  • Link Dark

This is my first cellular trail camera. I was extremely skeptical at first due to some of the negative reviews. Iโ€™ve only had the camera for one day but I wanted to write a review because this camera has surpassed my expectations in every department thus far.

Iโ€™ve used a lot of trail cameras in the past. Cuddeback, Reconyx, Stealth Cam, etc..

The link dark was easier to set up than any other camera Iโ€™ve used. I had no problems linking my camera to the app. I then put the camera in my living room to see if it would take pictures and If they would send them to my phone. Iโ€™m receiving all the pictures on my phone. (Great picture quality) canโ€™t wait to see how clear they are on the SD card.

The only problem Iโ€™ve had is trying to change the cameras settings through the app. I would recommend to change the settings, through the camera, like photo delay before you put the camera in the field. Itโ€™s extremely easy to do on the camera and once you have your preferences picked out youโ€™re ready to rock.

Great product so far! Look forward to purchasing some more.

  • Thought Iโ€™d like it

I was really excited about my new Link-S Cameras and getting everything set up in this app. The app has worked well, and the cameras have worked well, setup was easy. BUT, Iโ€™m not getting full resolution photos. Reading other reviews, I am seeing that it is designed to put the full resolution photo on the SD card and sends a highly compressed garbage image to the app. Ok... so why am I paying for a cellular camera if I have to go and retrieve the photos in person??? For the alerts? I donโ€™t need alerts, I wanted a remote access solar camera. Very misleading advertising. If the box shows 12megapixel quality, it should stay 12 megapixel in all uses of the device. Or put a giant disclaimer next to that saying โ€œIt can take 12mp pictures, but you wonโ€™t ever see that unless you drive out to your camera and download the SD cardโ€.

I have had a great experience with the link evo cameras. I purchased 2 of them due to needing surveillance on my seasonal property that has no power that had been broken into. Not only were they easy to set up but 1 week after setting them up I was alerted by one of the cameras of another break in and was able to give the police a very detailed play by play report of what I was seeing so they could get the officers there and catch the two men in the act. If you have a seasonal cabin these work wonderful for surveillance. I have also had great technical support answering any/all my questions and concerns. Thank you SPYPOINT I highly recommend you and the link-evo!

  • Expensive, fragile, glitchy, not waterproof at all!

Iโ€™m on my second camera due to the first one getting water internally from a rainstorm. The plan cost me $180 a year to have and I had major issues getting it to send pictures. Itโ€™s my least favorite trail cam due to the over $400 I have invested in it. Picture quality is downright terrible, fails to send pictures half the time. Startup is a nightmare. After this plan is up Iโ€™ll be selling it in hopes of getting some of my investment back out of it. I should have read reviews before I bought it like I do everything else. Donโ€™t get sucked in by the free plan. Squirrels and raccoons will eat that plan up and you have a standard trail cam again. It said on the box it was capable of 48 mp but I havenโ€™t seen any ability to make it 48 mp. Itโ€™s like an ancient cell phone camera at best. Iโ€™d recommend any other brand cell transmitting camera over this one.
