Better accountability

I’ve used and paid for several of these kinds of apps before. Usually they’d work great at first and then I’d start to get lax and find workarounds. What I love about this one is that I cannot use my blocked apps at work even if I wanted to because my cats are simply not around! When I’m out with friends it also makes me more present for the same reason. I really enjoy that it’s a foolproof concept to really help you reach your screentime goals. What I’d love to see is a time limit on blocked apps, e.g. you can only unlock a max of 3 times or something like that to help us stick to goals even on days where we are around our cats all day. Also, currently the ‘add catkey’ feature is not working for me FYI

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your review! Our cats agree, it’s the best way to put a good barrier between you and your phone. And they like your idea for time limits! We’ll code that up in a future update. We just fixed the Add CatKey feature with the most recent update! Our CatCoders were taking a CatNap for the holidays. Thanks again! If you have any other suggestions, please email us and we’ll see what we can make happen.

Genuine help!

this app feels like the equivalent to those alarms that make you get up and chase it down to wake up, in the best way possible

Response from developer

High praise - email us if you have any ideas to make it better!

Amazing concept

I would use this app a lot more if it had a feature where you could schedule times for apps to be blocked, but even so, I LOVE it.

Response from developer

Our cat coders are hard at work - schedules are coming soon!

best screen time app!!

love this app since it makes me spend time with my cat, most features you can use without membership. definitely recommend

Response from developer

That’s our goal! Less screens, more cats.

FAQ

How does CatNap work to control screen time?

CatNap requires you to take a photo of your registered pet before accessing blocked apps. This 'Cat Tax' aims to break the habit loop by introducing a physical action and a delay, helping you reconsider using distracting applications.

Can I use CatNap with my dog?

Yes, CatNap supports both cats and dogs. The app uses image recognition and the 'CatKey' feature works for any pet you register, not just cats. This allows dog owners to benefit from the app's features as well.

What are the different CatNap modes?

CatNap offers three modes: 'Loop' for incremental screen time, 'Focus' for session-based blocking, and 'Contract' which involves friends as witnesses for accountability. 'Contract' mode notifies your contacts if you use an Emergency Skip.

Does CatNap have ads?

Yes, CatNap contains advertisements. As a free app with in-app purchases, advertisements are displayed to support its continued development and availability.

What are the subscription options for CatNap?

CatNap offers several premium subscription plans, including weekly ($2.99/P7D with a 3-day free trial), monthly ($9.99/P1M), and annual options ($39.99/P1Y with a 7-day free trial). There is also an annual coupon plan for $24.99/P1Y.

How accurate is the pet recognition in CatNap?

The app uses image recognition technology to verify that you have scanned your registered pet. The developers state that you can't fool their cat recognition, implying a high degree of accuracy for the enrolled pets.

What is the 'Cat Tax Evasion' in CatNap?

Cat Tax Evasion refers to bypassing the app's blocking mechanism, typically through an 'Emergency Skip'. If you evade the Cat Tax, the app can notify your designated friends or 'cats on the block' to maintain accountability.

Is CatNap suitable for children?

CatNap has an age rating of 4+. While it's designed for adults struggling with screen time, parents may find it useful for modeling better digital habits for younger users, though direct child use should be supervised.
