Poor communication
Does not deliver as promised due to poor tech support. The app is easy to use and navigate but did not offer a resolution to the communication errors with the battery and when I sort assistance to try and sort it, support was virtually nonexistent. Constant requests to support to assist me were met with little or no resolution and not being able to speak to someone was very frustrating. I eventually returned to my previous provider and with telephone support, was very easy to resolve. Wouldn’t recommend!

Fantastic when it works
In theory, this app and business model is fantastic, but the app is absolutely fraught with glitches. The manual control over the inverter frequently fails to respond. This is really annoying as the algorithm will start selling off your battery to the grid when you’re trying to conserve it for the night. I’ve got better things to do than constantly watch the app to monitor what the system is doing to ensure it is not selling off at negative prices. Automated solar curtailment is glitchy - it will sell your power off at negative one cent or sometimes more. It is impossible to contact anyone unless you want to sign up. Email responses are slow and only blame the inverter companies- the inverter companies blame Amber. No one wants to really help. Software updates have mixed results. Amber, please look after your current customers and fix the app. Please add a function to consume and store battery power for longer than just 2 hours.

Not very smart
I have been using this app now for a couple of months. The app does not automatically charge my battery when the solar feed in is low and the rates are low. I have to do this manually and I have to remember to do it at 10 am each morning. I cannot program it on a schedule. I have to set a manual alarm outside of the APP to do it.
It is supposed to be smart. It is supposed to monitor the weather. It is supposed to charge my battery when rates are cheap and export from my battery when rates are high and it does none of these things. Also, the monthly fees for Amber are up around $50. So it negates a lot of the saving that you make.

Good in theory, but poor algorithm for battery
I found that the app needed substantial improvements to optimise my 11 kw solar and 48 kw battery setup. It overestimated solar production (always), poorly estimated my household demand, leading to poor decisions. It would run out of battery at night, when it could have topped up with extremely cheap power in the daytime. If the algorithm could be improved, I’d possibly switch back to Amber.

Non functional no service
App doesn’t work properly. Cant connect to internet despite everything else in system connecting and working just fine. No customer support. Says 10 days grace period but cannot opt out even after only 5 days of dysfunction. Poor at best.
