is not for someone who actually has a dissociative disorder

this probly is a nice app for peeps who suffer OCCASIONAL dissociation. as someone with a CDD, we found it to make things worse when using the ground us feature bcuz it only offered the 54321 method just enraged us. that method does not work for all neurotypes! also when we first logged in, we had to answer questions about dissociation levels. we answered honestly and it said we likely have some dissociation present. our lived experience is near constant dissociation so doesn’t seem too reliable. Response from developer

We’re sorry to hear Ground Me wasn’t the right fit for your needs. Ground Me is currently designed as a self-help support tool for mild to moderate dissociation, not as a replacement for clinical support for complex or near-constant dissociative conditions. We agree that 5-4-3-2-1 is not the right fit for everyone, especially across different neurotypes and dissociative experiences. We’re already working on a wider range of grounding options for Ground Me Now, and if you’re open to sharing which approaches have worked better for you, we’d genuinely value that feedback. Regarding the dissociation questions, Ground Me uses a structured, research-based self-assessment, so we need to be careful not to present results as a diagnosis or overstate what the score can mean. We understand the wording may have felt too soft for your lived experience, and we’ll look at how we explain the result more clearly around the assessment. Thank you for sharing your experience.
