  • STUDY MODE.

It’s an absolute lifesaver! I would subscribe to this even if it was only the Study soundscape. It’s a nonstop, continuous stream of lofi that’s absolutely perfect for schoolwork or studying. It changes slightly every so often to the time/your heart rate so that it doesn’t get boring, but it also stays consistent so that you don’t get distracted. Honestly I can’t recommend this enough for students. There’s nothing else that gets me into the zone faster like this app- eventually after a little bit it fades into the background and you barely notice it as you’re so focused on whatever you’re doing. I used to be someone who got distracted so often and had almost no motivation for school, and this honestly helped a lot. The other soundscapes are nice, but I haven’t fully tried any of them out besides sleep (it works like a charm too-knocks me out cold). Be warned, however: at times the app can get a little bit pseudoscience-y and a little too pretentious. Just take everything with a grain of salt and you’ll be off to the races.

  • Overloaded with garbage

This app was fine until it got overdeveloped. The use is gentle useful soundscapes at the push of a button. For a long time I could reliably just push an apple watch complication and launch a soundscape.

Now I can’t launch it without dismissing multiple popup screens (I think I had five different ones on my last launch), and closing / re-opening the app. Launching from watch complication never works. Defeats the whole purpose.

A lot more content has been added but the developers completely lost site of basic utility in a quest to add value and, I suspect, justify their investors’ money and their own salaries. Definitely will not subscribe for another year unless developers focus on the massive technical debt they accrued by focusing on content instead of UX.

  • Terrifyingly effective

I consider myself an insomniac. Insomnia basically ruined my early adult life. This app, WOW!!! I have used it several times for sleep and have not known what hit me!!!! I am shocked by how effective it has been as getting me to sleep. It JUST WORKS!!! There are other apps out there that try to do what this has done, such as Mesmerize, but that one gets too intense. This app, by all accounts, shouldn’t work so well, it’s a black screen with some music and images. BUT IT KNOCKS ME OUT!!!! I’m really thankful to these creators for their research and idea, it’s bold to be so simplistic, how DOES this manage to knock me dead every night?!?!! Wow!!!

  • Game changer

I purchased this app after listening to the Plastikman promo on BeatPort’s Twitch. Like others, I purchased the subscription 6 months ago and immediately canceled. Well, I will almost certainly renew because I absolutely love this app and use it every day.

I have problems falling asleep along with a partner that snores very loudly. I initially used earbuds to listen to Endel in bed, and now I use noise canceling headphones (back sleeper). I set the timer for 30 minutes but am usually asleep within a few minutes. I’ve used white noise machines, but Endel seems to encourage sleep rather than just providing sound soothing.

I actually never use the Plastikman soundscape. I tend to use AI Lullaby, Sleep, and the chill scenario. I’ve had the most relaxing bath ever using the self care scenario and am currently experimenting with the focus soundscape at work.

Not denying that many will find this app expensive (I did as well), but in the end, it’s been well worth the price.

  • Converted skeptic

TL;DR: 11 months, better sleep, more focused reading, and a team responsive to emails and quick to fix issues

I didn’t know how much better my sleep was until a recent update messed it up. The Endel team was responsive to emails and quickly put out an update. When I emailed to say it didn’t work, they suggested (same day) I delete and reinstall the app. Reinstalling worked and I was able to sleep well last night. My subscription is up in a few weeks and I am totally renewing for another year. Zero regrets about the cost because of the app, the team, and the new features/sounds that they frequently add.

  • Costly compared to other apps - need help with parts of it

I love the concept. My phone is filled with meditation and other mental help apps. But when apps like Mindspace, Calm, Aura, etc. are so packed with options and variety, I have to say I was searching to see what I was missing. A very small handful of synthesizer loops with very little variety. No real explanation of the energy graph (it doesn’t match my life and no idea how to change it.) Can someone explain the energy graph? What if it doesn’t match me at that time? Or my environment (like in an office under florescent lights? I listened to them all and they just sounded like synth loops I can get anywhere. I don’t mean to sound cruel or personally attack the developers- I just don’t get this much money for a handful of space synth loops.

  • New sleep sound

I have had this app for 6+ months now and it is a part of my nightly routine for sure. And this newest update changed the beginning of the sleep soundsscape and honestly I hate it. The dings at the beginning were my favorite part and now they've been replaced with creepy ethereal sudo "dings" if it can even be called that. I use endel only for sleeping 97% of the time I have it open and honestly I'm not getting used to this change. I'm hating it more every night. I loved everything else about this app and I loved the sleep soundscape. Until a week ago where it's nowhere near the same anymore. I liked that it was predictable. Hope you can fix this or give people an option for which beginning sound they like better or honestly I'm out. I don't like this to fall asleep to at all. Such a bummer.

  • Soothing

I am new to the app, so time will tell, but so far I like it enough to subscribe for a year. I like having it on in the background during the day on Relax or Focus, depending on what I am doing. At night the Grimes AI Lullaby soundscape help me get to sleep and I seem to wake feeling more rested. I keep the volume low at night. “Soundscape” is the perfect description. It is not like music, which I sometimes find distracting. The sound just fills the space and becomes part of my background environment. I play it through HomePod speakers.

At first, I was bothered by the white on black graphics and thought there should be some color. As I use the app more, I’ve come to appreciate how much the graphics are a visual expression of the sound. It’s the sound that is most important. The graphics could have some color, either by modulating the background, or by introducing color into the line work. But I’m also fine without it now.

  • Creative app with some over-design issues

I enjoy endel, particularly the Deeper Focus program by Richie Hawton. It seems Endel will evolve this app further. I sincerely hope They improve the adjustability of all features but none so urgently as the alarm. I find the wake up feature is quite nice but the fall asleep mode is very irritating and does not seem to be promoting good rest, I’m writing this review after a failed attempt to fall asleep to these new age massage room themes in the alarm function. Why you wouldn’t be able to have a couple sliders to the effect the result seems like a big missed opportunity for something as personal as sleep preferences. When the alarm and sleep modes are improved (which should be easy enough) the app value will improve by ten fold. Still Rating 4 stars as I hope the team can take this constructive feedback and implement a patch. 💤🙏🏼

  • Same Music No Updates

First off if everything went as expected I would have given the app a 5 star rating. I used this app for getting to sleep. After the demo period I paid the $49, reluctantly , but expecting more music choices within the specific area to be soothed, which in my case was the sleep area. Even after paying for the app the sleep music remains the exact same. That in it self kept me from falling asleep. I am giving this app two stars because the music has been the same thing without any changes. There is no indication anywhere that I read that updates come out only when the music is finished. There are no choices and you’ll listen to the same thing over and over. I requested a refund due to no additional selections although the documentation implies it.
