Why would anyone get the subscription?

Another useless subscription option. Honestly, the baseline version of the app works pretty well and is useful for what it is.
However the idea to unlock these minuscule features with a monthly paid subscription is ludicrous.
I’d gladly pay a one-and-done 99¢ fee for a “pro” version, but you’re nuts if you think making a paid subscription is worth $40-$60.

Great, but sync issues

It’s a little glitchy syncing between all my devices. This isn’t super important in practice as I tend to be on a specific device while on a specific task but I do need my watch to be in sync with whatever device I’m on at the very least. There is definitely a lag sometimes which is hyper noticeable since this timekeeping methodology is all about intervals.

Missing things

This app is simple and clean which is great however, syncing across the Apple Watch is slow and doesn’t work sometimes. It’s missing a feature to quickly switch/swipe between tasks like many free apps and I wish it had more functionality/tracking for long term study/projects.

Otherwise it works great and if it had the extra features it would be worth the 50$.

Pain Relief

With our current work-from-home orders, I was finding that using my laptop for longer periods was giving me a pain in the neck. Focus has provided relief. The frequent breaks give me a chance to stand up, do some neck exercises, and generally be more focused and productive in the process. Give it a try – I think you’ll like it.

Buggy

This has pretty much everything I’m looking for, from a podomoro app. The only problem is it consistently fails to do what are frankly quite basic functions. Regularly, my Apple watch’s stats will completely differ from that on my phone. Notifications about the end of a task sometimes won’t come or will arrive at different times on different devices. Most frustratingly of all, it happens far too often that I will start a session and then return to it in a few minutes and find the timer has reset and hasn’t been recording anything.

As another reviewer mentioned, it’s incredibly frustrating to have to pay for a subscription now of quite a basic service but I would do it if it performed those basic functions adequately. I wish it did, but for me it doesn’t and I’m looking again for an alternative.

Response from developer

Hi, I just want to let you know that Focus got a complete overhaul! We've modernised the entire app, and shipped a new version of the Apple Watch app and iCloud sync. Let me know if you'd like to give Focus another try! --> support@meaningful-things.com Best wishes,  - Kerstin

Too pricey for what it is

Too pricey for what it is... just an organized timer.

Unusable unless you subscribe

Zero functionality for free version “read only”

Ridiculous

I bought it only for the start stop timer widget but I must admit its a ridiculous price for such a basic app. Its just a timer and no one would use the task list in this app.

Update on my review on 2020

One of the 2 reliable pomodor app which also have a functional apple watch complication so i feel the price is justified. Using daily

It lost its charm

I’ve searched and searched for the best time tracking app and I though I had found it. I even bought the one year subscription. But after the update the app complete bombs.
1- the Apple Watch app doesn’t work anymore it doesn’t pair with the phone app.
2- all other time tracking apps have the option to keep the display on, this one doesn’t work. You have to toggle it on and off for it to work every time you change apps.
I tried to get a refund but of course it was denied. So instead I leave this review as a warning to anyone that is considering purchasing the subscription.

‘Prevent Display Sleep’ not working

Unfortunately, the ‘Prevent Display Sleep’ option is not working. I’ve tried re-toggling the option, but to no avail. My device always dims and then goes to sleep, even while I’m focus mode.

Otherwise, this app works perfectly.

Specs: iPhone X, iOS 13.3.1, Low power mode is NOT enabled (not sure if this mattered).
