Sorry but this App is horrible

Once I log in and pick cabin type, departure & return dates it populates a page showing the departure date time and price and the only option you have it to click "back" icon which of course takes you back to beginning. Really? 🫣

THE ABSOLUTE WORST

Using the Philippine Airlines mobile app was honestly a frustrating experience from start to finish. Instead of making my travel smoother and less stressful, it did the exact opposite. I experienced slow loading times, unreliable performance, and features that didn’t always work as expected. At times, I questioned whether the app would actually complete the task I needed or simply return an error.

What frustrated me the most was that after checking in, I was not provided with a digital boarding pass. As a traveler, I expected to have everything I needed in one place on my phone. Not having a digital boarding pass made me feel unprepared and anxious, especially when I was already trying to manage my travel schedule. It defeated one of the main reasons for using a mobile airline app in the first place—to make the travel experience more convenient and seamless.

I also found the app difficult to navigate, with some functions feeling incomplete or redirecting me to the website instead of allowing me to finish what I started within the app. Rather than giving me confidence before my flight, the app created unnecessary uncertainty and stress. I constantly worried whether my booking, check-in, or travel information had actually gone through correctly.

Overall, my experience left me feeling disappointed. As someone who values efficiency and good customer service, I expected an airline’s official app to simplify the travel process. Instead, it added inconvenience, frustration, and avoidable anxiety during a time when I simply wanted to focus on my journey.

UI from hell

Have not even boarded my flight, but this has got to be one of the worst airline apps I have ever used. Clicking anything prompts a 30 second load time, constantly getting stuck in a loop of checking-in and getting reverted to the same spot. Error messages constantly.

Have my boarding pass in my apple wallet and will hopefully never have to open the app again.

Terrible pp

It is so slow. I wanted to book a flight and it stays in the payment page forever. I'll just book with a different airline.

Never again

I would rather chew my own fingers off than ever fly Philippine Airlines again. It took me nearly 8 hours to be ticketed, I was downgraded to economy even after paying for business class, then they had the audacity to tell me I needed to pay for the lounge visit after they downgraded my ticket (while I was already in the lounge). The employees questioned me at every step from check in to boarding like I was a criminal, and then they charged me additional for my baggage because of the downgrade. Now I’ve got a massive headache, my neck is spasming, and I’m literally shaking mad. I didn’t know customer service could be this awful. The app was also useless

Embarrassing

Wants to reset everyone’s password every 90 days. Against industry standards. What an embarrassment for the Philippines. Proof they have no idea about apps, IT, technology.

A Flag Carrier Deserves a Better App Than This

This flagship airline of the Philippines needs to step up and invest in improving this app.

I recently tried booking a domestic flight for a large family trip, and the experience with this app was incredibly frustrating. As I started entering information for all the passengers, this app began glitching. After finally making it to the seat selection page, this app became completely unresponsive.

I restarted this app and started the booking process all over again. By then, the ticket prices had already increased by thousands of pesos. Unfortunately, this app crashed again. I attempted the booking a third time, only to see the fares increase yet again. The repeated crashes combined with the constant fare increases felt extremely unfair and gave the impression of a very questionable booking experience.

After another failed attempt with this app, I gave up and checked flights through Cebu Pacific instead. While Cebu Pacific’s app certainly has room for improvement, it was far more seamless and, most importantly, functional. In contrast, this app repeatedly failed to complete a basic booking transaction.

This was a very disappointing experience. With Philippine Airlines joining the OneWorld alliance, I would expect a much higher standard from this app. A modern, reliable mobile experience is no longer optional—it’s an essential part of customer service.

Philippine Airlines risks losing customers if it does not address the issues with this app. I genuinely want to support the country’s flag carrier, but experiences like this make it difficult. The airline should prioritize improving the stability, performance, and overall user experience of this app. As it stands today, this app falls well below the standard expected from a premium international airline.

What disappoints me even more is that this experience reinforces the perception that many Filipino-made apps are often subpar compared to their international counterparts. Unfortunately, this app is one example of that. I hope Philippine Airlines takes customer feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements because the airline deserves a much better digital experience than what this app currently provides.

WORST INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT PROVIDER

MISHANDLED BAGGAGE

I want to share what happened to me during my flight on Philippine Airlines (PR 221, Manila to Brisbane) on July 23, 2025.

After a long journey, I finally arrived at Brisbane Airport, went to Carousel 4, and waited for my checked-in luggage… but it never showed up. I searched and waited, hoping it was just delayed. The baggage service staff asked me to check the oversized baggage area — still, nothing. Eventually, I reported it and filled out a claim form. That’s when I realized — my luggage wasn’t even loaded onto the plane.

Before my flight, I dropped off my bag at NAIA Terminal 2, where TSA staff assured me that I could leave my luggage with them and that it would be transferred to Brisbane. I asked multiple people, including:
āœ”ļø A second TSA staff member
āœ”ļø The bus driver from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1
āœ”ļø And a PAL staff member at Terminal 1

— All of them confirmed that I would receive my baggage at my final destination.

Fast forward to Brisbane — I had no clothes, no personal items, and no essentials. Everything was in my checked-in bag. I had to spend my own money to buy necessities: clothes, undergarments, toiletries, and more — because I had nothing on me.

I contacted Philippine Airlines via Facebook, and they admitted my bag was still in Manila and would be loaded the next day, July 24, with a new rush tag. They apologized, advised me to keep my receipts, and to send them for reimbursement, which I did.
Now, I’m posting this not just to share my story but to highlight how important it is for airlines — especially full-service ones like PAL — to handle passengers' baggage responsibly. I missed important appointments. I felt stressed, uncomfortable, and helpless. šŸ˜ž

I’m now asking for reimbursement and compensation, but the process is taking too long. I hope PAL will do the right thing and take accountability.

To those flying internationally — always double-check and document everything. You never know when something like this might happen to you.

I WILL NEVER FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE EVER!!!

You cannot book on this app!

URL data information status problem!

Useless

This app dont have gate /terminal assignments or even provide updates of the flights.

Frustrating

Doesn’t display the total fare after qualifying the round trip segments.

Junk App

I will use this app maybe twice a year or so. Everytime I open this app, it asked me for a damn code but it takes like 10 business days to receive the said code. Useless.

App crash

Your PAL app is always crashing when I try to open the app. The website works but the app doesn’t stay open long enough and just shuts down

They Screw Over Their Fellow Filipino, They’ll Screw You Over Anyone

Don’t fly with them, find every other major platform to fly with, it’s worth the extra money. They go above and beyond about name matches on tickets but make it abhorrently awful to attempt to make a name change. They require more for their flights than actual immigration does, which is asinine. (Called the DC Embassy and emailed Immigration in Manila to confirm.)
They do not match their policies set with platforms like PriceLine, they stated I needed to start my claim with them my booking service but the booking service has guidance that they can’t change names because of the guidance that PALs team doesn’t even know.
They should be insolvent with how garbage they are, months to issue refunds to family, excessive international requirements. I would rather take my chances doing AMC flights and fly into Clark than this.
If you read this and make things right, I’ll reconsider calling you scabs and betraying your fellow Filipinos for an over inflated currency because you refuse to do the right thing like your government.

Hi, NateTheFreight. We acknowledge your concerns and understand your frustration. Please note that the name on the ticket must match the passenger’s travel document as part of strict airline and immigration requirements. This is a standard policy followed for all flights to ensure smooth check in and travel clearance. For this reason, passengers are advised to carefully review all details before completing a booking. We also recommend booking directly with us so we can better assist you with any changes or concerns compared to third party bookings. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your feedback.

Bugs Bugs Bugs

Terribly made. Fire your developers. Personal info: State: Florida - only gas Tallahassee as a city option. Zero other cities. Filling in Document info - expiration date of Known Traveler info: you can’t type in the numbers. It adds letters LOL!!! After filling in the page ā€œSave and Add Contact Infoā€ button is grayed out!!! Can’t proceed to buy a plane ticket. Unbelievable how incompetent you all are.

Terrible App

Not helpful. Couldn’t add my trip. Doesn’t even allow me to edit my details.

Non-functioning. Need to redo the whole app

This app has the worst functionality I’ve ever seen. Can’t look up flights, get a screen that says access denied. What’s even the purpose of this if you can’t look at flights let alone book a flight. Haven’t even gotten to those issues yet. I seen a review 3 years ago up to recent with the same issues. Don’t bother responding because your company has no follow through on actually fixing an issue. You guys are bleeding money. Your execs has zero money making thought processes and applicability to adapt to modern age. Most of the world uses their smart phone and apps and you guys can’t even keep up with that.
