Amtrak is way overpriced. They’ve gotten greedy. Their round trip fares are more expensive and less classy than flying. $500-600 for coach round trip between DC and NYC is ridiculous. JUST FLY. It’s faster, more luxurious, and the ride is nicer. I’ve spent $20K this year alone on American and wanted to diversify my travel a bit for convenience, but my flights on American Airlines are always upgraded for free to first class and round trip is only $269… not $250-350 ONE WAY ON AMTRAK. So Greedy!!!!

I have been using Amtrak about 2 months now for round trips from Bakersfield to San Diego .
First of all this trip requires a chartered bus from Bakersfield into Los Angeles. The bus was prompt , clean and comfortable. The only thing to improve the trip would be friendlier drivers. They are not rude at all, just not friendly.
After the bus arrives at the LA station and you’ve retrieved your bags it’s a short walk to the hub of the station where you will find clean restrooms and several food choices. You will also find the “red caps” are waiting to assist you with your luggage and provide a speedy ride in their carts delivering you to the door of your waiting train.
Gratuity is always appreciated but not asked for. When you see the long uphill tunnel you will appreciate the free ride.
The train itself is well kept and very comfortable but hard for this old lady to go up and down the narrow stairs. My next trip I will request assistance and hopefully be on the lower level.
There is a limited snack bar for food purchases in case you want a nibble.
It is a relaxing way to travel especially when you get glimpses of the freeways.
I travel alone and have always felt safe.

So far in September there have been slight delays, but nothing compared to the summer. No cancellations so far & the San Joaquin gets me to Oakland where its happening

This app is useless because you can’t even buy tickets. And then I go to the website and the prices get higher. Make it make sense.

The service, train ride and personnel are excellent. The issue I’m having is trying to add my account number to my reservation in the app. The app will not take the information.

I really like the Amtrak app because it’s easy to understand and use. However, I’m getting frustrated because I’m not able to get a discount for my deaf disability when purchasing tickets. I even called Amtrak, but the automated system wouldn’t let me speak with a customer service representative.

What’s the point?
No track number listed on app
How are we supposed to know what track number it is if we’re late this is important information that needs to be listed on the app in reservations !!!!!
Not iPad Friendly
While technically, this app works OK, it is not good on an iPad because it will not work in the horizontal position. Would be much better if you could use this on an iPad horizontally.
All of their digital solutions are bad
