  • Amazing app and worth every penny!

It’s obvious a lot of time, love and energy has gone into this app. It’s very well thought out, easy to follow and keeps you coming back for more. The developer is super friendly and answers any questions you have. It’s clear he has a real passion for what he does and genuinely wants to help out. Awesome work all round 👍

  • Easy and fun

I’ve always felt like I had a mental block for learning theory. This app is just amazing. Feel like in a while this block will totally melt. Thanks for creating this
  • Excellent

Everything I needed as a mature student. All the foundation work that now makes sense. Being able to repeat any lesson which varies the questions each time ensures you are not just memorising the question base and forces you to apply the knowledge. This makes my real life lessons so much easier.
  • I thought I paid for the app

But it was only for one of the courses. The app is good but don’t expect to learn much unless you’ve never played an instrument before. With the melody course you will basically learn where to put the sharps and flats on a staff according to the key. Not worth the price in my opinion.

Hey AcidBasically, thanks for your comments. By purchasing Waay, you get the full Melodies course which includes eight video lessons and nine interactive exercises that regenerate with every try (so you never have to repeat the same exercise twice!). You’re right that it’s geared towards beginners, but that being said, the first course covers quite a bit: notes, steps, intervals, keys, building scales, songwriting, circle of fifths, and we discuss writing melodies too. I’m sorry it wasn’t a good fit for you and that it came as a surprise that other courses were an added cost. I try to make that clear in the App Store description, but I understand it would have been annoying if you weren’t expecting it—and I’ll give this some thought going ahead. In any case, feel free to check out the App Store description for more information about the Chords course, and you can see if that might be a better fit for your musical background. Feel free to get in touch anytime at alex[at]tenkettles[dot]com if you have any questions about Waay—happy to help! -Alex
  • Great app with excellent quiz’s

Not only are the concepts explained clearly but they’re reinforced regularly with great quiz questions. Nice work.
  • Fabulous

Hands down, best app for learning music theory. Has helped me take my guitar playing to a new level.
  • Great App!

This app is great for learning music theory in a fun way. It teaches you the theory in a a simple and easy to understand way too. This may not be fair but I want to give a four star to encourage the app developers to add a feature that I thing would complete the app; That is to have the notes on a virtual piano. Because why forgo the opportunity to both learn theory and solidify our knowledge of where all the notes lie on the piano?
Great job developer guys and gals?

    Developer Response

Hi Ali, glad to hear you're enjoying Waay! Thanks for the feedback. That's an interesting idea to enter exercise answers on a virtual piano, though right now the app is geared towards *any* instrument and I think it's important to reach people "where they live." For example, if a guitar player is learning music theory with Waay, I want them to feel equally at home. :) That said, there could be an interesting way to approach this which ticks off all boxes, so I've made a note of your feedback for future versions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any future questions/comments at alex[at]tenkettles[dot]com. -Alex P.S. We offer a free virtual instrument on our website too, if you're interested in using it alongside Waay (or anything else). You can find it at http://www.tenkettles.com/noteboard/.
  • Great App

As someone who has tried to learn music theory but gave up due to confusion this app really broke it down for me, especially with the scales. Really appreciate the care put into this. Already bought the chords lesson! Thanks!
  • really great app...well...

...up until the sharps part after circle of fifths. went right over my head. no way to dig myself out to make any sense of it or pace it out either. i know this is my ignorance talking, but as a beginner, it feels like i just learned how to add and subtract, and now im being thrown algebra. i keep staring at it and i still do not understand what the hell ive just been told.

  • I think I can do this!

Thanks for making this app. I’ve wanted to learn theory for a long time. This is making it fun. ❤️
