Fidelity is WAY better
I have one external account that is intended to fund my automatic loan payments. I’ve spoken with four different representatives, and none have been able to get the automatic payments working. I rolled my accounts over to Fidelity because its app is much more user-friendly and its advisors are more efficient. Unfortunately, I still have to call TIAA every month to make a loan payment and then transfer the funds to Fidelity. This entire process should be automated, but after five months, TIAA still hasn’t been able to resolve the issue. It’s frustrating that such a basic function requires monthly phone calls.

Disappointing if you want detailed information
Useful for general information a day after trades are complete. Not so much for detailed information such as daily price changes, whether amounts or percentages (there is a bit of this information about four clicks into the app). Prices don’t update for several hours after markets close, so it’s best to wait until the next day to find accurate updates. Charts do not work on an iPad if trying to see different time frames. Even statements don’t appear in a timely manner (after email notification they are available). Disappointing.

Mediocre At Best
Relative to Fidelity and Vanguard this app doesn’t come close to matching up. It’s disappointing that TIAA can’t do better. It’s so hard to even get YTD information to compare performance. Why is the majority of the functionality so cumbersome to access? How about plots that I can compare multiple fund performances? Functionality is short on delivery and amateurish.

Great App
This app is very useful. It does exactly what it promises. It updates account balances, and offers a lot of functionality. It’s a great supplement to the website and is much faster and easier to access. Highly recommend.
