  • Fitness app

Amazing app, great work outs and instructors. Have had a few connectivity issues of late streaming to smart TV, hopefully they fix!! Otherwise an outstanding app and fitness program
  • Not beginner friendly

Even though these classes say beginner level - they aren’t. When I think beginner, I think of someone who may not be as flexible or have abs of steel like the moderate exerciser to be able to follow along with these instructors. I was really excited to get my fitness journey started with this app but I am now day 4 in a challenge that’s supposed to be beginner friendly and I literally can’t keep up because I don’t have the proper body muscles that these instructors has to keep my body up while doing butterfly kicks or lifting my legs up over my head. Absolutely insane expectations for beginner levels. Skip if you’re just getting started. Or else you won’t be getting the workout you deserve! You’ll just be watching. It’s a shame because this app does have a lot of classes but nothing I’m remotely interested in now after day 4.

  • Terrible customer service

So I haven’t used the app once. Well I did my free trial and forgot to cancel. I let it go, whatever I can pay for one month. They also don’t make it easy to cancel. You have to CALL. No canceling on the app. If I’m honest I think that Apple should not even allow that but whatever. The next month, today March 3rd, I call on the renewal day to cancel and was like yeah just didn’t use it. The woman on the phone was okay I’ll cancel your account, I will see if the VP will refund you for the payment made, wait for it, the payment wasn’t even made yet for March third, they were going to charge my payment later in the day. Anyways she was like oh the VP has to approve of it but it is a case by case thing so it’s not guaranteed we won’t charge you. I was like okay can I have their email. She goes it is “VIP, you know like Very Important Person, at obé.com”. Okay cool. So I’m thinking this is weird. I haven’t been charged for the 3rd yet. I am canceling on the renewal day, it shouldn’t be a problem. Oh wait for it. I just got an email six hours later. An email for a receipt for a payment for March 3rd. They charged me after I said to cancel. And they sent a receipt. The audacity.

  • Loving Obé

I have been using Obé as a replacement for beach body on demand for the past month. Their workouts are new and refreshing and the trainers encourage you and hearing my name called out really makes me feel seen and special during live workouts. I also love how they have programs you can work through laid out in their app. All around loving Obé, however one major flaw is that to cancel a membership you cannot do it online or in app. I was going to recommend the free two weeks to some friends but the only way to cancel is by calling a phone number M-F 9-4 pm or something. I’m sorry but this is very unreasonable. It is 2021. You should be able to click a button to cancel a membership. Seems like they may try to get you on the phone to persuade you to stay. I purchased a year membership right out of the gate and hope it will work out for me going forward, but really should not need to call a toll free number. Yikes!

  • Life changing

Obé has been life changing for me. I absolutely love it! Amazing instructors and workouts.
  • First time obé member

My husband calls me a serial work out apper. I have tried every single work out app from tone it up, sweat, alo, pure barre, Open fit ..to a million others. This is my favorite work out app by far. The classes are so upbeat and the trainers are fun and make the classes go by so fast. I actually get excited to get up and do these work outs. They give shout outs in the live class which make it feel so much more personal. The trainers all have the best personalities. The pastel backgrounds are calming and fun. They sent me a free resistance band (didn’t even have to pay for shipping) because I did 5 classes in a row, that’s unheard of. I did the 7 day trial and then bought for the year. The best work out app out there in my opinion.

  • Obe is just OK

So, there are lots of classes! That’s great. I like the length of the classes and the pre-structured programs. I really enjoy some of the Pilates and barre instructors, others are a bit too over the top. There could definitely be improvement with queuing moves and communicating what comes next.

But the bad is like, really bad. The music. Is so. Bad. I get that it’s expensive to pay for the rights to well-known songs and licensing, etc. but the music is legit downright embarrassing, to the point that it is distracting. The lyrics and beats on the songs are reminiscent of Rebecca Black’s “Friday”. (but in all genres! There’s rap, pop, electro, r&b, idk where they found this stuff). Trust me, go find a free vid on their insta or do the trial and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Even instrumental or no vocals would be better! But yeaaa I’m canceling after this month. Can’t handle the cheese factor.

  • The answer to my laziness 🙏🏼

I honestly can’t begin to tell you how appreciative of obé I am!! I found them midway through the quarantine, when I was at my absolute laziest. We’re talking both physically and mentally lazy here! Stuck in the crater of my couch cushions, with crumbs all over me and Netflix asking if I was still watching my 900th hour of tv, I decided I needed to make a change.

Enter obé..and The Alter of Walter and Mary Wolff and Kat Ellis and the perfection that is Adam! Suddenly all of the most motivating people were right in my living, all just a tap away on obé. I truly can’t say enough kind or amazing things about the obé instructors.

Ultimately I’m just a full fledged obé fan now. I love that I’m getting up and moving around. I love that I’m becoming mentally and physically stronger because of obé. I love that I’m meeting incredible people through their community. And more than anything, I LOVE that I’m doing it all from the comfort of my home. No more gyms, no more judgmental stares. Just me, my mat, and 28-minutes of live fun everyday (or On-Demand because have I mentioned that obé has OPTIONS?!?!)

10/10 you need to download obé now!

  • Great instructors, but app needs some work

I’m in the middle of my free trial and like what I’ve seen of the service so far, but the app UI has some very frustrating flaws. 1. The equipment filter when searching for a class doesn’t work the way it should - all types of equipment should start out being selected, and the user should tap on types of equipment to deselect them and remove them from the results, not the other way around. Otherwise, if I only have one type of equipment, the search results just show me classes with that equipment + other things, rendering the filter totally useless. 2. You should be able to adjust filters once you’ve performed a search - currently you tap the filters to go back to search which clears all of them, meaning you have to input everything again and again. 3. The app doesn’t indicate whether you’ve already done a particular workout. Since every class has the same name (also annoying - maybe append the dates to the names?), that makes it extra difficult to recall which ones you’ve done. A simple Watched icon would fix this. 4. The On-Demand section loads SO SLOWLY. Holy crap. Clearly some optimization needs to happen, I don’t know if they’re trying to load every single video possible in the background, but it’s an awful experience. It often causes my entire app to freeze up (I’m on an iPhone X, btw). Really hope the devs will consider fixing these things because the app would be so much more usable.

  • TOTAL SCAM! Deplorable subscription policy.

I used a 3 month voucher I earned as points from another app and at checkout they ask you how you want your subscription to continue after the trial. 1 month, 3 months or yearly. I picked 3 months (quarterly). After I signed up I noticed that my quarterly choice didn’t “stick” and it defaulted to 1 year, so I changed it to quarterly. At this point they charged me the full $65 quarterly fee ON THE SAME DAY MY FREE TRIAL STARTED.

Further, when I contacted customer support for a refund they said “we mention on our website” that quarterly isn’t available for free trials. BUT I had already enrolled in a quarterly free trial. I switched it because of an error in THEIR system. Further, I was never informed that this would nullify my free trial and that I was going to be charged. What a horrible and shameful scam. Businesses like this don’t deserve anyone’s money.

UPDATE: their customer support is total BS and doesn’t even bother to follow up when you question their practices/policies. As a UX designer I am fully aware of how their flow is designed to mislead customers. I asked them to explain/ justify this to me and received no reply for over a week. They just charged me $65 on the day I signed up for a 3 month free trial with my earned WW points and take no level of ownership or responsibility for honoring this agreement as any credible business would.
