It’s great when you use it for a first time driver…

So I’m a new driver who has just passed this month and when I set up the app for the smart box it was great! I got updates every day and it tells me my score and tracks the journey times. There was a small problem with the app when I first got it but it’s now all been resolved due to the app team who were able to fix it right away. I would definitely recommend getting the app and going with the insurance providers as at the time I researched they were the cheapest and I’m really happy with the company.

Car insurance

Never had any problems at all with this company! I got them in 2021 as a first time driver and stuck with them for my second year as they’ve been incredible, anything I need advice wise they help straight away with no problems, couldn’t recommend enough, the quotes I received was great prices also!

Rubbish/ scam

Parents forced me to get a black box even though it was more expensive than alternative quotes.
This app is a scam, it over reads my mileage, says I'm speeding when I'm not and battery meter is very unreliable.
I am a safe driver, however been accused of speeding in national speed limit zones- which for some reason are recorded as 30s in some places. They usually amend the zones after a phone call and a “check on their system” however sometimes you are required to drive all the way back to the place which you are accused of speeding in, and take pictures of the speed limit. Even the agent on the phone admitted said it was showing as a national speed limit on their system, but needed dated evidence it hadn’t changed? - great! love wasting my limited milage to prevent being fined!!

Furthermore, i planned a route on maps of around 80 miles- after completing the journey my trip counter had gone from 0 to 82 or something, however Fluxscore have said i covered 148 miles!

Im sorry but surely this is fraud? If you have any option, steer clear of getting a black box.
Please note this has only been about a month since i’ve changed my policy and had at least 5 phone calls already to amend the speeding.

Random routes

That app has its ups and downs. The good things I like is how it tracks my mileage and that it tells me when the blackbox needs charging. But when it comes to recording my journeys, sometimes it messes up. Like one day I drove from point A to home, then the day after I went from home to point B. Somehow the blackbox tracked my journey saying I went from point A straight to B. And it also sometimes shows that I’ve gone in a loop 3-4 times when I didn’t.

Okay app

The app all around is okay, the one thing I don’t like is how you can get ‘bad driving’ for a day and increase your renewal. But it doesn’t actually say what you’ve got bad driving for; say harsh breaking etc, however some days I’ll think I’m driving perfectly fine and I’ll still get bad driving even though I don’t speed, don’t do harsh turns and don’t break harshly, so half the time I’m confused as to what I’ve actually done wrong considering its making my insurance price go up for next year.

Blackbox review + app itself

The app is perfect, easy to navigate and provides sufficient notifications including weather mileage and black box battery charge and score, recommend Flux to any new drivers been driving 3 years very reliable

Love this app!!

I love this app! It’s so easy to use and understand.

I really love how I can see my renewal price going down and what i could be paying when my yr is up.
I love logging in to the app each morning and seeing how much money I have saved.

The best part is I can also track my miles so I don’t have to worry about going over them.

I often forget to check my battery level (even though it’s on the app) but luckily for me the box will sent me texts and emails when the battery is low.

My mum and dad also like logging into the app so they can see how well I’m driving and how much money I can save them.

They can also check my journeys and see where I’m doing well.
The map is easy to read green is good and red is bad. So I try and keep the map green so I save as much money as I can!

I’d definitely recommend to all my friends!

Great app and company

As a parent being able to check on my daughters driving is such a piece of mind. Love seeing the renewal prize come down for next year.
The app shows all the journeys in let 7 days and shows where there was speeding. Can also see the mileage used and the battery of the smart box.
Really happy with the app, insurance and the service from Adrian flux is 5 star.

Very helpful

Updates to the app are great. I am notified of my predicted renewal premium daily.

I can see my journeys and review these to see where I have been speeding. It even tells me how many days my mileage will last so I don’t have to worry about counting them up!

Very easy to use/ understand for younger drivers too.

Does everything you could need it too

In my last review I said that the journeys section wasn’t working however has just started putting my journeys on there finally :))

There are some hiccups with the app however is a good resource for tracking your mileage and how they score your driving 🚘
