Worst app ever
The app needs work
Required passkeys locked me out
Bugs bugs and more
Also customer service told me it would take three business days for them to change my email address.
Avoid if you can!
Infringement and Control
Sure my complaint might sound small, but where does it end. Health equity isn’t paying for my phone or phone bill. I don’t have any other apps on my phone that require a full device lock- and that includes my banking apps, medical record apps, investing apps, and Authenticator apps. You get the picture. This isn’t an app most people use on the regular. It should not require a device lock.
I have filed a formal complaint directly with the company with my concerns, and if the requirement changes, I will come and update my review on here.

Account & passkey features don’t work on the app.

Worst App
Security Theater at the Expense of Usability
This app is a masterclass in how to make security feel like punishment.
I already use a password manager. I already use unique passwords. I already use multi factor authentication. None of that matters because HealthEquity has decided that every customer should use authentication exactly the way HealthEquity wants.
Mandatory passkeys are not innovation. They are the removal of customer choice.
The best banks and financial institutions let customers decide whether they want a password, a hardware security key, an authenticator app, or a passkey. HealthEquity looked at those options and somehow concluded that forcing everyone into one method was the better customer experience.
The result is exactly what you would expect. A login process that is more frustrating than the healthcare it is supposed to support.
To make matters worse, I still did not receive my HSA debit card after nearly two months. Somehow the company found the time to redesign authentication but not to deliver the basic product customers actually need.
The app feels like it was designed by people who measure success by security checklists instead of customer experience. Every extra step is justified in the name of protection, while the user pays the price in wasted time and unnecessary frustration.
Security should reduce risk without creating friction. This app creates friction first and calls it security.
The greatest threat to my HSA isn’t fraud. It’s having to use this app.
I hate it here
Bugs out every time I try to log in now
Can’t add Authenticator passcode “on this device”
Used to be a good app.
Have you fired all the developers and now only PMs and AI agents do the job?
