Could be helpful, but better apps out there
Their approach of splitting out the questions into small regular chunks was quite good, and made it quite digestible. The mood tracking was quite basic, didn’t give that many options of how you were feeling to select, and there was no capacity for logging factors that might be related to mood and wellbeing (eg exercise, stressors, menstrual cycle), like other apps have.
The biggest issue is that this seems to function as a massive ad for better help, at every step you are funnelled towards getting therapy with them, including this advice being delivered as if it is some personalised insight specifically for you. Betterhelp has a lot of issues, I know clinicians and clients that have serious issues with them, so I would really recommend people to do their research before using- and I note that BetterHelp has been very active in trying to suppress people speaking out about their concerns, they have been issuing legal threats.
Overall, I can’t recommend this app.
Loved the app but it’s time to go.
Response from developer
Dear Joschua, thank you very much for your rating and detailed feedback. We take your words to heart and will improve the points you mentioned, as we understand that such errors reduce the motivation to continue using the app. We wish you all the best and are sorry to see you go. Best wishes, your MindDoc team.
Brilliant app;
It’s been particularly useful since I began engaging in psychotherapy with a psychologist for two main reasons:
1. I have been asked to keep a mood diary and I have struggled to keep up the practise until I began using MindDoc; and
2. The content is well-written, easy to understand and serves to reinforce the concepts I discuss with the mental health practitioners I consult no matter the chosen intervention (e.g., ACT, CBT, Schema Therapy or IFS).
I am eager to see what patterns develop over time!
