Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Interval Timer at 4.5 against TempoReps's 4.0. Interval Timer also leads on ratings volume (19K vs 4) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). TempoReps's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 9 days). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and TempoReps sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Interval Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 19K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 73% of Interval Timer's written reviews are positive against 67% of TempoReps's.
Interval Timer ships an update every 9 days, TempoReps every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
