Therapy

The grow up is user friendly and easy to follow. I like the coach tool for in between sessions. It has workbooks to help process trauma. Chase is my therapist and I actually look forward to our appts. 10/10 great app

Great

Best thing I could’ve done for myself.

They kill people

Whatever you do do not trust your mental health to this company. They are completely unethical and they will destroy your life. You deserve better than this. Do not reach out to this company for help. There are other places that can help at this company will only harm you.

Lack of financial transparency

My one complaint (but honestly, is quite a big factor) is the lack of financial transparency. I understand it takes a while for insurance claims to be processed and charges to be filed, but it is entirely misleading to write in your billing page $0 charges. Because a month later, this $0 changed to the charge amount. I researched online after this happened to me, and it apparently is common for people to have unexpected charges from this platform. If Grow Therapy wants to prevent things like this happening and for users to have a good experience, this should not be displayed as $0 but instead as $— with a message explaining that insurance is being processed and this typically takes 30-45 business days. That $0 (and what my provider told me) misled me to believe my insurance covered everything, so imagine my shock when I see bills amounting to almost $500 of the past month roll in. Unbelievable. I am currently waiting on customer support as this is being escalated, so will report again to see how they handle this situation. Not coming back. I have had way better experiences with different providers. Extremely frustrating to have built a relationship with a therapist for it to be cut short.

Exceptional and down to earth

Finding someone that I can relate to and understand my perspective and helps me to do the work needed to get myself mentally ready is hard and I think I found that in Brian.

Tried twice - no shows

Tried two different therapists, both didn’t show up to the scheduled appointments.

Definitely Recommend

Met with Lem today. Professional, kind, and insightful.

App is annoying

App is incredibly clunky. The first page is a stupid AI chatbot (dont need AI knowing all of my health problems). It’s incredibly difficult to navigate the app, to the point I cant even give feedback about the app because I can’t find where it is. Nothing is in a place that makes sense. I’ve never made an app in my life, and have only coded for a year or so and I can make a way better app than this. Seriously, come on.

Garbage AI

So tired of AI being necessary when it’s buggy and never works well. The app constantly crashes.

The Best

My therapist is truly attentive to me and my needs. She is honest, trustworthy, kind-hearted, encouraging, and compassionate. She makes me feel genuinely heard and valued. She provides meaningful assignments tailored to our session topics, which have been incredibly important for my growth. Grow Therapy is absolutely worth trying.

App doesn’t work

Every single time I try to book it gives me an error message and now the people in the chat can’t even help me and this is the only therapy app my insurance covers.
This was the worst experience ever

Provider No Show

Sadly, I was excited to speak with a counselor and they didn’t attend the scheduled session.

Deceptive Advertising

I used this platform under the pretense that $150 was the standard price for most therapist. What they don’t tell you is they bill you for $300 and charge you $150! The advertised amount is not what will be billed to insurance. Had I known I would have to cover the entire cost I would’ve NEVER went with this succubus “therapy” platform . Better off going with someone independent. DO NOT USE THEM. No transparency and tbh idk how they haven’t been sued for this
UPDATE** “I already went through your official support channels about this exact issue and was told there was nothing that could be done per your policy. This response is not new information it’s the same runaround. If you’re serious about addressing this, look up my prior support ticket instead of asking me to start over.”

Amazing!

The session insights have been so helpful and meaningful to me. In the past I feel like I talked a lot in therapy without really feeling any progress being made. I have finally found an amazing therapist that listens, challenges me and helps me to see the progress when I can’t see it myself. This is one decision I have no regrets about.

Some therapist reschedule or are constantly late to meetings

Extremely disappointing

I signed up with Grow seeking psychiatric support, with medication management being my primary reason for scheduling. I selected a provider and completed a lengthy intake form, only to find out afterward that the provider was licensed in a state where she could not prescribe. This was important information that should have been made clear before I spent time completing the intake.

To make matters worse, I was later notified that my intake form was lost due to a technical issue with the Grow app. I was provided with a blank PDF and told to either: (1) print each page, complete it by hand, and send photos, or (2) edit it using PDF editing software. This was incredibly frustrating, as I do not have a printer or the ability to edit PDFs on my phone. I later learned through an email from Grow that this was a system issue that affected multiple clients over a two-day period.

Because of these issues, I canceled my appointment with more than the required 24 hours’ notice. However, I continued receiving messages as if my appointment was still active. I spent additional time contacting support through the app and by phone just to get confirmation that I would not be charged for a cancellation caused by circumstances outside of my control.

This experience has left me with serious concerns about the reliability, communication, and handling of sensitive patient information within this app. I expected a seamless path to psychiatric care, but instead I spent time completing paperwork, troubleshooting technical failures, and trying to obtain basic support. I will be seeking psychiatric care elsewhere.
