  • Broken Game

I bought two DLC packs and now most of the game is broken. Buttons and text just display LOC_XXX so it’s impossible to use the new features such as World Congress. I am unable to get a refund even after spending an additional $50 on DLC. With such a huge issue you’d expect a quick rollback or patch, but it’s been over a week now.

  • Great game, but a bug is killing it.

The game plays fantastically on the iPad Pro. But recently with the latest leader update there is a glitch which shows temporary file names and it makes the game very hard to play. Until this is fixed I only give it a 3 stars. It has been almost a month with this issue. PLEASE FIX IT!
  • Too many BIG bugs as of December update

Civ 6 is buggy on all platforms, but I was playing it happily on iPad until the last update in mid December. As others have noted, computer parameter language is shot all through the game, blocking needed information. Even more frustrating than that, before turn 200 my Loyalty lens stops working, making it impossible to play a loyalty flipping game. I love this game, but I’m skeptical of giving Firaxis more money for Civ 7 when they can’t be arsed to fix Civ 6 (some bugs have been ongoing for years) which I’ve bought every DLC for.

  • Great game, poorly ported

Let me start by saying I love the Civ series, especially Civ 6, but I would NOT suggest buying the game on iOS after the latest updates. In the past few weeks I noticed that certain prompts in the game have completely lost their descriptions or flavor text and have been replaced with what I can only assume is the variable or constant name assigned to the description (like a positive diplomatic response has been replaced with something along those he lines of LOC_RESPONSE_POSITIVE). If you’ve played the game a lot you can usually guess what prompt you’re getting and know generally how to respond, but if you’re relatively new this makes the game unplayable and it sharply diminishes immersion. Crashes and lag have also grown more frequent and the combination of these bugs pushed me to try to reinstall the game. That only made things worse! Now I can’t install my previously purchased DLC (it stays stuck at 0% downloaded no matter what network I try) which removes a lot of the updated features and behaviors that I crave in Civ 6. Hopefully the developer will work to fix these issues, but until then I cannot recommend purchasing this game on iOS systems.

  • December update introduced bugs that greatly hurts game

As others have mentioned, there is a pervasive bug that introduces place holder text into many parts of the game. I can try to play through them, but it severely limits my enjoyment since you lose a lot of information, which is vital to a game like Civ 6. I love this game. I played well over 1000 hours on my ipad and bought every dlc because i enjoyed it so much. It really pains me, but the recent update has made this game unplayable for me. This has been particularly disappointing since I could not play when I had free time during the past holiday season. Once it gets fixed, I will again be able to give 5 stars and say this is one of the best games on IOS.

  • a bit more optimized now

i have noticed that the game is now less laggy and overall smoother so ill raise my review from 2 stars to 3, now all it needs is even more optimization so we can play on constant 60 fps or even 120hz which would be even better, and better graphics are needed too because the current graphics look pixely if you look close, also i wish if it had dlc sync because i paid quite a lot of money on all of the dlcs on pc, i would like to have them here too

original review: if this game was optimized really good i would probably waste my life on it, but currently its laggy so you must avoid big maps and more than one ai opponent, work on this game for the love of god it has potential on mobile phones the same way it had potential on pc

  • A bit expensive for a phone with a couple bugs but doesn’t hurt the game to much

I am a bit bias. I love civ as a franchise think they make the best turn based strategy. The Bug I have are in the world Congress is say LOC_ whatever. not a big deal If you’ve played the game before and know what the world Congress does. And I think it’s because of the leader pack update. But I’d give the game a 3/5 without dlc and a 4/5 with either rise&fall, gathering storm mind you after all is that it’s 50$. If it wasn’t for the bug I’d give it a 4.5-5. So if you interested in and like in civ id say buy it don’t worry about the cost it’s a great game. But if your not a huge civ player just casual stick with the base model maybe get the Australian pack at that point 25$ which for a phone game is a lot but you do pay for what you get. But defiantly the more you spend the more fun and more enjoyment u will have.

  • Suddenly buggy

I have enjoyed the civilization franchise since Civ 4, a lot of the additions with Gathering Storm have been enjoyable. I’m disappointed at the bugs that have shown up - the placeholder text instead of meaningful items, sometimes I can’t even know what I’m voting for in world congress now. I hope that is going to get fixed soon.

  • Bugs!

Everything is good but a lot of text boxes are displayed incorrectly “CONGRESS_NAME…”, in some parts it affects the game so badly, for example during the emergencies you cannot understand anything because it would be like “EMERGENCY_RULE_…”
  • Nothing downloads. Refund requested.

On an iPhone 12 with iOS 16 with 70gb of storage available and on a wifi network with gigabit fiber and no DLC will download.

All results for the issue show others dealing with the same problem and the developer having the nerve to suggest some tap dance of logging in and out of the App Store and even doing a factory reset of the device.

Absolutely pathetic for $60+ work of purchases to not work correctly out of the box. Downloading additional data ain’t rocket surgery.

To the devs: fix your stuff and don’t suggest the problem is on my end when loads of people are facing the same.
