  • The best app ever !!!!!!

I have medical but it’s been impossible to get my psychical medical card for over 6 months and no website or birth control app would look up my medical without my card so I had no birth control for 6 months and was suffering with 3 month long periods and endometriosis .. but I googled websites that will ship birth control and use medical again and planned parenthood came up and they were able to look up my medical without my card and use my insurance !!! They video chatted me on the app to make sure I’m the face on my ID and they accepted my medical and our shipping me my birth control !!! No more 3 month long periods and I get my birth control again !!! I’m so happy planned parenthood is the best they were the only website that would look up my medical since I do have medical but never received my psychical card !!!! They are the best thank you !!!!!

  • Birth Control

I’ve been taking for over 10 years and use and have been paying a lot of money to the gynecologist once a year because I don’t have insurance right now. But I was fine paying out of pocket for everything, but lately it’s been a real chore trying to get an appointment with the doctor. I will have to wait 3 or 4 months to find an available appointment. And only in the time that they have available, so sometimes I would have to take off work to go. I already have 3 kids and I’m not planning on having any more, so I’m just refilling the pill for now. I decided I would give planned parenthood a try. They were great- I having my pills delivered with need to wait 3 months for an appointment. Thanks!

  • Affordable, thorough, & convenient!

I’ve been using the PPDirect app for years to obtain my annual birth control prescription. I originally turned to the app when my OB/GYN of 8 years was unavailable for 6 weeks & would not do anything to cover the 2-week gap I would’ve experienced with my birth control. I’m SO GRATEFUL for the affordable options & extensive selection of resources provided by the PPDirect app, as well as the decades of support Planned Parenthood has always provided for women in need!

The step-by-step guide allows users to choose their BC method & preferred brand, while conducting a thorough health assessment. It’s only takes a day to get the prescription sent to my local pharmacy (although you can also choose mail delivery). I feel safe & well-informed following the guidance in the app, & medical staff are extremely responsive.

  • Great idea, but executed poorly

I love the option to order birth control online and have it shipped straight to me. However, the app has some major bugs that are now causing me to run out of my prescription.

I had a video chat set up for 1:00pm today and entered the call at 12:58pm. I received an email at 12:59pm stating I had a new message, but the email didn’t say what the message said. I received another email at 1:05pm informing me that I had a new message, but I couldn’t view either message without ending the video call.

I waited until 2:15pm in the “waiting room” for the doctor to answer my call, thinking that maybe they were running behind and would get to me eventually, and that’s what the messages were about. Eventually, I realized that the doctor was not going to answer my call, so I ended the video chat. Then I checked the messages to see that at 12:59pm, the doctor informed me they were waiting on my video call. At 1:05pm, they informed me they were cancelling my request because I didn’t answer their video chat, even though I had been in the waiting room that whole time.

I submitted a new request, but there isn’t a new video chat opening for 5 days, which means I likely won’t get my prescription in time.

Whatever bug caused this issue NEEDS to be fixed. There also needs to be an option to read messages without ending the video call, because that ultimately would have helped me avoid the predicament I’m now in.

  • Feature request to help trans patients

This app is fantastic & came in handy when I had a UTI that I needed treated quickly. The only complaint I have is this: There is a section in the app for sex assigned at birth, and there is an option for gender, but there is no third option to input legal sex. I’m a trans man, so I was assigned female at birth, which I noted in the app, and I also input my gender as FTM. However, my legal sex has been changed to male. Having no option to input legal sex for trans patients can cause issues with prescriptions, medical records, and insurance. It seems the app is assuming assigned sex at birth will match legal sex. This is frequently not the case when it comes to trans people like myself. It would be very helpful if there were also a third field for selecting legal sex.

  • Highly recommend this app!

I had run out of refills of my birth control and needed a new prescription so I decided to give Planned Parenthood Direct a try and am glad I did!. Being on Medicaid, it can be hard to find a doctor to accept it but thankfully Planned Parenthood accepts Medicaid in my state. Some states require a telehealth visit but mine does not. All I did was answered a few questions, filled out my payment info and submitted my request. I had submitted mine around the Holidays so it took them a couple days to get back to me but the provider I had was very professional and prescribed the birth control I requested. I now have a whole years worth of refills thanks to Planned Parenthood Direct and I will continue to use them in the future when I need more refills. Also I did have issues getting the app to work when I was connected to wi-fi. However when I disconnected from wi-fi it ended up loading/working just fine. Unsure as of why this is though.

  • Fast and easy customer service but needs more acceptance for those on Medicaid

I was a loyal patient of The Pill Club up until they filed for bankruptcy and closed operations. Being on Medicaid I was especially worried about access to birth control since I knew not every provider accepted my insurance. After trying and failing to get birth control with another company, Planned Parenthood Direct accepted my Medicaid plan (albiet they only accept it in very few states- I just happens to be lucky enough to live in one of those states). Within the same day I was approved to get a years worth of my prescription! It’s not the same brand that I would have preferred but it is of the same generic equivalent which is fine enough by me. I’ve never had birth control service this quickly. I’ve also never received my questions answered this quickly. It’s quite amazing. I wish I could recommend it to anyone on Medicaid but they only accept it in California, Washington, Minnesota, and Michigan according to their website. That’s the only reason this is 4 stars. Those of us on Medicaid are the most vulnerable. Please try your best to accept Medicaid in more states.

  • Worked Perfectly

I’m very impressed by the Planned Parenthood app. I’ve never used birth control before, and was intimidated by the prospect of having to deal with a doctor’s office and waiting periods, etc. to get a prescription. This app bypasses all of that. You can get birth control by answering a few questions. A clinician immediately started reviewing my answers, asked me a few follow up questions, and quickly matched me with the best birth control pill for me. More than a year’s worth of my pills were shipped to my house within a few days. The entire experience was so much more convenient than I had ever expected.

Those complaining that Planned Parenthood doesn’t cover their state or region should take that up with your state representatives. The politicians putting red tape on your reproductive organs are the reason you can’t get coverage, not Planned Parenthood. They aren’t denying you coverage out of spite, they’re limited by legal restrictions and medical coverage in your region. Time to talk to your regional political leaders, not leave bad reviews on an app for an organization that is trying to help you. In my experience, Planned Parenthood does excellent work when they are allowed to. But they have to be allowed to do so.

  • CHECK THE APP YOURSELF

I got PP direct because the service I was using for birth control beforehand raised their prices. Getting the prescription was easy enough, but the delivery was another story. They sent it through USPS so it went to our mailbox (shared with several houses in the community). ALL OF MY NOTIFICATIONS FOR THE PP DIRECT APP WERE TURNED ON, but I wasn’t notified about the delivery. I had to go in the app myself to see the message saying it was delivered, but by then it was sitting in a 90°+ mailbox for over 24 hours, and though the customer service person was nice, nobody could tell me if the birth control was compromised or not. The actual provider never even messaged me back, I just heard back from customer service. Now I’m down $60 for birth control that I can’t even use because I’m worried they won’t be effective. Long story short, you have to check the app yourself, don’t rely on the notification service.

  • Use GoodRx and Pick-up in Pharmacy for $25 Birth Control

I’m a travel physical therapist and have always ran into the issue of changing healthcare providers and pharmacies every 3 months along with having unstable insurance between assignments.

I’m currently between assignments and was out of refills on my birth control. I figured I would have to schedule an appointment and end up paying out of pocket for both my appointment and birth control. When I went to schedule an appointment on the Planned Parenthood website I discovered this app. Within 5 days I picked up the exact same prescription I’d been using at a pharmacy in a city I was passing through. The prescription was $140 without insurance, but with the GoodRx app, I ended up paying only $25. AMAZING.

I wish I had known about this program YEARS ago. I will definitely spread the word!
