Took just a minute to hang on first use! Clearly not the developer’s favourite child.
Extremely Intrusive. Everyone please disable your Notifications
The creators of this app have succumbed to the very thing most Indian B2C startups succumb to – greed or incompetence. Either it’s a poorly built platform that cannot be maintained at scale without ad revenue, or the founders are just greedy and milking every bit of the UI space for throwing ads.
In any case, I have permanently disabled notifications on MyGate. I wait till the delivery person calls me from the gate and only then I approve. Unfortunately, it’s they who are paying the price by losing time and incentives due to MyGate’s pathetic user experience.
In this new age, societies should rely on internally built apps that don’t need such heavy tech to operate. I strongly encourage society management committees to become self reliant and build their own apps rather than rely on such spam factories.
Apps like MyGate are a reflection of the society in this country. Any empty patch on the roadside today, is an opportunity to stick an “IAS coaching” ad flyer. MyGate is the digital avatar of the outer side of a compound wall on a busy street in Bangalore.
Mygate
Good luck
Ad supported version of mygate is as terrible as they come
Yes, I know an ad-free premium experience available as the mygate community rep likes to remind in every negative review but unfortunately my community didn’t spring for it and I would like to record my experience of the ad-filled experience. The designer that allowed a slowly scrolling pop-up on the bottom left side of the screen landing exactly on top of the guest/delivery approval button deserves all the plaudits. Thank you for being the worst app I am forced to use everyday, it makes me cherish every other app on my phone.
Response from developer
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the ads. Ads are displayed only to societies using the free or basic plan to help keep the service available at no cost. We understand that excessive ads can impact usability and have shared this feedback with our product team for review.
Advertisement garbage
03/2 - After turning the notification on, the only thing that this apps notifies is about are ads from open market. Garbage!

More of marketing junk and less clarity about what it should be.
Response from developer
We’re sorry to hear this. Ads are shown only for societies on the Free/Basic plan and are not meant to overshadow core gate access features. We want to assure you that data privacy and security are top priorities for us, with strict access controls and compliance standards in place. We’ve noted your feedback and will share it with our team.
Marketplace
Since a few weeks, one cannot see other items listed by an individual upon tapping their name unless they reside in same society.
I suppose you did it out of some frivolous privacy concern, but that is not a smart move. And likely kill your marketplace.
When I see a car listing, by seeing other listing of that person I can figure whether he is professional car dealer who has listed several cars, or genuine individual selling their own car. Similarly, folks who move out of the city tend to list several items. So one can see all the items available for sale by tapping on their name which is otherwise not possible if the person has created those several listing over a period of 3-4 days. Visible listing history is best way to trust a seller; that’s how every used item marketplace works in the world. Please re-enable it.
