebar). Thanks and have a great week! -Alex
  • Very Helpful Tool, bought the $6 monthly membership, Love it!

I always played percussion instruments… struggled with music theory and understanding it. This App was so in depth and the exercises really help your retain and understand the lessons. I had some confusion when it came to learning the fast scales and how to apply the “order of sharps/flats” but I am already a difficult learner so I may have just been confused. But use google to help get clarity in lessons if needed, and it’s definitely worth the $6 a month as it gets more advanced and detailed.

  • For me, this has been the one that stuck!

I’ve been using the app consistently for two weeks, and my level of understanding for music theory is the highest it’s ever been by far. The lessons are great, but what’s especially good in my opinion is the practice feature. I’ve been spending just a bit of time each day to go back through exercises I’ve already done and try them again, and at this point certain aspects of music theory are starting to feel like second nature to me!

I’d like to give a big thank you to the developer, and encourage anyone trying to learn music theory to try this app!

  • It’s finally sinking in

Your app has made it really sink in and the practice courses are a great memorization tool. The reminder to play our instrument and use what we’ve learned to write songs is extremely helpful as well. In school it felt very academic and you’ve brought the “play” back in playing and learning about music.

  • The best way to learn theory if you’re a visual learner

I have tried many other ways to learn music theory on my own and have failed until now. The way this has been explained just clicks in my brain because I can actually see how music theory works with the animated videos. I’m excited to continue understanding my music with this app. Thank you for putting in a way that I can understand!

  • Engaging and informative!

Excellent app to learn the basics and apply in songwriting straight away. Really short, sharp lessons with lots of little practise activities that keep you motivated, got a little bit addicted to it already!
  • Amazing app by an amazing developer!

While the pricing has gone up in the past few months for this app, I believe it is well worth it. Music theory for songwriting is simply not taught like this on any other app, making this invaluable. The creator of the app is just one guy, yet he considers ALL customer feedback. For those who can’t afford to purchase the full app, a subscription for a month or two should be enough to get you through all the lessons and get some practice in.

If you’ve been wanting to write your own songs but didn’t have a strong music theory foundation before, this app makes everything simple and practical. I love it!

  • Great learning tool

I studied music theory in college and I’ve gained more from this app in a few days than a few semesters in class. There are just a few updates I would love to see to make the app more enjoyable to use. Examples are a erase button for the quizzes. It’s very frustrating attempting to correct mistakes. It would also be nice to have access to the segment rules once the timer runs out. When you need a refresher, you have to completely exit the quiz to review the short paragraph from the lesson. Other than that, I highly recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn music theory in an organized fashion.
