Beoplay EX

I bought these headphones just over a year ago, and regretted it from day 1! I read reviews saying “great sound but issues with Bluetooth connection”. I thought they would have sorted this with an update, but no they didn’t. I updated to the latest version a week ago hoping to see an improvement in this. Unfortunately I now have a set of $600 headphones that will only play through one channel once connected to my phone. I have tried to pair the headphones on multiple occasions to my phone but this still does not fix this very frustrating problem. DO NIT BUY THESE HEADPHONE! B&O, sort it out!

New main screen

Overall the app works fine, and the new main screen looks sharp and adds a dash of color, but now it shows simple designs for the noise canceling-off-transparency so you can no longer adjust them incrementally as you could before. You can still adjust them using the dial on the left ear cup of the H95 headphones I but can’t see in the app where it is set (before you could see levels such as max, high, med, low all the way to the max transparency). It looks clean but why remove a useful function? Also always shows “no source” for music because it doesn’t connect to the music apps I use, which admittedly is not a function I use anyway. One other item is the “optimal” preset seems to have been removed so I had to recreate my own version of it. Was it removed intentionally or is it an over sight? 2 steps forward but 5 steps back I think. (I only use the app with the H95 headphones, I do not own any bang & Olufsen speakers to comment on the functionality of those).

Issue with charging

A1 2nd generation speaker is not charging at all, works only when connected to power. Often unable to pair it with my iPhone. When playing, static and cracking disturbances occur. Disconnects easily. Attempted to reset, reload the app, and add the speaker again - all have not fixed the issue. I will be returning the speaker and have no intention to buy another one. I find it annoying when my phone conversations automatically are transferred to the speaker without an option to choose the phone vs speaker.

Change in connection

Spotify no longer works between devices, endless scrolling for reasons unknown. There is no rationale for a Bluetooth connection being this extra

The Bang & Olufsen beosound explore is an amazing Bluetooth speaker. The device is small but packs a lot of power, its small in size but big muscle. The sound had a very good dialog and details are more pronounced and stable. Being a staple of design and uniqueness not to mention its Ferrari edition inspired brings more of that luxury not only by its looks or appearance but performance is also on a bang. Despite of its performance it’s also a versatile device regardless of indoor or outdoor use, which to a point that I’m very excited about due to its scratch resistant and water submerged capability the beosound explore will still continue to perform at its best with ease. Overall, im definitely satisfied with this item and the very first time I heard and use the beosound explore I’m immediately impressed by the sound quality and purity. Bang & Olufsen beosound explore is how the premium product is supposed to be in particularly to the, “Ferrari Edition” that adds more quality, looks, feels and ultimately the sound best matches throughout its design.

Firmware Update Ruined Beoplay EX

It just keeps getting worse with my Beoplay EX headphones. They sound great! When they work. Use multipoint? Your audio will drop out constantly. Sometimes you'll have to turn them off and on completely to get audio working on any device again. God, what I'd do to be able to easily control Bluetooth connection priority, or at least turn multipoint off. Every single firmware update makes the Beoplay EX headphones worse. I would return these if I could, but Bang and Olufsen took months to completely ruin these headphones, and now I'm stuck with this trash. More control over Bluetooth settings is a must, it would at least let us work around the worst implementation of multipoint I've ever heard. I've never been so frustrated with a Bluetooth device. Ever. It's infuriating. About Bang and Olufsen products in general. They'll break your device with a firmware update with no way to revert and you'll be stuck with a $400 paperweight.

Update: I have spoken with support. They were not helpful. The problem is in this device's firmware. They want to just throw more headphones at me until I'm "happy." Or, rather, until I accept that they won't be improving the firmware, I guess. No promises made to improve anything with these busted headphones.
