Took just a minute to hang on first use! Clearly not the developer’s favourite child.
Quite weird if you were into technology and you tested your app and let it out into the world and any random first time user of the app sees a snag within a minute of starting to use it. I opened this app to use it as my society wants this to be the new app. Poured my details in, and the app started checking phone settings for sound notification etc and once done just hung! You cannot close the screen by the right top cross and all you can do is force end the app and open again. Pretty clumsy work . Just feels like a morning shows the day moment for me. And believe me i am a technology person too so I know why this isn’t the developers favourite child.

Extremely Intrusive. Everyone please disable your Notifications
Let’s get one thing straight. MyGate is NOT a gate entry/exit or society management app. It’s an extremely intrusive, spammy, noisy, unfriendly, anxiety inducing app which coincidentally ALSO manages gate security.
The creators of this app have succumbed to the very thing most Indian B2C startups succumb to – greed or incompetence. Either it’s a poorly built platform that cannot be maintained at scale without ad revenue, or the founders are just greedy and milking every bit of the UI space for throwing ads.
In any case, I have permanently disabled notifications on MyGate. I wait till the delivery person calls me from the gate and only then I approve. Unfortunately, it’s they who are paying the price by losing time and incentives due to MyGate’s pathetic user experience.
In this new age, societies should rely on internally built apps that don’t need such heavy tech to operate. I strongly encourage society management committees to become self reliant and build their own apps rather than rely on such spam factories.
Apps like MyGate are a reflection of the society in this country. Any empty patch on the roadside today, is an opportunity to stick an “IAS coaching” ad flyer. MyGate is the digital avatar of the outer side of a compound wall on a busy street in Bangalore.

Mygate
Super App that does everything to welcome new comers to the community.
Good luck
It’s very user friendly and convenient for the users of all ages
Ad supported version of mygate is as terrible as they come
If you yearn for the days of dial-up, internet explorer and crazy pop-ups and ads infesting every inch of your screen, there is no better nostalgia trip.
Yes, I know an ad-free premium experience available as the mygate community rep likes to remind in every negative review but unfortunately my community didn’t spring for it and I would like to record my experience of the ad-filled experience. The designer that allowed a slowly scrolling pop-up on the bottom left side of the screen landing exactly on top of the guest/delivery approval button deserves all the plaudits. Thank you for being the worst app I am forced to use everyday, it makes me cherish every other app on my phone.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the ads. Ads are displayed only to societies using the free or basic plan to help keep the service available at no cost. We understand that excessive ads can impact usability and have shared this feedback with our product team for review.
