Speech recognition needs improvement
I like Mondly and think the new update has been a really great improvement on what is a very interactive way to learn a language. I particularly enjoy the challenge of daily lessons, but there are two things I really dislike about the app:
1. It’s so demoralising to get a 300 day streak and then miss one day due to illness and loose it completely, it really knocks your enthusiasm.
2. The speech recognition is quite poor, making you repeat words over and over and giving your ridiculous suggestions for what it thinks it’s heard you say. I find this just confuses me as to what the word was that I was supposed to be learning in the first place. (I use a different AI speech recognition language learning app alongside Mondly and don’t have any issue with it understanding my pronunciation)Show lessMuddyblackcat22

As for the speech recognition issue, please send us a few examples of the words or phrases that were misunderstood along with the lesson where this occurred at ios@mondly.com. Monday is quite a good general language app that’s engaging and leads you from a beginner to a higher level. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is that some of the European Portuguese is actually Brazilian Portuguese and therefore wrong for those learning European Portuguese.JonnyTeacher

I’ve been using Duolingo the past 4 months and although I have learnt a few words and phrases, this one is actually way better in terms of reviewing words and phrases and learning pronunciation and conversations.Babebravo20
Very good but too much memorising
It is very good but I find it somehow lacking slightly in that it pushes a lot of repetition but it takes extra work to actually learn beyond just memorising. I especially when you use Thai writing there is no explanation. The voice recognition chat is a great idea but it needs feedback of what you are doing wrong (even if that was as simple as the ability to hear back the recording if what you just said do you can compare to the Thai speaker). I suspect there are slightly better apps but it is good and I don’t regret paying.Show lessteqteq
Good practice
Mondly usual multiple native speakers to help you hear the fine details of phrases. There is a lot of vocabulary and the lessons are short enough to keep your attention.BlackHexa
