App needs work
Velia
Leaving bad reviews gets you help
The tap to connect is lame. Data is fine. I’m still wearing my Oura ring and they are pretty consistent. I like the aesthetics of the ring, but the battery life needs some help. I’ll keep trying but I’ll also probably buy the next gen of Oura. I want to love this ring after waiting so long to receive it… like the other reviewers, it’s… fine. Had I not been an Oura user from Gen 2 on, I’d think this ring was much cooler.
Original review- After waiting years for our rings, they arrived but we can’t set them up due to issues with the app. I contacted support 5 days ago and have not received a response.
Can’t create account. Support hasn’t responded to email
Updates really helping
Not good yet, new update not an improvement
First review: Earlier reviews are very negative, I was worried that I'd have the same experience but it's working for me. A few glitches here and there but I didn't mind reclicking and now with the tapping it seems to sync well. I wish there was an app guide, I don't always understand what I'm looking at. Also wish I could adjust the sleep start - invariably it has me sleeping before I actually fall asleep, even if I get up briefly. It takes me a while to fall asleep, and I often read in bed.
Still waiting
Been trying to update the app for the last week and to gets stuck at 19% download every single time, even if I wait for 10+ minutes.
As I see more and more ads on oura rings, really hoping they get their act together to be able to compete.
Redesigned app experience?
Blood pressure
I waited 2 years and it doesn’t do the thing I bought the ring for. I feel a bit cheated
Update
I am even more disappointed that the ring can only stay charged for about 4 hours
The double tap rarely connects to the app
And no updates for firmware or app has been forthcoming
I am enormously disappointed in what I have received. I was so excited to back this project. And the two year delay was hard but I expected that was to make sure it worked. Well color me a Moron
Ring Keeps Dying
Won’t record data anymore
I would love to have a way to 1. Do a hard sync without the double tap — which I used to be able to do from the app before the double tap feature update and 2. Have a way to be able to diagnose if there is an issue with the ring itself. With everything so app dependent there doesn’t really seem to be any way to know where in the line of data collection that something is going wrong.
To be clear, I have done all the resets I can think of- deleting and reloading the app, resyncing the ring, making sure all updates have been done, making sure the ring is 100% charged. Nothing fixes it.
Would give 0 stars if an option
No longer displays data
Nothing short of fraud
Each app revision seems worse
Logging out
App unusable
Improving but has a way to go.
Update: The Velia team has been working on improving the app. It now syncs everyone’s need it to, even though it’s a manual process. It takes a lot of time to connect and then more time to sync, but it’s getting better.
Tl;dr - with the current issues, I find the app nearly unsuable. 2 stars because it isn’t fake, but it’s not good.
Sync Issues - My Velia has only successfully synced a handful of times. The team has added a “tap twice” feature to the ring to get it to sync to save battery life on the ring. Since doing so, my ring has only synced data twice. It usually times out before syncing.
Constant disconnects - my ring disconnects from the app constantly. 3 times in a week I’ve had to reconnect it to the app by putting it on the charger. This contributes to the syncing issues I’m sure.
App has to be open to do anything - I’d expect a background sync, but that won’t work. Firmware updates require the app to stay open and phone close to the ring. Syncing requires the same.
The UI is pretty. Basic is fine, I like the design over a lot of competitors.
I can’t see trends because it blocks the ability to do so until it has two months of data.
Overall, the app feels buggy and unfinished, not just unpolished. I’m hopeful Velia will improve. But at the rate it took to simply get the ring to market, I’m worried they won’t have the cash to get over hurdles before they burn out. I honestly hope they are successful and can make meaningful improvements. I’ll update my review as and if I see them.
Not there yet.
Finally I want to be able to update firmware from the unreliable App! If it worked well, with its form factor and if the nice looking app was reliable this would be a great piece of kit. Oh and longer battery life. I’m worried they will take all the feedback and alter the ring and charger and us loyal since kickstarter will be left with an unreliable bit of plastic.
As an update it’s 2300 hrs here on Saturday and I’ve just looked at the app which wiped all me readings is now showing readings for today, steps still off by a mile but somehow it’s completely recorded by some juju all of Sundays (tomorrows) readings…. How it’s not tomorrow yet lol.
Just as an afterthought I don’t think Apple will approve Velia on the health app. The answer is simple. Apple are not making a ring of their own because it would put the two wearables at odds,
The ring and watch!!
They won’t release a ring because it will eat into their watch sales and for the same reason they won’t allow Velia connectivity to the Health App!!!
