Almost there...

So many nice things about Canary Mail, BUT... needs the ability to select within each email view whether or not to show images. You can turn it off or on in settings - but sometimes I want to see an email with inline images, and other times I want the security of not downloading images by default. This feature is available in other email apps - needs to be added here.

Also... why an additional click to enable selection of multiple emails for deletion? Other email apps allow for long press of an email to enable multi-select, with delete icon at bottom of sidebar.

Add these two changes and I’d be quick to part with $20 for the Pro version. As it is, I’m still looking for a full featured email program.

Works well 90% of the time

I chose this app over any others for the pinning feature. This is critical for me as there are important emails that I don’t want to miss, so this feature will always keep them at the top. I’m also able to snooze emails so the app reminds me to review them later on. Composing email works great as well. The one issue I’m having is that sometimes emails don’t load fully. It cuts off the bottom of the email. This happens in marketing emails... I noticed because I’m always scrolling to the bottom to find the “Unsubscribe” button, which isn’t there because the email was cut off. I’d have to go on my laptop to find the email and unsubscribe from there instead, which is inconvenient. Not sure if this is a known bug, but please fix soon.

priority is privacy so prove it

I tested the app on ios and macos, seems very interesting features etc, although the price to pay for every single device yet at this stage seems way to high... I found the ios version to be quite slow especially when launching the ap/opening a message from a notifications etc (all pretty fast on my phone). The notifications are way slower than default mail app or other ones.
But mainly since your main selling point is privacy, security, there should be clear detailed evidence of that... is canary open source? was it peer reviewed and audited? unbiased external articles/testing proving so? there should be a clear comparison table of functionalities vs other clients such as thunderbird, ios mail etc. Till then I can't use and pay for the service. If you have any such documentation thanks for forwarding it. Regards

Doesn’t work properly

I have a subscription to canary through SetApp but the app on My phone constantly insists I must pay a separate subscription to get the full benefits on My phone despite already being subscribed through SetApp.

I’ve been using the app for months but every day I get a notification for a welcome message telling Me to start by adding an account... I have more than 3 accounts active on the app and use them daily. There’s also no way to turn these notifications off. I receive emails and notifications non stop about starting using canary, and I don’t understand why since I use the app on a daily basis. There’s also NO way to turn these marketing notifications off without silencing the app completely.

It works but not completely. It’s really frustrating to be unable to stop it from emailing Me and notifying Me about useless information that’s intended for those who just created an account. I hope they fix it because it’s starting to drive Me crazy.

Great Email App

I have been playing with all the email apps today. This was the last one I tried. I wish I started with it. All the other email apps did something good or had the something about the appearance I liked. Unfortunately , they all had some problem. Push notifications didn’t work, accounts were not colored , no unified box, etc. Then I came across this. Everything works so far. All my email is pushed from yahoo, iCloud, and gmail almost instantly. Interface is crisp and clean. Pro trial is 30 days, which is a good trail length. I will definitely pay my 20 bucks after thirty days as long they keep this app as is or better. Very pleased. Thanks Canary , whoever you are.

Looks great; frustratingly slow.

There’s a lot to love about Canary Mail, and I’d like to keep using it, but it fails at the one thing I need it for—checking my email.

Refreshing my Google Apps mail account often takes upwards of 15 seconds, even over a fibre internet connection, and with no background refresh, it makes it impossible to check email quickly.

Solution to encrypted e mails

For a long time I was looking for a application that can manage encrypted e mails in iOS.And Canary did the trick.Very user friendly, reliable and nice to use.

Sound of frustration

So far, so good… or OK. There are some features I'd like to see here that I've seen in other clients that are useful… export to EML, undo doesn't undo anything, message filtering to folders, single price for iOS and desktop … though the thing that gets me most is the inability to turn of the the sent mail 'swoosh' sound. Which is baffling since there's no sound for new mail even when on. It may seem trivial, but that annoying take-off 'swoosh' makes me regret my purchase. Support has told me that's not an 'option' which makes me nervous about what else wont be after more use is under my belt. It's my own fault for getting excited something actually worked and not diving in deeper with the trial version, but I assumed turning sound off/on would be a given at any level. It's a dealbreaker for me unfortunately though there's a lot to like here.

Refreshing but inconsistent

I've tried them all; Edison, Spark, Airmail, Outlook, Newton. Canary looked to be the endgame for me since it had everything the stock Mail app offered plus some bonuses. And it is/was. The UX is clean and easy to use, WatchOS notifications work well, and I love the color ID option per account. However it's also plagued by sync issues, especially across multiple platforms, and erratic content formatting. I found myself repeating actions on both my iPhone and iPad (also cellular) which can be painstaking. Viewing emails is really a big hit or miss. Some load perfectly fine, some only load halfway or skew the content, and others don't even load at all. This is a fundamental function and after almost 6 months I'm convinced it's the coding that either refuses to be fixed or really is just the way it is. Which leaves me no choice but to dump the app and return to the native option. Thanks for the time. Maybe I'll revisit in a year and see where things are.
