About Virginia's Mileage Choice Program The Mileage Choice Program is a voluntary government-run program offering drivers of eligible vehicles an alternative way to pay highway use fees. Pay per mile driven instead of a flat annual fee at registration renewal. Drive less, pay less. The device measures your driving distance, and the app provides a private, personal interface to view your trips, mileage, and driving scores. Your Privacy is Protected: Your driving scores and trip locations are completely private. They are not shared with third parties, not shared with government agencies, and do not impact your mileage payment. This data is for your eyes only. Use the app as a personal safety tool to understand your driving patterns, or simply use it to submit your annual odometer reading—the choice is yours.
