First charge

How long is it supposed to take to charge the darn thing? It’s been charging for 6 hours and it still isn’t fully charged. I’m not impressed. If that’s how long it takes to charge it, forget it.

Love this bottle

Wish they had a better color section. That needs work, should be able add up To 6 Colors Gradient effects. & i wish the pro bottles had Hoilday themes. Like white with red hearts valentines hearts, Halloween 🎃 pumpkins all around. & wish they had clear pro thermos. The lighted all up! Like a acrylic plastic outter display & the outer metal thermos inside. Was all led’s. That you customize to glow rainbow, gradient red, purple, pink, white, Valentine’s, rainbow 🌈 imagine Selecting. For bottle To glow. top to bottom or bottom to top option. The leds would glow through the colors. & have a slider slow to fast. & whole thermos lights up inside the clear acrylic body. Or clear hard silcone. slowly lighting up. Not just the bottom. & if you were created like that you could even have preet patterns. Like hearts swirling around the thermos, pumpkins, like even could make 1 out of a OLED Display. With hard clear silcone. Then The thermos could look anyway you wanted it to. Could display photos on it. Id pay like $199 for bottle like that. Thats handwash only! Hidrate spark this idea could be a game changer. Hidrate spark 1st smart hydrate tracker, Oled display thermos bottles… OLED is essentially a Displays made from a metal sheet that has programable pixels in it. Be Amazing. I’m sure in the future this could be a very possible thing!

App has high consume of battery

Hi developers of the app, would you please check the battery consumption of the app ?
I checked and tried 3 times to reinstall but it keeps consuming battery in background despite that the app is disabled in background app refresh option. I’ll uninstall it and wait for updates. Thank you.

Good idea, very bad physical implementation.

I'm rating the product and app together.
The app is ok, but the charge for the added features, after charging too much money for a very poorly designed bottle is laughable.

Charging for app features after purchase. -1 star.
Non-standard custom charging cable -1 star.
I have to remove the base to charge. -1 star.
I can't use the bottle while charging. -1 star.

They should have included the ability to use an inductive charger, like all other products we are using now. That would make this a product useful.

After having my hydrate spark pro for several months now and only bothering to charge it maybe three times because it's a pain in the neck to find and use their special, tiny, easily damaged, cheaply manufactured, charging cable. Then you have to TAKE THE UNIT APART to plug it in with this cable, and wait, and cannot use the bottle while it is charging.

Along with the cable charging mechanism there souls have been an indication charging base that I can set the unit down on, from time to time. Like my Ember mug, or my OralB toothbrush, or my watch, or my phone... They created an out of date, clumsy to use product, then had the gaul to ask for more money for the extra app features.

If the bottle isn't not ergonomic, then it is just an expensive water bottle, with zero added benefit over a free water bottle you get at a trade show.

Edit: I contacted support who informed me I needed to do the same troubleshooting steps I had already done. It actually worked the second time around though so I’m adding 2 stars to my review. However, it is still not a 5 star app as I can only track water. I don’t drink the other 5 manual entry liquids to choose from, the majority of which appear to be a specific brand of drinks I’ve never heard of called Wave. I can’t add sparkling water. I can’t add sports drinks like Gatorade. It’s fine, they don’t have to add this ability since it’s mainly a water app, but it does still limit the utility of the app for me since I need to record those drinks in an entirely different place. Even the ability to add notes for a particular day or the ability to add drinks with a name I type in myself that does NOT contribute to what Hidrate calculates as my goal would make this app a 4 or 5 star for me.

Prior review: Brand new bottle, and it’s just not detecting the water automatically. I have to manually tell the app when I drink and how much. What’s the point then of connecting the app to my water bottle?? I only bought it so it would update AUTOMATICALLY how much I drank. Useless.

Great bottle

Never have I felt more encouraged to drink and stay hidrated. This was gifted to me and I absolutely love it! My only suggestion would be to allow us to add different types of drinks to the drink list, like (hot) chocolate or matcha which I just add as coffees for now, otherwise completely recommend. The app is very self-explanatory and easy to use, visually too after the latest update is quite pleasant to the eye. Just be aware that the other types of drinks (listed in the app) are only available in the US, so if you don’t live there you can’t purchase them (or at least I haven’t been able to find them).

App Update Glitches

First, I absolutely LOVE my bottle (and have been a Hidrate user since the original Kickstarter campaign in 2015). However, it seems like every time a major overhaul update to the app is launched, it’s premature and/or glitchy.
Regarding the newest update - v3.2.0:
Pros: I like the look of the new interface, glowing green goal makes it easy to see where I am for the day, and I like that all the stats breakdowns are now on the Home screen
Cons: manual add drink list carousel is no longer continuous, reorder drink list option isn’t working (drag & drop to reorder automatically resets to default), toggle to show alcoholic beverages without any way to actually add alcoholic beverages to drink list, app routinely glitches in the middle of an action (this has been happening for a while…)
I like that you continue to make advancements to the app, but please make sure it has gone through thorough testing before public release. New “features” that don’t actually work are frustrating & make your development team look incompetent.

Poor Customer Service!

On January 31, 2023 I submitted a ticket about my bottle no longer working and Akina responded. After several weeks of going back and forth she sent me another sensor. She refused to tell me if it was new or refurbished. I had it for less than a week and it stopped working. Out of frustration I stopped using my bottle and planned to throw it away. I changed my mind about throwing it away because I paid over $100 for the bottle and accessories. Before purchasing a bottle for myself, I also purchased one for my sister. It took a ridiculous amount of time going back and forth to get a response from support. I had to follow up nonstop. It took forever to get a response from Akina. This time I am also going to contact the Better Business Bureau. The service I received was not satisfactory. It should not take a 2-3 week period for a customer to get assistance. I requested assistance January 31, 2023 and was within my 100 days. My bottle is still not working. I loved the bottle when it worked. Now I would give ZERO stars if I could. I do not recommend buying this bottle. I almost purchased additional bottles for my employees and now am glad I did not! Cassandra Woods

Wish we could be more social

None of my friends have this water bottle /app. It would be nice to be able to communicate and make friends with others that’s use the app and the people you participate in challenges with 🙂

Focuses too much on gimmicks

Would rather an app that has functional features over things like a feature to be able to take a photo of your drink bottle when it lights up. I thought having bought this from Apple that it would have more integration with an Apple Watch and be more in line with Apple Watch motivational features.
Over all the app works fine, just not intuitive and could be a lot better.
