  • The app I didn’t know I needed!

I’ve been a home gym fitness addict for years. I was offered a 90-day free trial to Obé, so I decided to incorporate into my fitness routine. It didn’t take long until I was addicted. I travel a lot, and I love that I am able to take my workouts along with me. My favorite place to do Obé is on the beach! I now have my favorite classes and instructors, and I finally feel like I have the community to get me out of bed in the morning earlier than I did when I was working out alone. I love that Obé has a variety of classes, class times, and instructors. My entire family participates in the workouts, and now I don’t know how I ever lived without the Obé instructors and community! I especially love that instructors give you a shoutout during live classes. Obé has been the best fitness purchase I have made in the past year and it is WAY cheaper than a gym membership!

  • Best Fitness App I ever tried!

Scrap all the other fitness apps, this is the best. The instructors do the whole workout with you so your aren’t doing it alone. They also talk about posture so you know what to pay attention to. They also explain how these exercises benefit you during daily life which I found gives extra motivation not that this would be needed as the trainers are all in! I’ve been using this app for the past 2 yrs and I always felt much better after a workout. They also added more classes and programs for people short on time (Hello parents 👋) They have pre- and postnatal classes now and so on. When I started out the apps continually had hiccups, which annoyed me soooo much, but they seem to have fixed it now, since a couple of months the app is running smoothly on my iphone and ipad. I just love it!!! what else can I say!

  • Instructors and classes are great; app is not

The instructors and workouts are amazing (especially Melody). There’s great variety, it’s always fresh and the vibe is awesome. That being said, the app itself is pretty awful and very frustrating. It has terrible glitches - especially with the replays (although the on demand ones also have their flaws). And while it seems they’ve moved away from one time replays, they still have something similar available but you can’t even cast them right now so if you miss it live, the workout is unusable. It stops and starts repeatedly and always freezes up. When you have limited time to workout, there’s no time to deal with those types of glitches. And when you reach out to obe customer support to point it out, they just want to put you In touch with IT to “troubleshoot”. But we all know that no amount of troubleshooting can help with a poorly built app. Also I wish they’d acknowledge publicly that this is a known issue and they are working on fixing it (although I’m not sure they actually even are trying to actively fix), versus gaslighting you into feeling like this isn’t a major flaw with their app. So based on all of that, I can’t recommend this app which is a shame because I do love the workouts and overall vibe. If anyone in a leadership position at obe is reading this, please find a new IT team and software provider to help you build a better app.

  • Just need a couple fixes!!!

I’ve had this app for about 3 years now and I really like it apart from a few things. Number one, it is beyond infuriating that you can only watch some “replay” classes once. I’m paying for this app, I should be able to watch workouts as many times as I want and the glitches would be so less annoying if I could leave the workout and come back to it. Two, the search function is irritating. You can’t search multiple different kinds of workouts at once. For example if I was thinking of doing either a boxing workout or dance cardio I can’t filter those at the same time, I would only get videos that are dance cardio AND boxing. Same with equipment, I can’t search for resistance bands OR weights it always has to be everything you select in one video. Third, if you do one of the programs the next day in your sequence doesn’t pop up automatically, you have to search through the app to find the program you’re doing and then scroll to the next day. Overall I think the instructors are great (for the most part) but the bugs I mentioned drive me crazy ESPECIALLY for a paid app!!!

  • Great classes, app not so user friendly

I’m new to obe from other fitness apps and like the variety of content obe offers — which is why I switched. A few things could be improved in the app to make the experience seamless though:
    1. Casting should be available in every video, not just weirdly placed on the intro video / slide show when you open the app. It took me forever to figure out that’s what I had to do to cast
    2. A “my programs” section would make it way easier to pick up quickly where you left off. As it stands now, I have to find the list of programs, remember the name of the program I’m in and click in to see where I’m at
    3. It would also be nice to be able to quickly search for workouts by type (trampoline, upper body, etc.) — it’s really buried at the moment. It’s nice to be able to sort by instructor but that’s not the only way people search for workouts

  • Amazing service, app is a bit buggy

I LOVE OBE. I’ve never been this into working out. Classes are my favorite way to exercise, but they are usually expensive and sometimes intimidating for people with social anxiety. Obè was the solution for me; I now take fitness classes in the comfort of my home. They have great deals on yearly passes that make it very affordable (much more than most gyms), and you get live classes plus a huge catalog of pre-recorded classes and fitness plans. I absolutely love the instructors, all are sweet and personable. The vinyasa yoga, sculpt, and barre classes are my favorite! If you need low-impact, the instructors always provide modifications. I never usually write app reviews but I really cannot recommend this enough! It is VERY beginner friendly but has some more advanced classes as well.

My only complaint with this is that there have been issues with the app bugging sometimes. Once they get the kinks ironed out it will be fine.

  • Best at home workout app on the market!

This app has seriously changed my life, it makes it easy and fun to workout. The instructors and class types are great. I am finally able to see my abs again!!
  • Great workouts, terrible app experience

I really enjoy the obé classes and love the concept of the programs, especially BodyComp, but the experience is totally ruined by the app glitches.

    Current issues include:
    - same music being played for every single class
    - audio, either just the music or both the music and the instructor, cuts out after 30 minutes when casting to a chromecast
    - if I pause a class, the casting controls disappear and I can no longer cast the class. Have to force quit the app, reopen it, find the class, and then fast forward to the part where it froze in order to re-cast
    - if I can get it work again, the playlist starts over from the beginning

Whereas I would normally leave a class on a high (and I do, when they actually work!) more often than not I finish a class incredibly frustrated (and having wasted time trying to deal with their technical issues, which defeats the purpose of a quick class).

I’ve emailed the vip@obefitness address, provided them all the info they asked for, and then I never heard back after their first email and since have seen zero improvements.

Such a bummer because I love the classes but the glitchy app ruins the experience, which makes no sense since streaming is the whole purpose of the platform. May be time to look into another streaming workout service so I don’t lose all the endorphins :(

  • Good platform, but…

The variety of routines on the platform has just gotten better and uses all manner of equipment or no equipment, so the odds are pretty good that you’ll find something that suits you. But there is a reason I can only give this three stars, and that is some of the instructors don’t know how to act professional teaching a class. Melody, Alex, and Dorian don’t focus on the workout when they dress up to match a class’s theme, and their failure to act as themselves both shattered my trust in them and made me leery of working with other instructors, looking for the next boundary violation because it’s principle for me that if you are going to teach a workout you must act the part of a professional trainer…which means no costumes and no gimmicks.

Between this and the platform’s refusal to take Mental Health Awareness Month seriously, I felt no choice but to cancel my account last month, and I won’t be back.

If how instructors dress and act isn’t a concern to you, or if you have plenty of support for the mental health aspect, go ahead and mentally add a star or two to my score. But if it does matter to you like it does to me, look elsewhere.

  • Great classes but glitchy

I love Obé’s classes and teachers! I’ve been using this app for a year or so now, and there’s many options of classes to take depending on my mood and goals which is great.

The main issues are really more from a technical perspective. Every time the app updates there’s a new glitch. Currently, I can’t get the player controls to disappear from the video screen, so they’re showing during the entire class. Last week, the play button disappeared from the “replay” classes and then showed up as completed classes in my history. A few weeks ago, the app logged me out in the middle of a class. Also, no one replied to my customer support email about these issues. Overall, I’d enjoy the app more if I wasn’t constantly glitching.
