Whenever I’m watching anime for studying Japanese I pull out this app because it’s the best one out there. It comes with actual common sentences (both for Japanese and English) and even tells you how to write the kanji (Which is reallyy helpful giving the fact that written kanji may be VERY different compared to online kanji) It also gives you different verbs and I think a flashcard/ studying option (which i think is the reason for the negative reviews, but it doesn’t really matter) words you’ve searched up appear on you’re history and overall, this is a really great app for studying and searching up ANY word (Typed in english or Japanese) Please download because this app is the ultimate game changer!

  • Great

Nice ui and full of important info
  • I love this app

This dictionary has almost everything I could possibly want from a dictionary app. It has the stroke order of kanji, which is why I downloaded it in the first place, and it’s been incredibly helpful in my efforts to learn the characters. It includes the multiple readings of the kanji and even has example words and phrases, which would be more than enough to please me, but it gets even better. You can bookmark words and characters, you can create flash cards, it includes hiragana and katakana… it even has words separated into categories for convenience! You can sort out words related to food, business, tech, and more. And the kanji can be sorted by grade learned, or JLPT level! Plus, you can search words with letters or meanings. I kept getting excited over again every time I found a new feature, and I’ve recommended it to several friends who are also learning. I’m astounded at how amazing and convenient it is for no cost.

  • Very helpful

The several ways to search is super helpful and the way to read is great. The only thing I think could push this further are example questions on a JLPT. Otherwise super helpful and great app and would recommend
  • Best Japanese dictionary out there!

    I just love this app.
  • Absolutely vital

If you know a few of the radicals, you can even look up unfamiliar kanji with Shirabe Jisho’s “similar looking kanji” sections. It’s beyond useful into “how did I learn or write without this?!” level, altho I do look forward to when I don’t need to look up things quite as often.

Also, you can create your own lists, notes, examples, and organise them as you like. I have no idea how this is free but I’d be happy to donate a tenner to keep it free for everyone.
    It’s genuinely amazing. How even.

  • 100% recommend

I use this app every day, it’s by far the best language learning dictionary I’ve ever used (and I've used quite a few!).

It works offline, it lets you draw characters, it explains radicals and gives example sentences. You can even save words and study them as flashcards later. Definitely recommend for anyone learning Japanese.

  • The perfect app for Japanese learners

This app is very helpful and a real life saver. And all being free is literally amazing. I would definitely recommend this to all Japanese learners who would like to find all kanjis separated multiple times in different categories. No matter if you learn it for school, a course, or just study by yourself, this app will guaranteed help you so well. You can also find how to write the kanjis and many sentences said in everyday life in real situations.
