Lifetime membership

Thank you for introducing a lifetime membership! I initially got Shapa as part of the Vitality program and I enjoy the product but renewing has been expensive and a hassle. Lifetime membership has made a lifetime user out of me.

Limited options

Many of the people who are drawn to a device like this have a history of disordered eating. Because of the audience, I am confused about some of the app developer choices. The language about the colors and weight loss in general is NOT neutral. It is somewhat emotional with congratulatory messages as well as sort of a chastising tone if there is a day of weight gain. There is no way to turn this off as far as I can tell. A far more helpful app and device would just give me the color without any additional commentary (or at least the ability to disable the quotes and “encouragement”). I am neutral about weight. I don’t need software to have feelings about it that I do not.

Great concept

Terrible support and hardware. The scale constantly needs to be calibrated and bugs out leaving you with a paid membership you can’t use. Had a total of 4 scales now, same result of the scale being inoperable. Customer service to correct the situation is a joke.

Moralizing BS

I love the idea of this scale. But the kids of people who are drawn to this are also the same kind of people who are unlikely to respond well to a frowny face based on the number of times they weigh in per week. I don’t need or want motivation. I just want a simple numberless scale that lets me know if I am on the right track. I don’t need sad faces or moralistic language. But there does not seem to be a way to turn any of this off, and you have to use the app to see the colors. 🤷‍♀️

iPhone issues

No complaints until I got the iPhone 17 in October. After that, I haven’t been able to connect to the scale. Customer service seemed to be helpful initially, but then told me that I would either need to use another way to connect (inconvenient), get a new scale (why would I spend the money when my current one was barely a year old and their support wasn’t supporting), or download IOS Beta (still didn’t resolve issue). Can’t recommend at this time.

Awesome scale and great way to lose weight.on a rating of 1 to 10 I give The Shapa scale s 10.

What a great scale and motivational words of wisdom that follow with a video of someone making me to want to keep going and setting things for me to do and all of this is helping to focus on losing weight and getting myself healthy in the process. 10 Kudos to the inventor of SHAPA.

Wouldn’t recommend: they don’t keep it up to date

I first got this scale a little over a year ago, and it was amazing at first. Unfortunately, they don't keep it up to date. It's not compatible with the newest iPhones, and so they told me that I needed to just get another device to use it with. I'm using an old iPad, which it also doesn't work with, and they gave me the advice to try to turn it off and turn it on again. Really disappointed with the level of technical support and follow-through. Great idea. Wish they kept up with the technical side of things.

Great, especially when features work

The app has been really a wonderful tool in my weight loss journey. In the last several months it seems like more features are having issues. I can’t track period weight gain, the results rarely load on their own anymore (I have to just eventually hit the “back” button to get my daily color), and recently it has stopped talking to my Health app (which was part of the appeal in getting this in the first place, being able to track health data in more detail). Because the daily results don’t regularly load on their own anymore I don’t get to see the little rewarding animations of my Shapa Age going down, celebratory milestones, or my hiker climbing the mountain towards my goal.

TLDR: it’s been a helpful tool in tracking towards my goals and creating a daily habit of recording, but the rewarding feel is lessened by less features working as intended.

I’m on my husbands plan and I renewed and it keeps going back to renewal every time I use my app

Fine if you update me like my husband did

Broken

You broke connectivity with pretty much every app yours feeds with the last update and I just don’t have the energy to ask you to fix it yet again

Useless

Apparently they have changed the way things work since we first got this scale. Initially, we could continue to use the scale after our subscription ended… but now you can’t even use it as a normal scale without an active subscription.

Stupid permission pop-up

Every time I open the app and step on the scale, it's asking permission for heart data. It's a freaking scale.

Very, very buggy for an app that does so few functions

So many bugs that just never get addressed …

Extremely often, it will hang for several minutes when “uploading” results to the server or “calculating” variances (in quotes because neither of these operations should take more than a few seconds, definitely not 5+ minutes). And if it then cancels, it says to check the “battery life” - while telling you that you likely have over 60% battery life. Seems the issue is really more likely that there’s not a good connection with your feet and the scale and slightly moistening the metal strips will solve the issue - but it keeps bleating about battery life when the app itself should be able up see that’s false.

Then, if you miss a day and it offers you a chance to make it up, tapping on the alert sends you to a completely different part of the app and you lose that chance. It’s 2024, folks; alert handling should be a basic feature.

And now, I was sick - so yesterday, I told it, “I’m sick.” Easy enough, and is supposed to pause things. So today, I get one of those useless “Protect your streak!” alerts - which shouldn’t even appear because, you know, I’m sick - and I already told the app I’m sick. And again, I tap that alert and … it takes me to the last page I visited in the app (the “I’m sick” page). I turn off “sick,” so the app … asks if I’m traveling.

So now I have to lie and pretend I was traveling, AFTER I already told it I was sick, maybe because it hasn’t been 24 hours? (Food poisoning.) Yes, yesterday, I told it I was sick later in the afternoon because that’s when I was starting to do things, and this time, I logged in around noon because I’m feeling better - which SHOULD NOT MATTER AT ALL. News flash: days start at midnight local time & end at 11:59:59pm local time. So after correctly and legitimately letting the app know I was sick, and then legitimately coming back, and legitimately coming back through the “Protect your streak” alert, it (a) sent me to the wrong page, (b) ignored my declaration that I was sick (does that even do anything, or did you put it there as a special form of torture for your users?), and (c) made me lie to it to do what I tried to do legitimately.

All these are issues that should have long been dealt with, but many have persisted for *years*. So while it’s a nice overall setup, it’s no better than some others, and demonstrably worse than ones that actively address bugs.

Annoying bug

Every time I open the app it asks to authorize Apple Health access.

Renewal process

I renewed my subscription but all my family members still don’t have access. This has been since May. It is difficult to correct this

Wish I could get feedback

I started out loving you and motivated My love and motivation is sadly and rapidly waning

So buggy

This app feels like a beta yet I’ve had it for over two years. So janky and unpolished

I love my Shapa!

It’s helped me in amazing ways! I am excited to step on my Scale...it communicates in ways that help me feel more confident. I feel like I’m apart of a team instead of doing it all alone. So much easier this way Thanks Shapa, Letha L.

Great idea. Terrible customer service.

I really loved the idea of a numberless scale. Unfortunately mine is glitchy and customer service is terrible. I don’t think they even read the issue before responding. Super disappointing. I’d recommend finding an alternative!

Amazing app

The best app in the market for weight management
