  • Invaluable, a MUST for learning 日本語- learning Japanese :)

This app is fabulous, and I have used it for years. I began using it during my college classes in Japanese (after learning of the app via the Shirabe Jisho website), and it continues to be part of the backbone of my self study now. The app is free, which almost feels criminal with how positively amazing it is.

    Features
-Flashcards, Word lists (make your own or premade), favorites
-Word lists by JLPT category, word lists by part of speech
-kanji lists by JLPT, by Japanese grade level, by stroke #
-ability to search by radical (very helpful)
    -ability to hear pronunciation
-both a word and a name dictionary
-examples for most words; words that lack examples tend to be uncommon
-information on use of words and their commonness/dialect if applicable
    -conjugations of verbs are given
-furigana above kanji, on dictionary entries for kanji applicable compounds are also listed

    Cons
-can be redundant to navigate at times, but this matters very little to me

Overall, this app is a 5/5. Fantastic, free dictionary and you will NOT find a better Japanese learning tool on the App Store.

  • Simply amazing

This is my favorite app on my phone, not only does it has all the words, it also has specialized categories such as dialects, pronouns, and lots more. I also love the feature that lets you draw a kanji on your screen, it helps a lot when you find something that you don't know the phonetics for. All in all a must-have for anyone endeavoring to learn Japanese.

  • Best Dictionary to assist in your Japanese learning journey

I really love this app and it’s been so helpful whenever I’ve needed to look up certain words. And sometimes if you may not know the On’yomi or Kun’yomi reading of a Kanji character, you can even draw it to search it up. It also has features where you can create flash cards and bookmark or save words to add to your vocab list in your folders. And lists all the conjugations a word has and example sentences to give a fuller in depth surmise of whatever word your looking for. It’s just as great as the online Jisho and a great equivalent for the iPhone! I highly recommend.

  • Amazing

This app is absolutely amazing. Firstly, for anyone learning Japanese, this is absolutely amazing with helping to remember kanji and kana. This app also gives examples of how words can be used. This is truly a life saver for someone who is in Japan and has a hard time remembering when actually having to talk to someone 😂

  • Brilliant. How is this free!?

An amazingly useful resource for anyone learning Japanese, regardless of skill level. Even if you’re not actively learning the language, this app will easily allow you to quickly look up words and phrases from TV shows and films, if that’s your thing. Either way, you learn a ton just from browsing around the app. I honestly can’t believe this is free, I would happily pay money for it.

  • Incredible!

I don’t usually write reviews, and I stumbled across this app by accident, but it’s actually staggering just how much it has packed into it, and it’s completely free!

The ability to write kana and kanji makes deciphering new words a breeze. The breakdown of words by categories makes it super easy to find words you’re looking for, and even having lists by dialect is an incredibly interesting way to learn how things are said differently in different mediums or places.

This has become and incredible aid whilst learning Japanese.

  • すごい!

This App is amazing. I have been using it for a long time and it has always been reliable but I never realised the full range of features until today. I know I'll be using it more as my study continues. I only wish it had pitch accent information.
  • A treasure

    A great discovery!
  • Incredible

I’ve recently come to need to learn Japanese, obviously that’s daunting and I was scared it would take millions of years but I started using the genki textbook and this app to review kanji when I got to that part of the book and it’s just amazing. The spaced repetition is fantastic and the stroke order inclusion is super great. The app is easy to use and well designed. Couldn’t recommend this enough to people learning Japanese.

  • BEST STUDY TOOL EVER

While studying Japanese, this app not only provides examples for better understanding of certain words, but allows you to study with flash cards within the app.

There are plenty of features in the app that are super helpful, like the flash cards, the example sentences, folders that allow you to organise words you learn, a note taking section for words, the list goes on.

Have recommended this app to mates and family, heck, even my teachers and they’re recommending it to more people too.

tHANK THE LORD ITS NOT A PAID APP (YET) - IM STILL IN SCHOOL SO I CANT REALLY AFFORD EVERYTHING IN GENERAL MUCH LESS MEMBERSHIPS OR ACCESS TO BETTER FEATURES IN APPS
