  • Great first impression

    I have had this thing for awhile, but lost it in a move. It’s at least a year old if not two. I think the starting firmware was 1.115 and I’m on latest now, 1.124(?) or something like that.

    1. I expected update issues being so old, there were none. In fact, i did multiple updates in succession to get to latest. Zero issues.
    2. App looks awesome. You can even export your temp data. That’s unexpected, but really cool. I’ll definitely use that.
    3. I have not cooked with it yet, but I anticipate it will be great.

  • Great probes, terrible software

    I have had this for a few months now. As long as I constantly check the app manually I can get the current temp of the meat. Graphing only works for the first few minutes of a smoke, then just loads when I try to go to the screen. Notifications don’t work most of the time, and has started sending notifications after the device is off. I grilled 2 days ago, and the notifications started coming through at 4 am this morning. I got 10 of them before I got up and disabled notifications on the device.

    Hello , Please update your device to the latest firmware and your problem will be solved. - [x] ​​Please go to GrillEye PRo app - Settings - Check Update - Update. - [x] Upon updating firmware, if it is not connected after 4-5 seconds to the cloud , power off / on the device. If this does not work as well, they bring your device close to GrillEye and do the following: - [x] Please go to GrillEye Pro Settings, and press the trash bin icon on the top right corner. - [x] Go to GrillEye Pro Settings - WiFi - Install your WiFi network again. - [x] Quit the app, power off your device, power it on and re open the app. If for some reason while trying to update your firmware you are getting a network error, please do the following: - [x] On your smartphone activate personal hot spot. - [x] After enabling the personal hot spot , open the GrillEye Pro app and change the wifi network using the hot spot WiFi network. - [x] Update your firmware until your reach 1.131. - [x] Then add your normal WiFI network to the GrillEye Pro settings, quit and re open the app and you should be connected. - [x] ​NOTE: Before any update, make sure your device is fully charged.     After a couple firmware updates it seems this system is really working well.
  • They’ve really improved!

    Read a lot of bad reviews about the GrillEye pro plus along with the glitchy app. Saw this on sale though and thought it was worth a shot at the lowered price. Glad I did! Still a little frustrating getting started, but now everything works and it’s magical! I monitored my last 12 hour smoke away from my house, so the new cloud update works. Product held a strong connection the entire time. Alarms with temp thresholds are great. Graphs are helpful, but could use some more upgrades. Probes were accurate. Here are a few things to note in regards to unboxing: updating the firmware gives an error unless you hotspot from your phone and then update (not sure why, but that is the workaround). Then it wouldn’t connect to the cloud right away. Reboot the unit and fully exit the app a time or two and then give it 10 minutes to connect to the cloud for the first time. After that, I never had to wait for anything again. Then, the graphs. If they fail to load or you are starting a new grill session, reset the graph data in settings and that fixes it. I hope they keep perfecting this bc it’s a great way to grill without breaking the bank for remote monitoring!

  • Great device please don’t give up

    The GrillEye is the best concept of a wireless thermometer of any. I really like the graphs and the remote cloud access. The app has some bugs to work out. If you (the developers) keep working on the bugs I will continue to promote your product. Nice work and please don’t give up.
  • The GrillEye Pro is great.... The App - Not so much

    The GrillEye Pro is fantastic - their app on the other hand needs major development.

    1) Almost every time I have to use the combination I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. Not a huge deal except you lose all your presents for temps/settings and notification preferences

    2) This morning the app keeps notifying me that I have a probe that is below temp, but my unit is not even on. Started at 6:00 am and goes just about every minute. I have uninstalled the app until I have heard this is fixed.
  • Latest firmware breaks stuff

    I had this working for several cooks, but after updating to the latest firmware the probes will not register in the app. The screen just displays a message saying no probes connected yet I get readings on the actual device. Have tried resetting, closing and opening the app, turning the device on and off, none of it works. Says I have a strong bluetooth connection and I get disconnect alarms and alarms that say the probes are lower than a preset too, so something is very wrong with the app.

    Update: Sure, uninstalling everything, updating to the new iOS (which breaks other stuff and has its own problems) works to fix the problem. But when I have do that or wait 2-3 days for a response when I was planning on cooking one day isn’t a reasonable solution. I’ve already got every prepared and on the smoker and I just expect it to work. At the very least you need to have a forum for support where other users and developers can collaborate and provide answers and solutions to problems like this. The fact that the only way to get support was to leave an unfavorable review is kind of absurd. If there is another way to get help then it’s certainly not easy to find. Googling problems with the device shows almost nothing, and the documentation is about the same.

    The latest graphs update is phenomenal! The graphs are easy to view and they can also all be viewed on the same screen. Customer support is excellent. Super responsive, Thank you!
  • Getting there but.... still needs work

    I’d really appreciate more control of alerts and better connection. Is it Bluetooth is it network is it both? I don’t know, but one thing it’s not..... is always connected to my phone. Though while using the app my phone is always on the network, it seems I’m only connected to the GrillEye device when I’m within 20 feet and in Direct line of sight.

    Come on..... if I’m that close I don’t meet my phone.....I’ll just look at the device. Keep working on connection stability guys....... you’ll get there I have faith.

  • App does not see probe

    All was well before. Now app update and device firmware update my app shows no probs plugged in despite the device showing 4 each with a different temp. Deleted the device, re-added, no luck. Deleted the app all together, reinstalled, readies no luck.

    Really.... stop with all the fancy stuff you’re trying to do.

    1) have the probs track the temp
    2) have the base unit interpret those temps to a visual read out
    2) send those visual read outs to the app

    I promise I can do the rest.
