  • Great network however confusing

I find the app confusing and not user friendly to beginners. I love the concept and appeal to it! I think it needs some work compared to its pc counterpart.

I feel the service is similar to discord and better than if in some aspects. I love the app and how it works it is original and nothing I’ve ever seen before

  • Registration & log in

Registered and tried to log in multiple times.
    failed!
    Please provide some instructions.
  • When it works it’s great, when it works

Every now and then the app won’t open. It just spins continuously until my screen lock comes on. To fix it I have to delete the app, reinstall it, reconnect it to our server and even then I might have to do it a few times.

Apart from that issue (which is quite a big one) it works well.
  • Couldn’t Get it to Work

The two tech savvy of our family, myself included, tried to give Element a test drive. So many circular errors in “verifying” each other, when when we sat right beside each other, could not ever get it going. No way this is going to work for the rest of our family and friends. Maybe we’ll try again in a couple years when they’ve worked out the UX issues.

  • Best free E2EE open-source messenger

At time of writing, this app has a 3.7 rating and that is a very fair assessment of its quality and usability. It isn’t the most user-friendly messenger on the App Store, but some of that is by design. The lower more critical ratings are not fair IMHO; some of the inconvenience of security is required for it to be secure i.e. needing to verify keys devices and users, etc. People want privacy and security without adding additional steps but those steps create more privacy and security inherently. Case in point, 2 factor authentication. Is it quicker to not enable for your internet accounts? Sure. Does taking an extra few seconds make you more secure? Absolutely. All of that said, both my tech-illiterate parents (in their 60s) and my older gen-X siblings use this app daily without any issue.

  • Poll vote or something similar like this

I hope you could update your app so that we can use for acknowledgement in a group so that we could easily see who were the ones received our message something like the poll vote of telegram app or something better
  • Full of bugs

Element is great when it works, but the app is frequently buggy, and right now I can’t get the device verification to work for encrypted messages, because it gets cancelled every time. Seems like the developers aren’t concerned with making a stable application.
  • looks good

only gripe was the t&c accept button needs precise touch to ‘tick’ the round bullet point above it before the button becomes active. maybe make it actually look like a tick box?!
  • Terrible app, glitchy at best

Not secure even though they claim it is. Was flooded with encryption errors could never really use it. The fix was supposed to be clear you cache and if that didn’t work uninstall then re-install the app. Never worked for me it was hit and miss weather I could communicate with my group, there has to be something better out there for group chats than this.

  • Terrible app & no respect for their users

The app is full of glitches & problems. You have to constantly clear your cache in order for it to decrypt your messages. It is not user friendly & when you try to scroll up to catch up on the conversation, it jumps back & forth from top to bottom randomly while you try to dial in on messages in between. Much better options out there. Keep scrolling.
