Latest firmware breaks stuff

I had this working for several cooks, but after updating to the latest firmware the probes will not register in the app. The screen just displays a message saying no probes connected yet I get readings on the actual device. Have tried resetting, closing and opening the app, turning the device on and off, none of it works. Says I have a strong bluetooth connection and I get disconnect alarms and alarms that say the probes are lower than a preset too, so something is very wrong with the app.

Update: Sure, uninstalling everything, updating to the new iOS (which breaks other stuff and has its own problems) works to fix the problem. But when I have do that or wait 2-3 days for a response when I was planning on cooking one day isn’t a reasonable solution. I’ve already got every prepared and on the smoker and I just expect it to work. At the very least you need to have a forum for support where other users and developers can collaborate and provide answers and solutions to problems like this. The fact that the only way to get support was to leave an unfavorable review is kind of absurd. If there is another way to get help then it’s certainly not easy to find. Googling problems with the device shows almost nothing, and the documentation is about the same.

Excellent Support

Was able to get everything going from opening except the firmware update. Followed the links on support page. Got “George” on their support line and fixed within 5 mins. Very impressive and my issue was forwarded to the App builders to review. Well done.

Latest update.

The latest graphs update is phenomenal! The graphs are easy to view and they can also all be viewed on the same screen. Customer support is excellent. Super responsive, Thank you!

Terrible

Probe is connected to device, device shows temperature, my app can change temperature unit of the device, yet the app still keeps telling me there is no probe connected so I cannot select presets. It shows everything is connect to the network.

Every time I use it, it’s a different set of problem.

Getting there but.... still needs work

I’d really appreciate more control of alerts and better connection. Is it Bluetooth is it network is it both? I don’t know, but one thing it’s not..... is always connected to my phone. Though while using the app my phone is always on the network, it seems I’m only connected to the GrillEye device when I’m within 20 feet and in Direct line of sight.

Come on..... if I’m that close I don’t meet my phone.....I’ll just look at the device. Keep working on connection stability guys....... you’ll get there I have faith.

App does not see probe

All was well before. Now app update and device firmware update my app shows no probs plugged in despite the device showing 4 each with a different temp. Deleted the device, re-added, no luck. Deleted the app all together, reinstalled, readies no luck.

Really.... stop with all the fancy stuff you’re trying to do.

1) have the probs track the temp
2) have the base unit interpret those temps to a visual read out
2) send those visual read outs to the app

I promise I can do the rest.

Buggy

Still wildly frustrating, even after the latest firmware update. Disconnects from phone even 10 feet away. When it is connected, have to “minimize” and reopen to refresh the temperatures.

Nice app; good support

I like the app and the hardware. I have run into some of the same bugs described by others, but I’ve found that the development team is quick to respond to my questions and so far everything seems to be working with the latest version.

Not Perfect, but awesome and keeps getting better.

The GrillEye Pro is a great BBQ accessory.

Some of the functionality has been clunky, like wifi connectivity and temperature graphs, but its core function of temperature monitoring is rock solid.

Firmware updates have improved the wifi and the latest 1.24 update seems to make the graphs actually work.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one of these devices for someone who was getting into BBQ.

Latest update won’t recognize probes

The previous version had graph issues. This one won’t even recognize that probes are connected even though the device reads temp. Completely unusable now.
