  • On a demand 👍 Live👎

I really like the workouts on this app and that you don’t need equipment. There’s a good mix of work out types—HIIT, yoga, even some dance stuff if that’s your thing. It’s really easy to filter by work out type and time. Leg day + I only have 20 minutes, no problem. The app will even bug you for “accountability” if you want it to. Here’s the problem, it’s pricey for on demand (prerecorded) workouts. There are other cheaper apps with equally good content. So, in my mind, you’re paying more for live workouts. The thing is Obé is clearly based in the eastern time zone. Live workouts start at 4:30 AM on the West Coast and are done by 4:00 PM. There is nothing at lunch or after work in my time zone. I’m on a free trial now, but I probably won’t keep the subscription up.

  • Program is great but app could use some improvements

I love obé as a program. The workouts are great and I love the variety. However, I wish they would update the app to make things easier. Two things that annoy me the most is that I cannot organize my favorites or easily search replay classes. I favorite a lot of classes so I can find ones I want to try later but it’s so annoying to go through all my favorites trying to find something specific. I wish I could organize them into my own groups to find them easier. Also wish I could search the classes by what part of my body i want to target. I don’t want to search through them all looking for arms classes I want to be able to look through all the arms classes alone.

  • Instructors are bad at directing you

The actual moves can be challenging but most of the instructors are bad at actually telling you what to do. You have to watch them do a lot of basic moves that they should just describe where any other instructor I’ve ever taken a class with describes body movements so you can listen and flow. Katherine in barre for example will just say “okay now pulse” “in and out” “take it back” and change the move so you have no idea what you’re doing if you’re in a position not to watch the tv. Ive tried four instructors and they all do this. It seems so basic it’s almost like they’re not real instructors. I’ve probably done a thousand classes online and in persons and I’ve never had this problem. It’s so easily correctable and hoping this review will get them all to step it up

  • Poor customer service makes this not worth it

I like the workouts and some of the instructors (some are just annoying); there’s a huge variety of workouts and the aesthetic is my style. However, when I had an issue signing up with a trial offer, my email went unnoticed for over a week. I sent them a follow up email, and surprise surprise, they responded within an hour realizing that they had forgotten to respond to my previous email. Classes don’t have detailed descriptions, so you have to guess or shuffle through them to determine more about them. Some prenatal classes involved unsafe movements. They don’t allow you to cancel or skip a month online, which is a huge turnoff, and you have to call during weekday business hours. I’ll miss certain aspects of the app, but I’m very happy to support a very similar company with much better workouts, app layout, and customer service instead.

  • Not customer oriented- extremely difficult to cancel

I had a free trial when I downloaded the app. After the free trial, I continued my membership for 1 more month, but then decided to cancel as I wasn’t using it as much as I’d like. It was then I realized the only way to cancel was to call their customer service line. Kind of frustrating you can’t do it online, it is 2020 after all, but ok not the biggest deal. I called but couldn’t get through, to then find out they are only available Monday - Friday between 9:30qm and 4pm. I work Monday- Friday 8:30am - 5pm. A great way to keep customers if they can’t call between those exact times I guess. I was a few days late in canceling and they refused to do anything. They actually just made it very clear that this was my fault and that they make no exceptions. I don’t mind paying that final month, it’s just the attitude and way they went about it. Not a customer oriented company at all with their rude customer service agents (and their weird odd hours cancellation process). Classes were good and it was not a terrible price, but I would definitely not recommend based on this interaction.

  • It’s more than a fitness app!

I'm a runner and I signed up for Obè because I couldn’t run. Legit planned to quit once PT told me I could run....but then something started happening. It wasn’t physical changes that were happening with me - it was mental and emotional. The trainers and community that exist within this platform helped get me back to a place I didn’t think I’d get back to. Long story short (it’s in a Obè coffee talk) Obè did for me what years of therapy couldn’t. This is really the only fitness platform I’ve experienced that understands the correlation between a happy mind = a happy body. The other added benefit is that the community of people here are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. That alone is worth the membership. From a runners perspective I would like to add that the classes that Obé offers are the perfect cross and strength training for runners. I've been running injury free the last year + and my running times have all improved.

  • The BEST decision I’ve ever made

This app and community is seriously one if not THE best decision I’ve ever made.

The trainers are freaking phenomenal. They are 100% real and their energy is contagious. They aren’t afraid to say if they are having a rough day, so you don’t feel like they are these super beings that never feel fatigued (even though they are still super heroes in my eyes 🤩). They are very responsive and comment back to you almost immediately. Whether it’s to answer a question or just congratulate you on your workout, they make their presence known.

The community is something I NEVER thought existed. Everyone is so supportive and REAL and I have found that I open up on here more than I do to people I consider super close to. I don’t ever feel like I can’t be honest nor do I feel like I will be rejected. Because of that my confidence has boosted so much and I can honestly say that 85% of me discovering my true self is from this platform.

I love that they are forever evolving and are ALWAYS listening to our wants and suggestions. This truly is a community and a family and I’m so thankful to be a part of it!

  • Obé Changed the Game

I picked obé because I needed a great, effective, workout that I could fit into my crazy schedule. The trainers are incredible, and I never end a 28 minute class without feeling like I got a good workout. Plus, $27 a month is cheaper than you’ll pay almost anywhere else (unless you include bargain gyms with no classes).

I had tried some beach body on demand classes before and didn’t like them. Many other platforms will only upload X amount of videos and their not new daily. With obé, you constantly have new workouts to do. The live portion is also really unique, and wonderful to have... I think it really adds motivation and connection.

Lastly, you’re getting top notch trainers that aren’t so caught up in themselves that they feel like they need to be super intense throughout the workout. (I.e. harsh boot camp like feedback or pressure/ overly intense workouts just to show how fit they are, not to provide a good workout for others). They are good at what they do, and motivating without being cheesy or broken recordy at the same time.

TLDR: I was never a morning or at home workout person until I found obé, and I have been with them for over a year. I get up at 4:45am on the west coast for live classes because I love them that much! You won’t find a better product for the price.

  • My fitness game changer

I’ve never liked working out at home - I always felt like I was doing the same workouts over and over (probably because I was with other on demand options). I tried obe because Katie Lee was talking about it on her instagram and hooked after my free week. Went immediately to annual and have not regretted it!

I ditched my expensive personal trainer, cancelled my gym membership and all other all demand subscriptions. Obe will literally save me over $800 by May of 2020, and at 33, I feel like I’m in some of the best shape of my life.

Since I started in May 2019 they have added yoga sculpt, cardio boxing, Pilates, bounce, had 2 great challenges, added new instructors and incorporated nutrition. Exited for my fitness future at Obe.

  • Live Classes Motivate

Been using for about 3 weeks now and I love it! It’s challenging, energetic, fun, great music choices, appealing to the eye! I don’t have a huge space to workout in and this proves that you don’t have to.
There is something about being live and having the trainers saying your name and motivating you when you want to give up! Also, having a class time motivates you to be ready to go at a certain time.
To the points I just mentioned, the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I wish there were live classes that went through the lunch hour and possibly evening classes for people on the west coast.
The on-demand options are great since I have a random schedule, but I find myself doing more of those because of class times catering to Eastern Standard Time. I would like more options to do a live class since that’s truly what makes this unique.
Other then that small thing, highly recommend!
