My job forced this on me

My employer made a decision to switch from our former company TIAA. The former company used Schwab for the self-directed broker option. The TIAA platform is like playing the original eight bit Nintendo compared to Schwab’s trading platform, tools, education, access… The whole kit and caboodle.

No easy way to know what is the gain/loss

The balance change number involves both your own contribution and the gain/loss because of investment. No easy way to separate them and get a clue of investment performance.

Marketing vs. Information

The TIAA app is frustrating to use because the home screen provides very little useful information about my actual retirement accounts. The most prominent content should be things like account performance, allocation, recent gains and losses, and contribution information. Instead, a large portion of the screen is devoted to promoting additional TIAA services, such as Wealth Management. That makes the app feel more like a marketing channel than a financial management tool.

I should not have to scroll past advertisements for other TIAA services to get basic information about my own money. Please redesign the home screen around the information customers are actually opening the app to see, and move promotional content to a less intrusive location.

Whack-a-mole App

This app (and web site) just never matures beyond a beta version. Just trying to find information is all over the place (if it even works). The tap areas which do nothing is really precious. Find new developers and actually use real customers to refresh this app. Today, I’m getting a “sorry cannot login” error on the iPad but my iPhone works. Nothing changed on my end! 🤷‍♂️

UI kinda sucks

cool app, does what it needs to do but the UI sucks, it doesn’t seem they took too much time creating graphs or anything to really get an in depth look.
